NARS Get It On, Just What I Needed, Slow Ride Powermatte Lip Pigments Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Get It On
NARS Get It On Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a light-medium, rosy brown with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. While completely opaque, the lipstick did not dry down for an hour–I took photos after a half hour–and remained lightly tacky for the first three hours of wear. The texture was thin but very fluid and substantial, so there was plenty of product and great color payoff in a single layer. It cracked at my deeper lip line (my lower lip) noticeably and had a tendency to fade a bit more unevenly compared to other shades. It wore well for four and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating.
The new formula is described as “liquefied pigments with infinite matte color saturation for lasting, weightless wear.” It’s supposed to have “full coverage in one swipe” that “dries down instantly” for “smudge-resistant, carefree wear.” The formula has a very fluid consistency that is thin, smooth, but not at all watery, and the majority of shades were nearly opaque or opaque in a single layer. The dry down started quickly but was forgiving as I maneuvered around the edges of the lips but remained a bit tacky when I pressed my lips together for over a half hour later, though as long as I did not press my lips together until five minutes post-application, the color did not lift. I have found the wear to be comfortable so far–non-drying–but not the longest-wearing nor the most budge-proof in liquid lipstick, as just sipping water, tea, or coffee caused color to transfer onto my cups. There was plenty of coverage, so it still lasted through drinking but did start to break down noticeably during a meal. Even just touching the color after a half hour of wearing it yielded color on my fingertips. The formula had a soft, vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Just What I Needed
NARS Just What I Needed Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a muted, meidum-dark plummy brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had rich, opaque color coverage that applied evenly and was easy to maneuver along the edges of the lips. The texture was lightweight, thin but not watery, and dried down to a mostly matte finish (just a bit tacky). The color “cracked” very slightly at my deeper lip lines, though it felt flexible overall. It lasted for five hours and was non-drying.

Slow Ride
NARS Slow Ride Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a muted, dark brown with warm, rosy undertones and a matte finish. The color payoff was nearly opaque, while the consistency was smooth, fluid without being watery (though it was very lightweight), and spread evenly across the lips. The dry down cracked slightly along my deeper lip lines, where the color separated along lip lines. It never fully dried down and was just a bit tacky, and while the color wasn’t movable, there was some light transfer at any given moment (whether I patted with a fingertip or sipped water). It wore well for five hours and was non-drying.

I like the colors, but not a fan of this liquid matte finish, seems to add lip lines that don’t exist
That’s how I often feel about mattes!
These all seem to warm for me and needs a closure look but they are cool shades options for sure that can rock brown tones.
These are definitely on the warmer side!
Yea, I am not feeling any of these. If the colors are something that I really love I will make a matte liquid lipstick work by putting balm underneath but none of these colors appeal to me. I also have a bit of an issue with Nars no longer being cruelty free. I am not one who gets really rabid about no cruelty products but I find I am trying to move in that direction more and more. Nars has no reason for being non-cruelty except to sell in China where the makeup industry is making huge inroads to the tune of billions and billions of dollars. China is like a new frontier for their products and they all want a piece of the action. I know it is about money but being so blatant about it gets me and so I won’t be purchasing any more products from Nars. Why would you completely reverse your stance? You aren’t making enough?
Sounds like these will be an easy skip!
Oh no! When did NARS lose cruelty free status?? They were on my ok to buy list! I went cf for my New Year’s resolution.
Lindsay, I saw a post on their Instagram and then it was also mentioned on a couple of blogs. I think Jen from the YT channel “Jen Loves Reviews” also mentioned it during either her regular Sunday “What’s Up in Makeup” show or one of her recent “The Minute Makeup”. Yes, it is very disappointing.
Okay, let me get this out of the way first; your eye look is utter summer PERFECTION.
Now onto the lipsticks!
Just What I Needed is my favorite out of this set, and it doesn’t seem to have any *clear* dupes in my stash as of yet. But I have forever wanted MAC Verve or Double Shot, this may last better, no?
Maybe slightly longer, though MAC lipsticks are decently long-wearing!
I agree with Nancy, the eye look is amazing! Are these from the latest NARS palette or individuals?
Just what I needed is STUNNING and my kind of colour!!!I love it!!
Im not going to purchase, and I haven’t really been looking at the reviews of these. Because I’m so into juicy, glossy lips right now!
I’m glad we’re seeing a mix of matte & shine right now!
Too bad they test on animals now …no beauty is worth inhumane cruelty. Pass
I listed dupes should something interest you but you would prefer to buy from another brand!
Just what I needed is cute!
