15 x Too Faced Then and Now Eyeshadow Palette Look Ideas
Too Faced Then and Now Cheers to 20 Years Eyeshadow Palette ($59.00 for 0.80 oz.) contains 22 eyeshadows to play with, but for anyone who tends to incorporate more matte finishes into their look, it did feel like it was lacking in that department due to the numerous shimmery and glittery shades included in the line-up. That being said, it was no hardship to come up with at least a dozen color combinations. By eye, it might help, visually, someone who finds seeing color combinations a bit more challenging, to look at the palette in two parts, as the left half of the palette is warmer, more neutral, while the right half of the palette is cooler and more dominated by purples/blues. You can also look at them in “quads,” which I definitely could see working for various looks.
About This Series
Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease.
You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

That gold, bronze and teal eye look you did is not just calling my name – it’s SCREAMING at me. I just wish this palette were better but I am hoping I can create a similar looking with the bazillion shadows I already own.
I bet you could get close with Empreinte du Desert…
I LOVE this series, even when I don’t own the specific palettes. It gives me inspiration for finding similar colors in my collection.
So glad it can help you, Marina! 😀
Wow – there are tons of eye looks you can get with this palette – and you have given us lots of ideas. Thank you Christine.
Another palette that would encourage one to choose any four shades in a row, or any four shades in a box (2 top row, 2 bottom row) to play with for experimentation purposes. Not saying every combination would work, and some would certainly test one’s creativity and skill, but it’s definitely laid out well for playing around.
Yep! I really saw the two top/two bottom “quads” working well almost across the board, and you could also go over one column as well and that still seemed to work visually (like instead of Twinkie/Pixie Dust/Glitter Donut/Lost Boys, then Pixie Dust/Dirt Bag, Lost Boys/NSFW). I DO think one will need to bring in some go-to mattes and the like, but I definitely saw more combos in the palette than I would have expected looking at the palette as a whole.
2, 3, 5, 9, 10, and 11 are all politely asking me to please find similar colors in my stash and start experimenting.
Thanks for this post. I love eye shadow, but I’m a total idiot when it comes to putting colors together.
Happy to help, Steph!
