Bobbi Brown Love Eye Shadow Trio Review, Photos, Swatches
Love
Bobbi Brown Love Eye Shadow Trio ($40.00 for 0.25 oz.) includes three, warmer neutral shades in shimmery finishes. The first shade was lovely, while the middle shade had a lot of fallout during the day, and the last shade was more pigmented than described (which some may prefer).
The trio is comprised of different finishes from the brand. The Metallic Eye Shadow finish is described as a “high-shimmer, high-pigment” formula. The Sparkle Eye Shadow finish is supposed to be a “featherweight” formula with “shimmering pearls and fine sparkle.” The Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow finish is described as a “sheer wash of shimmer.”

Driftwood
Driftwood is a deep, chocolaty brown with warm, golden undertones and a pearly sheen. It had intense, opaque pigmentation that applied evenly to bare skin and blended with ease along the edges. The consistency felt soft without being dusty and was easy to work with. It wore well for eight hours on me.

Oyster
Oyster is a sparkling, peachy-beige with warm undertones and a glittery finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff paired with an almost cream-like texture–it had a wet feel to it. There was minor fallout during initial application, but there was a noticeable amount of fallout throughout the day (I kept getting it in my eye) so I would not use it without an adhesive base. The base color lasted for seven and a half hours on me.

Sandy
Sandy is a light, golden brown with warmer undertones and a pearly sheen. It had good pigmentation–not at all the sheer wash the finish was described as having!–that blended out nicely on the lid. The consistency was soft, lightly dusty, and easy to work with. It wore well for seven hours on me.

While there is nothing new or exciting in this and I’m sure most of us have dupes aplenty, I think if I were fairly new to makeup, I would want this. I have to say, though, that Bobbi’s shimmer wash/glittery shadows can be so disappointing. I do wish Bobbi would figure a way to reformulate.
The glittery shades can be very inconsistent! I had NO fun testing these at all as my eyes were irritated all day long. I’d NEVER wear the Sparkle formula for fun. It’s been awhile since I’ve tried Bobbi Brown’s eyeshadows, but the trios looked fun and wouldn’t be overwhelming to review.
Mariella, you perfectly summarized my thoughts on BB’s shimmerwash/sparkle eyeshadows, which seem overly-represented in BB palettes. I’m also hoping the brand reformulates these finishes.
Nice colors, I really like Oyster. I know I have dupes for Oyster and Driftwood, I need to check about Sandy though. I like the names for this palette too.
I hope you can find a dupe for Sandy!
For $40, this needs to score an A
I agree!
It’s an “okay” little trio, but not only do I already have similar naked/neutral shades, I would rather spend my $’s on a much more interesting Viseart or (new) Dior 5 or 6 shade palette instead.
Then again, I could see this one making for a nice travel trio, i suppose.
I feel like these trios aren’t bad but aren’t really that showstopping relative to the price.
I REALLY like this one! It would be a total work horse for me, for travel, or for every day quick looks.
I love the exact shade and tone of these. But I just can’t justify, almost $50 on a trio of shadows.
I can justify $52 on MUFE trios, because I know the formula works so well for me. But Iv never used this formula before.
SIGH!
MUFE singles seem like they’d be bigger, too, so you’re getting more for your money. Plus, you can rearrange 🙂
Shannon, many, many moons ago I bought the Dior 3 Couleurs in Khaki – full price at something like $52.. because cosmetics are really expensive here. And I have used and used this little trio every single month because it goes with everything I wear….
So my message is – yes, it’s expensive, but if you are going to use it everyday/week and especially when travelling – the rating is pretty good – then I would buy it..
I am underwhelmed by this Palette ! Thanks for posting the review .
No problem!
This is more like it! Love this little trio of gorgeous neutral shades. It’s a shame that the second shade had a bit of fall out, but these are really co-ordinated shades, with a good degree of contrast.
It’s expensive, all the shades are dupable, but it doesn’t matter because I love it.
Gorgeous eye look too Christine.
Thank you so much, Genevieve!
These look so similar to the new eyeshadow trios that ELF has for sale. The Elf has a matte, shimmer and satin (I think, but second-hand information.) I saw a photo of one of the Elf trios and thought it was of this Bobbi Brown collection. I don’t know how it would review but I know it costs less than $10!
I just had to go check it out, I made myself curious-lol!
They are called the Sculpting Silk Eyeshadows and cost $4!
It would be interesting to see how they compared!
I like how this looks on you. Nice but $40 is expensive for 3 shadows. Although I’m a Bobbi Brown fan, she makes several of my favorites -black plum eye liner , peach corrector. And my coveted Chrome gray eye shadow palette.
I’ve found I like her base products and blush products a lot more than her powder eye shadows (on average). The Metallic finish is pretty good, though!
