Tarte Adorbs Tarteist Lip Paint
Tarte Adorbs Tarteist Lip Paint ($20.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a neon, medium, fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a satin finish. It had rich, opaque color coverage, and it is so bright that it really might require a pair of sunglasses! 😉 The texture was a little thicker, more mousse-like, though not as dry as the thicker/most mousse-like shades in the range. It doesn’t have as much of a shine as some shades, but it’s not totally matte. The color lasted for six hours, but it does settle into lip lines. The thicker consistency does allow you to rub your lips together to smooth out the color again, though. It was slightly drying. Tarte Hey Sailor (P, $22.00) is lighter (95% similar). Tarte Twerk Tarteist Lip Paint ($20.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is slightly muted, medium-dark berry with hints of cooler, fuchsia tones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage, but the natural lip color will come through to a small degree. The texture had small clumps of pigment in it (well, seemed like it wasn’t fully mixed). At least the color applied evnely, though, and it did wear six hours while leaving a stain behind. The color is a little thinner, so I didn’t notice it pulling into lip lines as much as Adorbs. NARS Fanny (P, $34.00) is lighter, warmer, glossier (90% similar). Pat McGrath Extravaganza (P, $38.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Si, Si, Me! (LE, $19.00) is glossier (90% similar). Tarte Yaassss Tarteist Lip Paint ($20.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a brightened, medium purple with subtle, cool undertones and a natural sheen. It had good color coverage, though not fully opaque, with a runnier texture that wasn’t too thin or too thick, but it had a tendency to emphasize lip lines and settle there after a couple hours of wear. The formula was drying and lasted for four hours. The color is more unique, though, and given the penchant for purple products to under-perform, it’s actually better than anticipated. KVD Beauty Ozzy (LE, $21.00) is darker, more muted (95% similar). Pat McGrath Faux Pas (P, $38.00) is lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Twitch (P, $18.00) is more muted, less glossy (90% similar). FORMULA OVERVIEW | Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint ($20.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a pigmented, matte liquid lipstick that’s long-wearing. First thing to note is that these never fully dry down, so they are not transfer-proof, but they are less drying than the typical liquid lipstick that dries down completely. They are quite pigmented and despite transferring onto cups, while you eat, and so forth, a lot of the color is left behind. You can also touch-up without having to completely remove the formula. The texture is inconsistent; some shades are thin and have a soft shine even after ten minutes of wear, while others are almost mousse-like in the tube, and these ones tend to be more matte from the get-go. There is a very subtle mint scent, but I don’t notice it at all once it is on. I do notice that it is easier to get these on the teeth than other lip products. The formula is lightly to moderately drying over time with average to long-wear, depending on the shade. Some shades settled into lip lines over time. The majority are satin to semi-matte with a little sheen, which you can either blot once for a matte finish or wait about an hour or two for it to naturally mattify (like any satin finish really).

Merry Christmas Christine!
These look nice on you, but I still think these names are really cringeworthy. How would you even ask for “Yaassss” in a store?
“The purple one?” 🙂
Oh my goodness, Yaasss would look so fresh for spring! I have NYX Twisted but this one is different, more purple and cooler toned
I can see what you mean by being a little different!
Beautiful swatches!
They are all so pretty, I can’t decide… But I am leaning toward that purple. A girl can never have too much purple!
By the way, Belladonna is back! I just saw it listed on the OCC site with the other RTW colors. Yay!
Yay! 😀
Yaasss loots like a dupe for Kat Von D Ayesha liquid lipstick, I like Kats formula more.
Kind of!
Christine…how would you compare these to the Mac ones. I can get either one of the two brands and now I’m confused.
The MAC ones dry down fully, so they are more matte and also more long-wearing — but they are more dryiong.
YAASSSS looks really nice! I think I may have to get it.
It’s a very cool shade of purple!
Because neon fuschia gives me a bit of a green cast to my skin, Adorbs is a no-go.
But Twerk ( that name! Good grief!) looks like a the berry shades I tend to go in for! I probably have too many, though…but I do love this one a lot!?
YASSS is awesome for a purple lover like me! I’d have to try it on to make sure it’s not too cool-toned, however.
These names are OTT, though. I would hate to have someone say: “oh, that’s such a pretty lipstick you have on! What is it ?” me: “Twerk?”???
Just tell them you don’t remember instead 🙂 “It’s by Tarte!”
I love the shades. Adorbs is tempting my fuchsia hoarder.
These are pretty ones!
This formula is getting slaughtered on the Sephora reviews. Clearly they only report on their purchases, but maybe there’s a caveat emptor factor. (Buyer Beware). Could be that there is an issue w/ the QC on these. Hope not. The shade names are a tad too targeted: I’d have to scrape the label off, if one appealed to me! Any person pushing 70 who wears a shade named Twerk ought to way love it……or be sectioned.
The consistency seems to vary from shade to shade – some are runny, some are almost mousse/paste-like. Then one was crumbly? yet runny.
Very nice. I wish they weren’t drying and a bit smoother but I think I can mitigate those issues! These colors are phenomenal!
Let me know if you try any of ’em, Erin!
I wasn’t planning on buying any of these .. you changed my mind LOL. They look amazing on your lips and not as dry as the other brands.
They’re definitely not as dry (also not as matte, so there is that!).
Twerk is a lovely shade of pink.
It is!
Those names… 🙂 I like the look of Adorbs.
Yay!
I really like the look of these, but there is the lipline thing. If Tarte was available I think I would have to get Yaasss and Twerk.
I would be quite interesting if someone were to ask for your lipcolour and you.d have to answer, Twerk! 🙂
The lip line thing is probably the biggest downside to these in general 🙁
The colours and formula both look great, but I just can’t get past the names. Feels like my Mum got a tumblr and wants to fit in :/
I totally understand!
These colors are so pretty, but I prefer a satin or glossy finish. Plus, I find that I just don’t wear my liquid lipsticks as often as lipsticks that come in a traditional bullet or even pencil form. Partly because I usually need to touch up at least once during the day, and that’s usually harder to do with the liquid formulas. But I guess liquid lipsticks must be really popular, because so many brands keep coming out with more and more of them!
It seems like there are already six new formulas for spring!
Wow! I hope that some of them are not matte!
