Pat McGrath Executive Realness & Extravaganza MatteTrance Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Executive Realness
Pat McGrath Executive Realness MatteTrance Lipstick ($38.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark plum with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. The color coverage was fantastic–full coverage in a single layer–that applied evenly and smoothly without tugging or dragging on my lips. It had a velvety, lightly creamy texture that was thicker but not heavy or difficult to work with, and the color seemed to smooth out most of my lip lines. This shade lasted for over seven hours on me, left a moderate pinkish stain behind, and was lightly hydrating.

Formula Overview
$38.00/0.14 oz. - $271.43 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be “richly pigmented” with “”supreme hydration” and “opulent matte opacity.” The consistency was smooth, velvety, and dense without being too firm for one-stroke, glide-on application (I found the original shades to be slightly firmer compared to more newly released shades). They had nearly opaque to opaque coverage in one layer and most were buildable.
They had a subtle sheen--more satin-to-cream in finish--that wore down to a natural matte finish within an hour or two of wear. The formula lasted between four and eight hours on me, and while most weren't drying, they aren't "supreme[ly" hydrating either. They are, however, comfortable to wear over a longer period of time and reapply well. There was no discernible scent or taste to the formula.

Extravaganza
Pat McGrath Extravaganza MatteTrance Lipstick ($38.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a deep magenta with cool, blue undertones and a cream finish. It had more shine than most of the MatteTrance shades, though it naturally wore down to a more matte finish within two hours of wear. The texture was lightweight, creamy, and smooth with a touch more slip compared to other shades in the same formula. It had opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and did not streak, but there was a bit of product that sat in my deeper lip lines, though it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. It wore well for over seven hours, left a fuchsia stain behind, and was moisturizing while worn.

Well, thank goodness I have two great dupes for Extravaganza, but Executive Realness is the shade that truly grabbed me in the sneak peak because I (surprisingly) don’t have a dupe, and now I see that it earned an A+ rating. I have a funny feeling that my wallet is trying to run and hide from me right now.
Little wonder that I loved Extravaganza. I own its 1st two dupes mentioned!
Executive Realness looks just like a lipstick I owned and went through around 3-4 tubes of during the late 70’s and 80’s. It was simply called “Rose”. I believe it was made by Almay? It’s been far too many years to remember anything but the shade name. My Mom loved that shade on me! And like Rose, this is that same perfect rose color. Therefore….I must get this.
Both these shades are right up my alley. So gorgeous.
These look super amazeballs.
Really beautiful bright pink shades and excellent value.
My word that’s lovely. And I have no dupes. Don’t need … don’t need … don’t need …………
I meant Executive Realness; didn’t even notice there was another color in the review, that’s how blown away I am.
I feel compelled to mention that I find the outer packaging (cardboard container) for Extravaganza completely unappealing — especially the side with the teeth. Not sure how that sells the lipstick.
How lovely these lipsticks are. Executive Realness is one I’ll most certainly get. The top dupe is one I’ve wanted for years, and why I’ve never ordered it from NARS remains a mystery to me.
I have at least one dupe for Extravaganza, but I still want it.
I really like the MatteTrance formula a lot.
I ordered Extravaganza last week. God, PM makes gorgeous looking lipsticks.
Executive Realness is STUNNING. I might have to splurge a little bit for my birthday. 🙂
It is a stunning color!
