Colada
Tarte Colada Color Splash Hydrating Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.12 oz.) is muted, medium peachy brown with warm undertones and a cream finish. It had good pigmentation, though it was shy of being full coverage, that went on evenly and smoothly. The lipstick was slightly more emollient than others in the range, and I had a touch of color that pulled into my lip lines as a result, though I did not feel it was noticeable from a normal viewing distance (only in the close-up photos). This shade wore nicely for five and a half hours and was hydrating while worn.
The formula is supposed to be “long-wearing,” “full coverage,” and hydrating. The consistency has an incredibly smooth, creamy feel to it and has enough substance and thickness to it that it adheres well to the lips and usually doesn’t pull into lip lines. I felt like the formula felt slightly more emollient initially and “dried” a bit to more of a satin-to-cream finish after a few minutes (but not a true dry down, as it wasn’t transfer-resistant!). The majority of shades were very pigmented, easy to apply, comfortable to wear with light to moderate hydration over time, and lasted between four and seven hours on me. A few of the lightest and darkest shades weren’t as pigmented or were less flattering on the lips compared to more of the medium shades. There did not seem to be any added fragrance to it (smelled slightly waxy), and I didn’t notice any taste.

5 O'Clock
Tarte 5 O’Clock Color Splash Hydrating Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, dark plum with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had intense color coverage that applied beautifully–smooth, even, and didn’t sink into my lip lines. The lipstick felt creamy enough to be comfortable to wear and apply without dragging, but it never felt slippery. It wore well for six hours and was moisturizing over time.

Oh no, 5′ O clock looks so pretty!!! And an A+ rating too. If I don’t have any dupes, will grab
Here’s hoping you have a dupe!
These are splendid! Definitely shades I’ve always gravitated towards, too.
But 5 O’Clock is the STAR of this set! It dupes 2 shades of MAC lipsticks that have basically lived on my WL forever: Verve and Touch. Both of which I keep promising myself I’ll get. 5 O’Clock is a gorgeous cf option, as I’m trying to buy more cf products going forward.
5 O’Clock is a winner! 🙂
5 o’clock is really nice. I’d have to swatch though.
It is a good shade!
My favorite is 5 O’clock; such a pretty shade.
It is a beauty!
Every time a new review of this range comes out, I have 4 more colours to add to my list 🙁 Honestly, these are some of the best quality lipsticks I’ve seen!! The colour range is impressive too!
Uh oh!! Your poor wish list!
I really love 5 O’clock. I love every plummy shade out there and since it didn’t settle into lip lines I am all in!
That seems to be everyone’s favorite, lol!
I’d love to see a review on the Rainforest of the Sea foundation! I picked it up (and some of these lipsticks) during the last sale and am still struggling with how best to apply it and what primer to use with it.
I already reviewed it awhile ago – when it initially released!
Lovely lipsticks! I like them all, but I love 5 O’Clock. A good thing that MAC Verve is a dupe, I might get it instead.
It get’s expensive, buying from outside the EU, the tax is OK, but then the post or FedEx or whatever carrier the package is sent with want’s a fee for doing next to nothing, and I find that really, really annoying.
In spite of this I sometime do buy from the US, and now I’m really tempted.
Oooh, I love these! Not sure if I need Siesta or 5’O Clock. Guess I’ll need to head out to check! 🙂
Thank you so much for doing these reviews! I just ordered Five O’clock (luckily I have a Sephora code for $10 off this month). I liked Mac’s Verve but, it was just a bit too dark on me (my complexion has similar undertones as yours but is lighter). I always thought a lighter version of Verve would be perfect for me–and now I’ve found one! Thanks!
My pleasure, Christine!
Thanks so much–I tried it and absolutely love it! I’ve really come to rely on your reviews. Keep up the great work!
