Kate

Marc Jacobs Kate Le Marc Lip Creme ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark, rosy mauve with subtle, cool undertones and satin finish. It was richly pigmented with a creamy, smooth consistency that wasn’t too slippery nor was it too dry in the tube, so it glided on without tugging and delivered even coverage. The texture sat well on my lips and seemed to smooth out some of the texture on my lips. The lipstick was comfortable to wear and felt non-drying throughout the time it lasted (which was seven hours).

The formula is described as “highly pigmented” with “10-hour” wear and is “hydrating.” If you like creamy, satin-like color that’s very pigmented and comfortable to wear but aren’t going to hold the brand to its 10-hour wear time claim, the formula is well worth checking out! My experience with most shades has been the wear has been between four and eight hours, and they have been comfortable to wear with a few shades that can feel a bit drying toward the end of wear. There is a faint, floral scent but no discernible taste.

Formula Overview

$30.00/0.12 oz. - $250.00 Per Ounce

The formula claims to have "10-hour" wear with “vivid pigment” and a “rich, velvety” texture that is “ultra-hydrating.” As you might expect, they don’t last ten hours; they last four to six hours with some leaving a stain. The texture is lightweight, creamy, and glides on without dragging or tugging on the lip, but it doesn’t have a lot of slip so it stays in place. The formula can be lightly hydrating to drying, depending on the shade. The lipstick has a sweet, floral scent, but it is very subtle, even when smelled directly from the tube.

Wow. Your swatches of Kate look like a completely different lipstick than mine! Mine is also excellent but mine is more like a warm toned dusty rose with reddish brown undertones. Seriously – looks completely different! (If you’re curious, I posted my swatch yesterday.) I am stunned at the QC for this brand….

Omg, this is my total problem these days. Salt lyfe was brown and epigram looks like Lolita. WTF? Am really enjoying your swatches, esp as you are closer to my skintones than C, but really like how you do the lighting. You should use your pretty face more!

It seems to be an ongoing issue across a few brands. I actually heard from another friend that they saw swatches of this shade that looked different from mine AND Christine’s! I looked at them and sure enough, there’s a 3rd shade of Kate “out there”. I guess the best anyone can do, is buy what they think they may like from a retailer with a good return policy if the version you get doesn’t match the batch you wanted. Honestly, don’t know. I wanted mine to look like the gorgeous one Christine got! In fact, based on Christine’s swatches, I’m considering trying to buy another one. And thank you – I hate taking selfies though. I do have one up on Facebook at the moment though.

I feel the same way about Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks. It seems the shade of one’s lips can vary how lipstick shades look that I’ve given up trying to buy a CT lipstick online.

ARGH. I really want this shade, because I think it would be a really nice everyday colour for me (and for other reasons I’m going to assume are kind of obvious), but so far, I can’t find a retailer in Canada that has it. (I heard it was exclusive to the MJ site, but it’s not there either, as far as I can see.) I really hope I’m able to track it down!

OH! That’s a good shade for me for a daily wear. I like the one MJ lippie I have, I didn’t find it drying too much but if I wore it more than one day in a row than I would get a bit of an issue. It’s very similar in drying level for me as the NARS matte pencils. Which is fine, I’m just terrible at remembering to rotate something in every other day with more moisture and slip.

This one is on my wish list. I’m glad you gave it a good review and it looks so nice on you. . I need a shade like this.

It’s pretty! It’s the kind of shade I always gravitate to, but I prefer matte finishes.

Your eye look here is amazing! Love the pop of green against purple and gold.

I’ve been looking for a better quality lipstick that would be a match to nyx doll, this looks like it might be it. Any way you can compare? I love that shade and I find many similar but when on my lips they are different.

I am a fan of these lipsticks. I just received this shade yesterday. So, far not regretting the purchase. I find the formula very comfortable and don’t mind reapplying it. I wish they would expand the shade range though, add more of the newer shades in fashion, more mauves and browns. That would be awesome.

I have four shades, I wore Kate yesterday. They all last around the same time for me, 4-6 hours (depending on what I am eating and how much I am eating lol) I honestly don’t mind that, my lips are not in pain and its looks nice 😀
