Editor's Review

The formula is typically described as "high-pigment" that "stays on your lids" and goes on "seamlessly." Their permanent range has a lot of fantastic shades in it, and many of them are pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. Some of their matte are real workhorse kind of shades with soft, smooth, silky, and blendable textures, while their shimmers and pearly shades are very rich in payoff and apply beautifully to the lid. They wear between seven and nine hours on me, depending on the shade and finish.

Claims / Ingredients

Urban Decay’s groundbreaking new eye shadow formula. This reformulation of Urban Decay’s eye shadow features even softer, amazingly velvety texture; richer, more dense and decadent color; smoother, more uniform pigment distribution and blendability; and longer-lasting, more crease-free wear. The new line of shadows features a completely revamped assortment of shades, new textures, and a totally redesigned token compact. The secret to the new formula is Urban Decay’s Pigment Infusion System™, a vehicle for color that holds tightly to pigment and gives the formula its glide. The proprietory blend of ingredients allows color to weave itself through the formula resulting in insane color payout, color that stays on your lids, and sparkle that doesn’t fall. The amazing technology works for every shade and finish. Every Urban Decay shade is silky, blendable, and stays put.

This is one of the shades I really liked in Vice3. I don't know if I got a bad one (I'm sure this can't really happen all that much with mass production like this) but I find this shadow a total pain in the neck to use. It just sticks in the brush and won't transfer at all to my eyelids. I press and push and brush and pick up more on the brush but still there is very little "pay-off". I've actually taken to using a fingertip to apply this - it's the only way I can get the lovely bronzey-brown shade onto my lid at all. I'm surprised that Christine found this to have intense colour payoff because my experience was exactly the opposite.

Really not a fan of this shadow. I have it in my Ammo Palette and I find it pretty much useless. It's meant to be sheer and it really is when applied, overly so. It just kind of blends out to nothing. Plus, it leaves glitter all over my face even though it hardly seems to show up on my eyes... Ick. I used it once and haven't touched it since. One and a half stars because the color isn't unattractive, I just wish it worked. I hope I find some way to make it look good so it doesn't just sit there. Doesn't make the Ammo Palette not worth it, but purchasing it on its own would be a mistake in my opinion.

I am surprised by just how much I love Strike and how beautifully it flatters my dark brown eyes. I thought it would be one of the colours that would go unused in the palette but I love pairing it with Derailed applied lightly for a daytime look or more heavily for an evening out look.

I have this, of course, in the Vice2 palette but I sincerely hope that Urban Decay sees fit to release this as a single shadow as it is just a wonderful rich taupe with the most beautiful finish. Not that I've ever actually finished an eye shadow but I can see this being the first one to be finished in this palette and it would be good to be able to buy it on its own. Perfect colour!

A large part of the reason I got the 15th Anniversary Palette (beyond the great value) was to get this colour which is a beautiful deep purple with a lush sheen. It leans more blue than red, so it works well for me and it's just beautiful. Pair it with a matte grey shadow and it's easy to wear/more work friendly but it's also great if you like more extreme looks.

How gorgeous is Pistol??? A grey/taupe shade with the most flattering, brightening shimmer. It's a shade that always looks great and pairs with so many other shadows but also stands alone for a great quick look on the eyes.

I first got this in the BOSIII and used it in such a miserly fashion because if I used it up, that was it! Then when it came out in the Naked 2 palette (which I wanted in any case), I was so happy. This is a beautiful bronzed champagne shade that is a delight to wear and mix with other shadow. LOVE it.

I have this in both the "old formula" in BOSIII and in the new formula as a single shadow. This is SUCH a beautiful colour and totally unique but the fallout (the type that can't be brushed away and that "keeps on giving" in that it will continue to fall throughout the day or evening) made Maui Wowie pretty much unwearable. But because the colour is so lovely, I broke down in hopes that the newer version would not have the fallout issue. Sadly, while it's better than the "old" version, there is still plenty of fallout to deal with. But the stunning colour makes it worth struggling with. Looks amazing on my brown eyes and I think it would suit any eye colour!

I have this shadow in the 15th Anniversary palette and I'm so glad to have it (in spite of the impractical packaging). This is such a beautiful shimmery brown with a gorgeous finish that just glows and doesn't have the annoying glitter-bomb fallout that far too many UD shadows have. The even pigmentation means this applies beautifully and easily - great colour payoff. It also blends easily, without loosing all its "oomph". This shade is perfect for autumn but feels right in summer too - that beachy, bronzey glow that is so flattering. I love this all over the lid or as an outer V shadow and smudged under my lower lashes, it is perfect too.

Gorgeous! It's a shame this is so hard to get hold of (only at Sephoras located in JCPenney or through UD directly). This is a complex shade that looks silvery-grey when you first look at it but it has a beautiful green undertone and actually looks a lot like MAC's Greensmoke, only better, more pigmented.

I have this as in the Naked 2 palette, and as far as I'm concerned it the most amazing inner-corner highlight color in the world. It's just the right amount of shiny and light, but not too decidedly warm or cool. My eyes look luminous and amazing. Palette is almost worth it for this shade alone.

I am extremely pale (Bobbi Brown Alabaster) and Laced is the perfect color to go through my crease to create a natural shadow. Sometimes those light browns like MAC Omega can look too harsh. That is when I reach for Laced. Laced goes on very smooth and blends like a dream. I pair Laced with Anonymous or Broken when I want a very natural eye look. I would highly recommend this for anyone who has a cool undertone and is also fair in terms of using this as a crease color. For those with darker skins, Laced can be used to soften out harsh edges.

This is one of my favourite UD Eyeshadow shades. Applies beautifully. Please note: This eyeshadow is quite pigmented, and because of that, you may experience some fallout if you pick up too much product at once. I always make sure to gently tap off any excess to prevent this, and layer this colour over a base or primer. The base/primer also helps bring out this beautiful shade!

This is a beautiful melon peachy colour that lights up your eyes without making them look red or tired at all. I like using it as a crease colour with a light golden colour all over lids and a brown gel liner. My only complaint is that it is a little powdery so one just has to be careful not to be too rough with their brush. It's a dream to blend, apply and it stays where you put it ;)
