Milani Beloved Amore Matte Lip Creme
Milani Beloved Amore Matte Lip Creme

Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme ($8.99 for 0.21 fl. oz.) is a new, limited edition liquid lipstick that dries to a matte finish. You’ll mostly find them at your local drugstore (I got mine from Walgreens), but they are available online as well through Milani directly. These have a very thin, liquid-y consistency–they easily get outside the lines and in general, the applicator can apply far more than you need, so I highly recommend a little patience and maybe using a lip brush (if you can) to apply and get really precise, neat lines. The formula has a longer dry down–about five to ten minutes before you can press your lips together–and gets very tacky after two minutes or so (do NOT! press your lips together or else you will lift color in large patches!). They’re one of the lesser drying liquid lipsticks I’ve come across (but these did get a bit drying after four to six hours of continuous wear), and they are long-wearing and pigmented. They have a moderately strong sweet, vanilla scent.

Milani Beloved Amore Matte Lip Creme ($8.99 for 0.21 fl. oz.) is described as a “brown rose.” It’s a muted, medium-dark plummy brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had rich, opaque color payoff with a thin, highly spreadable consistency, which gave really smooth and even coverage, but it does make it a little harder to apply if you don’t wipe the applicator a bit prior to application (think of it like mascara). It wore well for eight hours and was a touch drying after six hours of wear. MAC Bad Girl RiRi (LE, $20.00) is glossier (90% similar). Colour Pop Bumble (P, $6.50) is cooler (90% similar). NARS Mayflower (DC, $28.00) is less pigmented, glossier (90% similar). NARS Bansar (P, $25.00) is lighter, warmer, glossier (85% similar). Colour Pop Mosh Pit (LE, $6.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). Too Faced Pumpkin Spice (LE, $21.00) is darker (90% similar). Maybelline Nude Nuance (P, $7.99) is darker, more muted, glossier (90% similar). Kat Von D Double Dare (P, $20.00) is cooler (90% similar). Tarte Beach Bum (P, $22.00) is darker, cooler, glossier (85% similar). Tarte TBT (P, $20.00) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). Tarte Front Row (P, $20.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). Urban Decay Liar (P, $18.00) is lighter, glossier (80% similar). Tarte Delish (P, $20.00) is cooler (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Milani Crush Amore Matte Lip Creme ($8.99 for 0.21 fl. oz.) is described as a “warm brick brown.” It’s a dark red-toned brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that looked smooth once it dried down, but it was somewhat uneven–there were places that appeared darker than others, even though I didn’t see so much actual streaking. The color lasted for eight hours before having noticeable fading, and it felt a little drying after the six-hour mark. Kat Von D Plath (LE, $20.00) is cooler (95% similar). Colour Pop And Chill (P, $6.50) is darker, cooler (85% similar). Kat Von D Vampira (P, $20.00) is darker (80% similar). Colour Pop Kae (LE, $6.50) is darker, warmer (80% similar). Colour Pop Lax (P, $6.50) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Colour Pop Limbo (P, $6.50) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Colour Pop Rooch (LE, $6.50) is darker, cooler (80% similar). i picked up crush , desire & romance this past weekend & only played around with them for a bit .

my first impressions are they’re really nice . i really like the thin formula & how comfy they feel on the lips . super lightweight & they don’t emphasize your lip lines as much as colourpop .

love the scent as well.

Milani has them online. You can also try looking online at walgreens and cvs. It’s very hard to find in-store. I went to several stores, and the display only had spaces for 2 of each color, and every time the display was re-stocked, people grab multiple lippies.

Both colors look stunning on you! And the $9 price tag is awesome. You can sometimes BOGO 50% off too. And these don’t give lips that dried up/shriveled look, like Colour Pop can

Amore is gorgeous! I like the idea that these are less drying, which is usually the problem I have with liquid mattes. These sound too finicky for me, though. I would probably never use them if I bought them for that reason. Good to know!

If you’re an experienced liquid lipstick user, I think you could get the hang of these in a couple of applications 🙂

I really like them both. The long dry down wouldn’t really bother me. Did you eat with them? Do you think they would reapply smoothly if you needed to touch up?

Anything that lasts 8 hours means I had to eat with them (I don’t skip meals for testing – I used to, but it’s not something I’m willing to do any more!). These would be fine for reapplying, I think!

If CocktailCosmetics or another UK supplier gets these, Beloved will be mine! A cheaper dupe of Double Dare sounds great to try even if it does sound a little tricky to apply.

I think once you work with it, you’ll figure out a good way to apply so it isn’t so challenging – but it’s that first time that is like, “Hmmm! Can’t use that technique!”

Totally agree with you about the application – you need to scrape off the doe-foot or use a lipbrush. It is very liquidy. But it lasts really well. I bought Beloved yesterday and am wearing it today. Has lasted all morning through coffee and breakfast. Strange though – on my lips it looks so much darker. I am also much fairer, say a NW15-20. Still really like the color – but just a heads up that if you are fairer it may show up darker. I used a thin coat as well – too much and I think it would show up even darker and have a tendency to look really unnatural.

Melissa C, my experience is pretty much the same as yours! I bought Beloved (and several others) and I also am fairly fair skinned and Beloved was much more brown and darker than I anticipated. I think I may have applied too thick a coat– perhaps a thinner coat and it would look more like the picture Christine has (which is what I was hoping for). Other than that, I really like these Milani liquid lipsticks, but definitely agree you need to wipe off the wand before applying to your lips!

I’ve googled Beloved, and it seems to look different in every swatch –some swatches look rosier, others more brown, others more orange. Maybe it depends on the skintone or underlying lip color. It’s either that or different batches come in different colors!

These have been working for me! I badly want to pick up Beloved next but it’s sold out at my CVS 🙁 Time to hunt it down at Walgreens! I like the formula a lot more than the Stila or Nyx ones I have. Does anyone know what other brands have formulas similar to this one?

Have you tried looking online? Every major drugstore has a site, and Milani has their own. Also, a lot of DS brands can be found on Amazon or eBay for a fair price!

Thanks, yeah I’m just a stickler for shipping costs, and the new building I live in tends to throw my orders at my doorstep for any of my neighbors to pick up, so I tend to avoid it when I can! 🙂

I picked up two of these last month and found them very difficult to use and they ended up all over my face, because of how thin they were, so I returned them.

Has anyone been able to find beloved in nyc ?! I’ve been going crazy looking for them at every pharmacy! Christine you look so great in it ! I hope I can find it somewhere

I’ve heard good things about these, but they’ve bee impossible for me to find in stores. I also think it’s so stupid Milani made them LE. I really love both of these colors.

I want Beloved so bad (and I’m not even much of a lipstick person), and I can’t find it anywhere. It’s always sold out online! So bummed. Thanks for the review, Christine. I’m glad it got a good rating!

Might have to try this one since I’m so in love with all its dupes. Also, I haven’t bought a single liquid lipstick since the craze started…and this one is cheap.

Hmm…I’ve been having such good luck with the matte Color Statement lipsticks, I’ve been wondering about these. I love Milani, but I don’t know if these would be worth the extra bother when the regular matte lipsticks work out so well for me.. On the other hand, if there’s a color in this line that doesn’t have a good dupe in their matte Color Statements, it’d be worth a shot.

I had a good batch of CVS coupons last week and picked up another two of the matte Color Statements. I’m up to six of them.

Do the matte Color Statements have that flat, matte finish? I find that it’s hard to replicate LIQUID MATTE vs. regular matte. I think MAC’s Retro Matte comes closest, but only the really old school shades.

I picked up these exact two colors a few days ago at CVS. The application is a little tricky and you have to use a light hand but the payoff is lovely. Goes on smoothly and dries to a matte finish quickly. Lasted for hours. I’m definitely going to p/u some more colors. Hope you’ll review some more colors Christine!

I love the way these look! Too bad they’re in none of the drugstores in my area…they are slow to stock new items! I may have to suck it up and order online if they’ve restocked…didn’t realize they were limited edition!

These are $2.99 at my local CVS (Texas). I picked up Beloved today, and if I like the formula, I’ll go pick up a couple more. My problem with the Kat Von D is that they don’t adhere well to the inner, smooth part of my lips, which is a serious problem with the darker shades. I returned those. I can’t stand that light colored ring that forms closer to my teeth! It’s a shame, because otherwise, I love the intense color and extreme matte finish.

Oh beloved is gorgeous. I’m so glad milani announced on their instagram the formula is now permanent. Hopefully, they didn’t change the colors though I hear they improved the darker colors

Where can ai locate finding the new milani matte lip creams? Or are they only online milanis website? Id like to see the colors before purchasing if possible if anyone can help me find them thatd be great thank you!
