Becca Light Waves Highlighter Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Light Waves
Becca Light Waves Highlighter Palette ($34.00 for 0.27 oz.) includes three highlighters–two we’ve seen before and one new to the palette (Pink Sapphire)–housed in a slim, plastic palette. I found the quality of the three shades to be fairly good with the two previously-released shades performing on par with the full-sized versions I have, while the weakest shade was the new shade, Pink Sapphire, as it wasn’t quite as pigmented as the other shades but built up and applied well that I imagine most won’t have any issues with it.

Moonstone
Moonstone is a soft, yellowed gold with warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had opaque pigmentation with a smooth, blendable consistency that was easy to apply and to blend out on the skin. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading slightly. The texture was just slightly less creamy compared to the full-sized product I have.

Formula Overview
$38.00/0.25 oz. - $152.00 Per Ounce
The Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed formula is described as having an "ultra-reflective shine" with a "creamy" texture that "applies seamlessly." In general, the texture of the highlighters is incredibly smooth, silky, and finely-milled with frosted to metallic finishes and the occasional more sparkly finish.
They tend to have a high-shine, more metallic finish and are a stronger highlighter, so they are going to be best suited to someone who likes an obvious highlight over a very subtle one. That being said, with a fan brush and a deft hand, one could certainly achieve a subtler, all-over luminosity as well, but if one takes a typical, tapered highlighting brush, there will be quite a bit of pigment and highlight on the skin.
I find that some shades can emphasize the look of pores slightly to moderately, depending on application. They tend to last between eight to nine hours on me.

PPermanent. $38.00.
Pink Sapphire
Pink Sapphire is a medium, peachy coral with warm undertones and a peach-to-pink shifting sheen. It looked more pink-toned when applied to my skin at most angles but could look warmer and more of a peach-copper coloring at times. The consistency was soft, slightly more loosely pressed in the pan, and it wasn’t as pigmented as most of the shades in the formula. The pigmentation was buildable on the skin, and it blended out without issue. It wore well for eight hours on me.

Pink Sapphire
LELimited Edition. $38.00.
Prismatic Amethyst
Prismatic Amethyst is a bright, pink-tinted white with a metallic sheen. It had a subtle, iridescent sheen to it that made it shift from pink to lavender. The consistency was soft, smooth, and silky and was in line to the full-sized product. The highlighter had opaque color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin, blended out well, and did not accentuate my skin’s natural texture. It lasted for eight and a half hours on me before fading slightly.

Really pretty surface pressing and good variety in color selection. This would be a nice palettefor people who aren’t saturated with highlighters.
This is a handy little highlighting trio palette – some of the most popular shades with the pink saphire in there for a touch of colour. It’s also good to see that the shades used previously are of the same quality as in the past too.
So do I buy this one or the KVD Metal Crush Extreme Highlighter Palette?! That is the question 🙂
So many brands are coming out with this trio of pale gold, pink and peach/orange highlighter trios or in a palette right now. It’s not new but the trend had been kicked off with Lime Crime Hi-Light Opal this year. lol
I’d say wait for swatches on both because one might work better for your skin tone over another. At least with this one I know I love Moonstone in it. I’m still going to try ignore these….
Good point!!!! I read a few reviews of the KVD pallet on Sephora, and a few said they’re pretty glittery. For me, that’s fine for eyes but I definitely don’t want glittery cheeks.
This looks like it might be the first highlighter palette that could work for me. Do you think it would work for super fair skin?
Moonstone and Prismatic Amethyst can definitely work on fair skin people. 😉 Moonstone is my HG daily highlighter.
Pink Sapphire would be more like a blush when compared to the dupes I have of it.
Thank you!! I was waiting to pull the trigger but that’s all I need to hear. Come oooon be in stock!!!
Even though I like this trio, I am beginning to feel that I may easily have enough highlighterto last me clear up until my skin becomes too textured to use it anymore! Strangely, it’s Pink Sapphire that I like most for its actual color.
thank god a Becca palette with no opal I have so many of those + plus full size. I will never be out of opal! Quick question, which retailer did you buy this from? I tried searching ulta and sephora but no luck. I tried using your link for “where to buy” but it only took me to the individual retailers home page but not the actual item.
Hi Sue,
This is from Becca directly! The links aren’t customized by the item under where to buy, just the retailers the brand is available at, because the individual URLs can change quite a bit over time!
It’s good to read that the 2 shades are as good as their full sized counterparts (so often in these holiday or value releases, the quality isn’t as good as the permanent products).
What a great set! Especially with Moonstone and Amethyst!
Super annoying that this is only available on the becca website, it means no one outside of the US has access to it! Thanks, Becca…
This has just become available on Cult Beauty
Just received this in the mail today. I love this. I am impressed with all 3 shades. Pink sapphire is definitely a blush shade on me, and I love it as that. I seriously have no regrets.
