Make Up For Ever Florals (Vol. 3) Artist Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Make Up For Ever Florals (Vol. 3) Artist Palette
Make Up For Ever Florals (Vol. 3) Artist Palette ($44.00 for 0.45 oz.) includes nine shades (all of the shades are also available individually in the permanent range). Two things worth noting: there are several repeats in this palette if you already own several of their past releases, and the amount of product in this is less than the last two volumes and $2 more. Oh, and there are, again, no matte shades. It’s such a shame that they’ve continued to repeat shades when they have 200+ shades in their range to choose from (see this sheet for repeats). If you haven’t picked up a lot of the brand’s palettes or singles previously, it IS a good palette overall — pigmented, long-wearing, and easy to use.
ME230 Peacock Blue is a muted, medium-dark blue with “warmer” tones and a frosted sheen. It is still a cool-toned shade, of course! It had good pigmentation, but it was as opaque as my permanent version (or other variations I’ve come across in their palettes), unfortunately. The texture was a little firmer, though still dense and blendable, and ultimately, when applied, it builds up easily and within two layers so the lack of pigmentation wasn’t noticeable. It lasted for eight and a half hours. Too Faced Mystic Hour (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). LORAC Peacock (LE, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). Stila Sapphire (PiP, ) is lighter (95% similar). Urban Decay Plunge (LE, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). Too Faced Mint Chip (LE, $16.00) is darker (95% similar). Makeup by Mario Party Glam #1 (LE, ) is more shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Make Up For Ever ME230 Peacock Blue (DC, $17.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Pre-Packaged (LE, $17.00) is darker (90% similar). theBalm Open to Offers Olwen (LE, $16.00) is lighter (90% similar). ColourPop On One (LE, $4.50) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Sugarpill Magpie (P, $13.00) is more shimmery, darker, more muted (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

S404 Straw Yellow is a slightly muted, light-medium yellow with warm undertones and a satiny sheen. It had good pigmentation, though not fully opaque, with a smooth, firm texture. It was blendable, but it took a little more pressure to really get it to diffuse and spread over the lid evenly. It is definitely one of the weaker shades in the brand’s range. I love the look! It’s so spring like, and I’m ready for warmer weather
Thank you, Monica!
This looks rrrrrreally nice, love all the colors! So fun and intense!
The color combo is fun!
OMG!! You totally rock that rainbow eye look Christine!! I love love love it!! <3 xxx
Thank you, Caitlin!
Pretty eye look! I haven’t bought this yet. I have about half the colors. It’s still a good deal for the ones I don’t have, but I’m not in a big hurry to get it.
I wonder if this one will go on sale eventually! It’s not the most versatile palette, plus with all the repeats, I wouldn’t be surprised if they had leftover stock.
I’m thinking that, too. The brights one is on sale, probably for the same kind of reasons.
I love the eye look you’ve done with the colours. I do wish that there weren’t multiple repeats from the holiday palette, considering that it was released so recently, let alone previous ones. And yes, I would love to have seen some mattes in there. I guess that’s an argument in favour of making your own palette.
One day, we’ll see MUFE put out a matte palette…
They should. A neutral matte palette from them would sell like hotcakes, I imagine. I’d buy bright and dark mattes if the quality is up there with the shimmers and metallics.
I love your eye look!! I had a feeling of deja vu during this review, but your eye look reminded me…that recent MAC palette! Different colors, but thematically similar. I’ve been so tempted to get one of these MUFE palettes, because they are such a great value, but the shimmer overload always holds me back! Very pretty, nonetheless!
Thank you, Julie! 🙂
Oh my god, I am sooo tempted to get this even though I already have the 15 palette from last season. I do love the colors though and wow the eye look you have done takes my breath away (in a good way!).
P.s. I now can’t decide between getting this or the MAC Flamingo Park palette!
MUFE’s a bit easier to use, IMO, just because the textures are less matte, but both are fun to use.
Aw, thank you, Claire 😀
Although these kits are a great value, I haven’t bought any because I haven’t been too excited about the color combos– it seems like there are too many repeats from prior palettes, colors or finishes that I will need another palette to make work, and a few neutrals that I already have too many dupes for. If MUFE would let us create our own custom kit of 9 shadows for $44, I think the demand would bring down their website.
They have repeated quite a bit for a brand with so many shades/just starting to put out palettes.
I love this 3rd palette. It’s been a workhorse for me!
Awesome, Joy!
Love the final look here!
Thanks, Jessica!
It does make a nice palette for someone who has the skill and the lid space to do a multicolored look as you have. I might have the skill (on other people) but I don’t have the lid space!
At least you have the skill 🙂 I am sure you could adapt it to your lid space, though!
If MUFE released an all matte pallet, I would buy it. Being someone who owns two of their pallets already, this is a total pass.
Makes sense!
Yeah… that makes three palettes in a row featuring Peacock Blue and Lagoon Blue. I like that they’re keeping it colorful, but this could have featured Periwinkle, Sky Blue, Baby Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Azure Blue, Meadow Green, Mint Green, Nile Green, Apple Green, Mimosa, so many!!!
Exactly!
I have this and the colors are outside my comfort zone. I have to give it try someday soon. The look you did is amazing.
You need to try it!! 😀
LOVE that eye look!
Thank you, Maggie!
I love that golden pink shade!
It is a pretty one 🙂
These are gorgeous, but I already have nine of them — and the three I don’t have are shades I wouldn’t use very often, so even though I think I804 Golden Pink is a really beautiful color, I really can’t justify this! (The other two shades I don’t already have are S404 Straw Yellow, which would be a really challenging color for me to wear, and ME230 Peacock Blue, which I would use much less often than my cooler blues.) Some of the colors I already have are from previously released palettes… I really hope MUFE stops using the same colors repeatedly in their palettes.
Definitely sounds like a skip, Fran! I wouldn’t be surprised if ME230 returns in other palettes in the future!
Yes, it looks like the kind of color they’re likely to use again. But I like to treat myself to a 3-pan palette from time to time…
This is my irritation with MUFE and these palettes. This one is gorgeous, but I don’t want to keep buying repeat shades! As you said, they have OVER 200 SHADES TO CHOOSE FROM! I love you for making that spreadsheet, though! 🙂
🙂 Still makes you wonder why they are so repetitive!
Already owning 4 of these shades is quite the disincentive for me to get this one. What a shame that yet again, MUFE didn’t do repeats, and also NO matte shades to help this be more of an all-in-one eyeshadow palette.
Although I love what you did with the yellow and peachy shades! I think this spring is “the color comeback” season! Makes me happy ?
Thank you, Nancy! 😀
Two words, I want!
Yay!
such a strange choice to repeat again, but this is really pretty collection of colours.
It is odd!
Oh, wow. I have no MUFE shadows and this palette speaks to me! Definitely going to spoil myself with this one (I say that all the time, but this time I really mean it).
Enjoy it, Sarah 🙂
I hesitated because of the “repeats” issue. It is annoying. But, I considered the three shades I did not own and that those three would cost me about $42 bundled on Sephora.com. So, I decided to go ahead and purchase the palette when it released. I too wish they would stop doing repeats and this would be a lot better with mattes included. Nice review. 🙂
Thanks, Nicole! Happy to hear you’re digging it. Also glad to hear you had some fun during your AZ visit!
Such a beautiful place! My little girl loves it too. We’re so bummed to be home with three days of snow and gray skies! Boo hoo. 🙁
I was really frustrated when I realized that there were repeats in this palette. These palette formats are a really good concept because of the value, but I really don’t feel like owning two or more of the same eyeshadows.
I hear you, Alana! I wish the pans were at least removable, since then you could give away shades you already had at least!
OK they perform well and all, but I already have 5 shades from various MUFE palettes. MUFE has SO many colours, why continually overlap the same few colours in palettes? I just don’t understand.
I don’t get it either!
So true ! I wanna get this but there are 2 repeats from the Nudes Vol 1, so i passed. And yes they need to put at least one matte colour inside, cause usually i have to grab other palettes for my crease or transition. Maybe im gonna get tartelette in bloom instead 😀
No idea why they don’t include mattes!
Loving all the colors esp Yellow and Lavender! and wow, fun eye look here!
Thanks so much, Laarni! 🙂
I just realized I have all the colors individually already! I love the colors together!
Perfect!
Such a wonderful look with those beautiful colors. I don’t believe I would have know where to start to use them.
Thank you, Susan!
Love the peacock eyes! The lavender ,yellow and golden pink shadow combination is unusual and pretty cool.
Thank you, Denise!
That eye look!!!!!! 😮
🙂
If this palette ever becomes available in the UK, I may well get it, as there are several shades I want in it, and nothing I dislike. I’m glad it doesn’t have neutral mattes in it; I feel like this little collection has been curated to live alongside one’s own Naked Basics type palette.
It’s a fun one 🙂
Sigh…. I own all but 2 shades….. I think I’ll have to wait till it comes out on clearance to justify buying it at this price. lol
Awww!
Nice pallette, and the way you used the colors for your look is beautiful!
Thank you, Chris!
I just bought this today even though it has tons of repeats to what I already have, but the value is such that it’s still worth it, and I’m running low on some of the repeats in other pans. I’m more and more convinced that Make Up For Ever’s Artist Shadow formulation is the best formulation for me. I find them incredibly well lasting, incredibly easy to apply and blend, and the shades I have from them tend to keep my interest. I have a good work flow with them as well, especially since I’ve made myself a palette of some of their matte highlight, crease, and transition colours. I will say though that I’m still miffed at the repeats.
I’m glad you’re enjoying the palette, Victoria!
I’m so torn about this palette! There are only four shades in there that I don’t already own, and I’m only really interested in three of them (I have enough blues to last a lifetime), and buying just those three would be about the same as the palette, but those three aren’t really my top choices (especially since Straw Yellow is an under-performer). On the other hand, the look you made is beautiful and they really do seem to work nicely together. The lilac and the peachy-pink shade are just gorgeous.
ARG!!!
Maybe wait to see if it goes on sale? I mean… Vol. 2 eventually did!
WOW Christine beautiful. Nice to see another colorful look on you! Gorgeous. Your look alone will sell a bunch of these (and probably one to me)
Thank you, Kim!
CAUTION: Lagoon Blue stains eyelids so don’t forget to apply a primer first!
