Give It Up
NARS Give It Up Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a bright, medium-dark berry with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation, though it wasn’t fully opaque in a single layer. The consistency was lightweight, thin but not watery, and spreadable, which made it easy to work the product along the lips and edges of the lips. It dried down for the most part and stayed in place for five and a half hours. It was neither drying nor hydrating over time.
The new formula is described as “liquefied pigments with infinite matte color saturation for lasting, weightless wear.” It’s supposed to have “full coverage in one swipe” that “dries down instantly” for “smudge-resistant, carefree wear.” The formula has a very fluid consistency that is thin, smooth, but not at all watery, and the majority of shades were nearly opaque or opaque in a single layer. The dry down started quickly but was forgiving as I maneuvered around the edges of the lips but remained a bit tacky when I pressed my lips together for over a half hour later, though as long as I did not press my lips together until five minutes post-application, the color did not lift. I have found the wear to be comfortable so far–non-drying–but not the longest-wearing nor the most budge-proof in liquid lipstick, as just sipping water, tea, or coffee caused color to transfer onto my cups. There was plenty of coverage, so it still lasted through drinking but did start to break down noticeably during a meal. Even just touching the color after a half hour of wearing it yielded color on my fingertips. The formula had a soft, vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Warm Leatherette
NARS Warm Leatherette Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a deep berry with cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, though you could see my lip freckle peek through slightly. The liquid lipstick has a thin consistency that spread easily across the lips but wasn’t watery, so it didn’t appear streaky or uneven. It took nearly an hour for all of it to fully dry down (the photos were taken at the half hour mark), and it was still a touch tacky throughout the wear. On me, this shade wore well for five and a half hours, left a subte stain behind, and was non-drying.

Love your “wearing the product” images Christine, but they’re also a little irritating; how do you manage to look good in 99% of the colors you swatch? Seriously … coral, hot pink, warm red, cool red, purple, blue, black, orange, burgundy, brown, green … and it just goes on. I **wear** all those colors, but they’re meant to suit my mood, not flatter me, and most don’t. You, on the other hand … grrrrr.
I swear, the only colors I’ve seen on you that didn’t seem made for you were a handful of uber-pale pastels and yellow. I think most of us regular folk would be happy to look good in 1/4 of the colors we tried on.
I swear it’s just seeing it on someone else vs. seeing it on ourselves – we are more critical of ourselves 🙂
Pffft. That’s one theory. I’m sticking with “you’re magical.” 😉
For the 1st two, I have MAC Sí, Sí Me. One of my favorite lipsticks ever! But surprisingly, no dupe for Don’t Stop….yet. Although I have UD 714 Vice Liquid on my WL, and that or Ruby Woo are my picks for a clear, bright red.
On the other hand, I think these look stunning and sound pretty comfy for liquid matte lipsticks!
They are comfortable for sure! That’s probably the best thing about them.
I like that they look thin compared to other liquid lipsticks. But ABH and Huda’s formula is also starting to go thinner. 😉
The formula range seems very impressive! I need to find out if their nude colours are similarly positive!
Here’s hoping!
Don’t stop is gorgeous
It is!
These are really intense shades, but I am not sure I like the matte finish.
I can see that – the matte finish isn’t for everyone!
This is a crop of winners!
I tried don’t stop because it was either that or starwoman for a pretty classic red. Don’t stop is a gorgeous not too bright classic red on my fair complexion (nc15 here!) Even my bf approves
thank god I got this one instead of the fenty one. No regrets whatsoever. it’s so thin but yet it doesn’t bleed! I don’t like the applicator on the fenty, I’ve tried that type of applicator and I don’t like it. And as Ive guessed the color are almost exactly 99 percent the same.
