Makeup by Mario Eyeshadow Palette & Highlighter Swatches
There are three Makeup by Mario Eyeshadow Palettes ($48.00 each) with two that are 12-pans and one that is a five-pan. There are three shades of Master Crystal Reflector ($24.00 each) and one shade of Master Secret Glow ($22.00), which is a glossy, clear highlighter. Here are swatches…
I was completely uninterested in these palettes based on the photos on Sephora. But your pictures and swatches make it look so much more appealing! Now I’m reconsidering making a purchase, especially since the brand is cruelty-free.
So so excited to see what you think! I have been eyeing that Quartz highlighter shade for a while now. That bronzite shade is super fragile- it was broken for several other reviewers that I watched.
The Master Secret Glow is kinda funny to me. It looks like you are buying an empty pan for $22, which I think is way over priced to put some clear balm on your face ( I guess that’s why Mario called it “Expensive”). I hope the pan method won’t cause it to dry out or harden quickly. I feel like this could have been put in a small squeeze tube type of packaging, something that would still follow the whole aesthetic of his line. Glass skin is on trend, and this kind of product reads more “unisex” than anything else, so it will probably sell well, but I don’t know, I feel the price point should be somewhere around $10-$15. I really wanted to get this for my brows, but I may wait and see how it performs.
I’m also amused by the apparently empty pan, ha ha.
I am not seeing anything I need or anything particularly unique in therms of colour story. The metals look intense and cream like.
The Master Metallics look really lovely! Especially if one doesn’t already have many metallic eyeshadows. I do, but even I’m lacking a few of the more interesting shades above. The Mattes look smooth and as if they are very buildable. A quality I love for my aging lids, as very richly pigmented mattes can stick in a very unappealing way to my less than taut skin. As for the rest? I’m just not feeling it. Especially after watching YT video application of the other items and finding out that the mixing medium he’s selling is EXACTLY the same as Mehron’s, which is far less per amount!
I prefer using eyeshadows dry skin so the metallics one no longer appears to me. I think if you like using shadows dry, it’s a great option.
Nothing special here, disappointed.
Yeah, I don’t see anything here that really blows my skirt up… 😐
I mean, it doesn’t look terrible but it’s nothing that excites me at all.
I am really liking the Master Metallics and the Master Metals – there are probably a few too many pinks in the Master Metallics for me, but the Master Metals one is gorgeous.
This line doesn’t excite me and I was expecting to be blown away. Easy pass
The Master reflector seems to be very similar to Danessa Myricks Dew wet balm. Same price but Mario’s is 0.05oz and hers is 0.125oz. Having used her other products I’d rather give my money to her, but his product may be more accessible by being carried by Sephora. Interested to hear if they perform in a similar fashion
These swatches look really nice! I saw the video he posted, and how the mattes are designed to have clean lines and little fall out when you build with them. I hope they live up to the claims.
So happy to see “real life swatches” of these (and all the other new things you’ve been putting up). I hate promo photos so much, they really don’t show anything at all.
I like his packaging, I like almost everything about this initial collection. But the last thing I want is another “reddy brown” matte palette and the shimmery one doesn’t have anything my current collection doesn’t already offer. I love the metallic palette, but not including the mixing medium is…..a bit of a tasteless cash grab.
I actually like the 12-pan Master Metallics, but wouldn’t you know it, it comes out right when I’m decluttering all glitters and most shimmers because they emphasize the crepey skin of my eyelids now that I’m older, even with primer. Not a good look. Pretty shades, though!
