Berry Mojito
Tarte Berry Mojito Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a rich, reddish burgundy with subtle, cool undertones and barely-there pearl. The finish was glossier compared to most shades in the range, and I expect that was due to the higher amount of slip. While I didn’t personally experience feathering with the shade, this would be one that I’d recommend wearing with a lip liner if feathering is an issue for you. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, which applied fairly evenly and smoothly across the lips. This shade wore well for six hours and left a stain behind while also being hydrating.
The formula is supposed to be “long-wearing,” “full coverage,” and hydrating. The consistency has an incredibly smooth, creamy feel to it and has enough substance and thickness to it that it adheres well to the lips and usually doesn’t pull into lip lines. I felt like the formula felt slightly more emollient initially and “dried” a bit to more of a satin-to-cream finish after a few minutes (but not a true dry down, as it wasn’t transfer-resistant!). The majority of shades were very pigmented, easy to apply, comfortable to wear with light to moderate hydration over time, and lasted between four and seven hours on me. A few of the lightest and darkest shades weren’t as pigmented or were less flattering on the lips compared to more of the medium shades. There did not seem to be any added fragrance to it (smelled slightly waxy), and I didn’t notice any taste.

Yachting
Tarte Yachting Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a deep, reddish plum with warmer undertones and a cream finish. It had medium, buildable coverage (up to semi-opaque) that applied fairly evenly on my lips. The issue I had with this shade was that it seemed to very slight bits of color that weren’t mixed in well so there were a few “grains” of product that appeared more pigmented and had to be blended in. The texture was lightly creamy, not too emollient, and was comfortable to wear. The lipstick stayed on nicely for six hours, left a stain behind, and was moisturizing.

High Dive
Tarte High Dive Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a deep plum with neutral-to-warm undertones and a cream finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff that applied fairly evenly on my lips, but I had trouble getting the color to adhere as evenly along the inner portion of my lips. The consistency felt more emollient and slippery on compared to other shades, too. It was very comfortable to wear but might be a shade that requires a liner if feathering is an issue for you (I did not have this one feather on me, though). The color wore well for six hours, left a very faint stain behind, and was hydrating.

Love the colors, but these are definitely in the same color family!
They are! I feel like Tarte’s range here is like Hourglass’ Girl Stylos – the right plum for every undertone – but overall, not a TON of variety.
These look far smoother than I wad expecting! Berry Mojito is really nice, and a great backup option for when my tube of Media either gets used up or turns bad. The name is fun, too!?
If you finish Media before it turns bad, I’ll be impressed!
This is a trio of beautiful reds. A bit more autumn and winter than spring but what the heck. It can’t always be pastels and neutrals.
Sometimes it’s nice to change it up! 🙂
Now THESE are the shades I like!!! 😀 😀
I love every one of these three, but I’ll have to pair it down to one or two to get. period. WAH!
I know I’d wear the berry/plum/purple shades the most, but I own SO MANY of those.
So I should get a really good nude/neutral. Hmmm
Which two are you leaning toward?
What nice colours! I like all of them, and have a dupe for Yachting, UD Venom, so at least I don’t have to order that one.
I am contemplating an order to Tarte, I am curious and it would be fun to try. I have to wait a bit and save up for it, I spent by far too much this month.
Thankfully, you don’t have to rush for these!
Am I the only one that thought al these looked alike?
I did group them together for a reason! 🙂
Oh snap! The comment was of course direct towards Tarte. I am used to LARGE cosmetics line promoting a large variety of nudes and reds to accommodate every skin tone and mood, but I have never seen ANY line invest so heavily in the slight nuances of dark berry. I suspect this will not be a money maker for the company and expect to see many of theses shades discotinued or on sale within the next 24 months, IMHO.
I guess it depends on who their demographic/audience is 🙂 In the past, Tarte has been a more neutral-based brand and Hourglass did a similar release of a shade for every skin tone – and they did well with that!
Oh my – these are gorgeous lipsticks -especially the Berry Mojito shade. Stunning.
They are stunning shades!
Those are quite nice! I was eyeing Nicolas but maybe Berry Mojito would be better!
I like all three of these, but Yachting is my favorite. I have UD Venom, though, so I’ll probably just mix a little black in with it for a similar effect.
Venom is definitely close enough 🙂
