Urban Decay Retrograde 24/7 Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliner ($22.00 for 0.07) is a blackened purple with lighter purple, pink, and blue shimmer. It had semi-opaque coverage in one stroke, which was buildable to opaque coverage if I applied a second layer after the first one had dried down. (Trying to improve coverage while it is drying just moves the product around and creates an uneven, streaky result!) Once dry, the eyeliner stayed in place for the ten hours I wore it for. Zoeva Mr. Marvelous (P, $7.50) is less shimmery (95% similar). Smashbox Nymph (P, $18.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Stila Purple Tang (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Tarina Tarantino Cute Robot (DC, $15.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Th(ink) (44) (P, $26.00) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Dragon Smoke (LE, $22.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Urban Decay Empire (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, warmer (85% similar). Tarina Tarantino Amethyst Android (DC, $15.00) is less shimmery, lighter (80% similar). Liquid Liner was one of our original color products, and we’re always reinventing and improving it. Since we can never get enough color, we also wanted to expand our range with more dimensional shades and multiple finishes. The name comes from one of our photographers, who used to look in the lens and whisper, “Ooh, that’s razor sharp.” We thought the delivery was funny, but it also sounded like a good name for liquid liner. The precision brush really lives up to the moniker—it’s practically impossible to mess up. Still perfecting your technique? After giving the bottle a good shake, lean your elbow on a stable surface to keep your hand steady while you apply. Then, just draw down into your lashes so the upper part of the line is sharp and even.
