Tarte Color Splash Hydrating Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.12 oz.) is supposed to be a “long-wearing and moisture-rich, full-coverage lipstick” that is available in 24 shades. The range is exclusive to Sephora/Tarte at this time. The consistency of the formula has an incredibly smooth, creamy feel to it and has enough substance and thickness to it that it adheres well to the lips and usually doesn’t pull into lip lines. I felt like the formula felt slightly more emollient initially and “dried” a bit to more of a satin-to-cream finish after a few minutes (but not a true dry down, as it wasn’t transfer-resistant!). The majority of shades were very pigmented, easy to apply, comfortable to wear with light to moderate hydration over time, and lasted between four and seven hours on me.

A few of the lightest and darkest shades weren’t as pigmented or were less flattering on the lips compared to more of the medium shades. There did not seem to be any added fragrance to it (smelled slightly waxy), and I didn’t notice any taste.

With the exception of the browner or peachier nudes, almost all of these would be great for my stash. I have quite a few dupes but with how moisturizing these are, I might replace some of the others with these if the formula works for me and I’m done with the others.

Gotta look beyond the end cap. And at Ulta. The only one I liked was beach waves. S was featuring the browns. Maybe my lips or memory are failing me. I think salt lyfe was brown, too. Maybe the lighting or it was a brown corner! This is a very nice collection and I hope I find s.t.

Every time I consider a mid-range lipstick, I ask myself if there’s a Mac one I would rather have and I compare the prices. Mac almost always wins just because all the other brands are so much more expensive.

Christine how does this formulation compare to make up forever artist rouge lipsticks? They cost about the same don’t they?

Lots of lipsticks have similar prices! 🙂

These don’t have the same scent (the MUFE one is really strong), and these are creamier with less shine than MUFE’s Creams and more shine than MUFE’s Mattes. The MUFE Mattes feel totally different.

Are these like the double duty lipsticks at all? For some reason those are so creamy that they form that goopy, inner lip ring really quickly on me. (without even using the gloss side) I like the look of these but not if they do that…
