NABLA Cosmetics Secret Eyeshadow Palette ($45.00 for 0.39 oz.) is the brand’s newest palette, which debuted a few weeks ago. The first row are rosier neutrals, while the third row contains warmer yellow/gold-based neutrals (plus black). The second row has some of the richer pops of colors. I liked how the palette came together, and I felt like there was a nice range in depth, finish, and colors to get an assortment of looks out of it.

The matte formula was quite good throughout the palette, but I did have issues with the new “Diamond” finish, which was shown as opaque on the brand’s swatches but was definitely not the case for me in practice. If you’re the type who expected to use those shades as “toppers,” then I think you’ll enjoy most of the palette.

Aesthetic

Aesthetic is a soft, golden brown with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had opaque color payoff with a soft, slightly drier texture that was still easy to work with and applied evenly to bare skin. This shade stayed on well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview

$8.00/0.09 oz. - $88.89 Per Ounce

The brand has a few different powder eyeshadow formulations, and because they don't just differ in finish but in price, they're listed as individual formulas on Temptalia, but for ease, I wanted to keep the same overview available so it's easy to get a big picture overview of their powder eyeshadows generally!

Satin Eyeshadows are supposed to have a "gentle sheen" with "the finest pearls" that will have "excellent adhesion" and be "long-lasting." They can also be applied wet or dry, and some shades did apply more smoothly or had better pigmentation when applied with a dampened brush, but the majority were easy to work with dry. The texture was smooth, firm but not too dense, and most shades blended out easily as the formula wasn't stiff to work with. Most shades lasted seven to eight hours.

Top Coat Wet & Dry Eyeshadows are supposed to give a "wet effect" and can be used wet or dry but are suggested to be used by "dabbing them on with your fingers" or "trying it wet." I found that these varied--some were really soft, blendable, and extremely pigmented with more fleck-like sparkle and others were drier and firmer with a thinner texture that was stiffer to work with. Most of them did apply best with fingertips or with a dampened brush over a dry brush. This finish is more interesting than the others, but I'd pay attention to the specific shades as there was some inconsistency. The wear time ranged from six to eight hours and slight to moderate fallout.

Super Matte Eyeshadows are "highly pigmented, completely opaque" with a "full, velvety" finish. The Super Mattes have a more finely-milled, velvety, and more substantial texture compared to the brand's Soft Matte eyeshadows, and I also found that they were much more pigmented than the Soft Mattes, too. There was more fallout during application if I wasn't careful due to the Super Matte shades being so pigmented, though. If one prefers building up coverage, the Soft Mattes would be more suitable. The eyeshadows in this finish tended to wear seven to eight hours on me.

Soft Matte Eyeshadows are supposed to give a "soft and delicate" effect while blending "easily." While the brand mentions "soft and delicate," the swatches they provided of the shades in this finish were showing opaque coverage in one layer, so the expectation would be for true, full color coverage, but a lot of the shades in the finish seemed more muted (which could be interpreted as "soft and delciate"). My experience was that the pigmentation ranged from medium to opaque but most shades were buildable, and I felt like buildable, matte eyeshadows are much needed and quite versatile--there's a huge difference in a poorly pigmented eyeshadow and one that can be pigmented, just requiring two layers--the latter gives one a lot of control over how it can appear in a look. The shades in this finish seemed to fade a little faster on me with six to seven hour wear on average.

Pearl Eyeshadows are supposed to "apply evenly, blend well" with "excellent skin adhesion" and "long-lasting" wear with high pigmentation. These are your m re typical shimmery, powdery eyeshadow formula with light creaminess, moderately dense textures, and are usually quite easy to blend out. Most of the shades had semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that lasted between seven and eight hours on me. Some shades were very metallic and others were a soft frost.

Contigo

Contigo is a light, rosy brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was mostly opaque in one layer, which built up to full coverage with less than half of a layer. The texture was soft, velvety, and blendable on bare skin without being powdery or prone to sheering out. It wore well eight hours on me before there was some visible fading.

Big Experience

Big Experience is a bright, medium fuchsia pink with subtle, cool undertones and a frosted finish. It had rich color coverage that adhered well to bare skin and blended out without a fuss. Play Hard

Play Hard is a bright, white gold base that shifted between gold and green paired with a sparkling finish. It seemed to have a more transparent base to it, rather than an actual base color, so I wasn’t surprised at the more medium to semi-opaque “coverage” from it. (The brand’s promotional swatches show it as opaque, though.) I could feel the sparkles in the texture, but it was still smoother, a little cream-like, and more densely-packed in the pan. It worked best by pressing and patting it onto the skin with fingertips or a wet brush to maximize coverage and evenness, though a dry brush worked decently, especially if it was more for layering or to highlight the inner tearduct area. It lasted well for eight hours on me with slight fallout over time.

Rosemary

Rosemary is a deep, bluish-green with cool undertones and a metallic finish. It had rich pigmentation that adhered evenly and smoothly to bare skin, and I had no trouble blending out and diffusing the edges. The issue I had with this shade was that it seemed to fade a bit initially and looked more like a blackened green without all of that metallic shimmer. I had to use it with a wet brush to get more of that shine to come through. This shade stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before I noticed slight fading.

Addiction

Addiction is a deep, bluish-teal with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, which applied evenly to bare skin and blended out fairly well. I noticed that the color did darken a bit when applied over bare skin (and likely would do the same if the base wasn’t matte), though. The consistency was soft, lightly powdery in the pan, but it didn’t have fallout during application. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview

The brand has a few different powder eyeshadow formulations, and because they don't just differ in finish but in price, they're listed as individual formulas on Temptalia, but for ease, I wanted to keep the same overview available so it's easy to get a big picture overview of their powder eyeshadows generally!

Fantasize

Fantasize is a medium, purplish-blue with cool undertones and a sparkling finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage that was best applied with a fingertip or a dampened brush, which improved the intensity while ensuring it adhered smoothly and evenly to the lid. The texture was lightly creamy, dense but not firmly packed in the pan, and had minimal fallout during wear. It lasted well for eight hours on me before fading visibly.

Ingredients

calcium aluminum borosilicate, octyldodecyl stearoyl stearate, diisostearyl malate, silica, aluminum starch octenylsuccinate, synthetic fluorphlogopite, polybutene, zinc stearate, alumina, tin oxide, hydrogenated polycyclopentadiene, caprylyl glycol, phenoxyethanol, dimethicone, copernicia cerifera cera (copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax), polyethylene, hexylene glycol, tocopherol, lecithin, ascorbyl palmitate, glyceryl stearate, glyceryl oleate, citric acid. +/− (may contain / peut contenir): ci 77891 (titanium dioxide), ci 77491 - ci 77492 - ci 77499 (iron oxides), ci 77510 (ferric ferrocyanide), ci 77007 (ultramarines).

Mea Culpa

Mea Culpa is a medium-dark brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had rich pigmentation with a soft, velvety texture that wasn’t too firmly nor too softly pressed in the pan. The eyeshadow applied evenly and blended out nicely along the edges on my lid. It stayed on well for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

I Promise

I Promise is a soft, peachy beige with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The pigmentation was semi-opaque and buildable to full coverage with a second layer. The texture was soft, blendable, and lightly powdery without being prone to fallout or sheering out on my skin. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me before I noticed slight fading.

Hypersensual

Hypersensual is a soft, golden peach with warm undertones and flecks of pink and gold sparkle. It had sheer coverage, which was hard to build up; even when applied with fingertips or a wet brush, it had medium coverage at best. The brand’s promotional swatches show it as an opaque product, though. The texture was creamier, very dimethicone-heavy by feel, which helped the sparkles adhere to my lid and kept it from entering Fallout City. This shade lasted nicely for seven and a half hours on me.

calcium aluminum borosilicate, octyldodecyl stearoyl stearate, silica, diisostearyl malate, aluminum starch octenylsuccinate, synthetic fluorphlogopite, polybutene, zinc stearate, hydrogenated polycyclopentadiene, tin oxide, caprylyl glycol, phenoxyethanol, dimethicone, copernicia cerifera cera (copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax), polyethylene, hexylene glycol, tocopherol, lecithin, ascorbyl palmitate, glyceryl stearate, glyceryl oleate, citric acid. +/− (may contain / peut contenir): ci 77891 (titanium dioxide), ci 77491 - ci 77492 - ci 77499 (iron oxides).

Ghibli

Ghibli is a soft brown with strong, warm yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had rich pigmentation in a single layer, which applied well to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of product that blended out beautifully along the edges. The eyeshadow had a smooth, velvety feel with a touch of powderiness in the pan but no fallout during application. It stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Creation Crown

Creation Crown is a bright, light golden copper with strong, warm undertones and a metallic finish. The consistency was soft, more loosely-pressed in the pan, and there was slight kick up in the pan when I worked with it. I’d recommend tapping off excess and then pressing and patting the product onto the lid to avoid fallout during application. It had opaque pigmentation that wore well for eight hours on me before showing signs of wear.

Nablack

Nablack is a deep black with neutral-to-cool undertones. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that was buildable to full coverage with less than half of a layer on top. The consistency was smooth to the touch, velvety and had a bit of a glide to it, though it was still a powder product by feel and performance. It blended out fairly easily, though it could have been more blendable. This shade lasted well for eight hours on me before I noticed slight fading.

Ingredients

dimethicone, triethoxycaprylylsilane, synthetic fluorphlogopite, octyldodecyl stearoyl stearate, caprylyl glycol, diisostearyl malate, phenoxyethanol, hydrogenated polycyclopentadiene, c10-18 triglycerides, caprylic/capric triglyceride, hexylene glycol, polyethylene, copernicia cerifera cera (copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax), tocopherol. +/− (may contain / peut contenir): ci 77891 (titanium dioxide), ci 77491 - ci 77492 - ci 77499 (iron oxides).

I have this palette although I haven’t yet used it . It seems to have performed similarly to their other palettes, which I like very much (otherwise I wouldn’t have purchased this one). I have to add that Nabla has some of the best customer service and shipping I have ever dealt with. I get orders from them (based in Italy) delivered to me in NYC faster than most US based companies!

We try to approve comments within 24 hours (and reply to them within 72 hours) but can sometimes get behind and appreciate your patience! 🙂 If you have general feedback, product review requests, off-topic questions, or need technical support, please contact us directly. Thank you for your patience!
