I generally like it…I’m not particularly in a love/hate camp for it. However, I will take a moment to rave about my favorite product to REMOVE it: Clinique Take Off The Day BALM. This stuff is the poo. I usually use a couple pads soaked in Bioderma to soften/remove a little heavy eye makeup or lipstick, but you don’t have to. Use a nickel-sized or so amount, literally massage into face, rinse (turns into milky solution), and your face is so clean with no glitter in sight. It’s Clinique, so no harsh stuff or fragrance makes it awesome for sensitive skin. Given how it dissolves and rinses away so easily and completely with water, I would say all skin-types could use it. I love this stuff so much.

Rave: I concur w sparkly and pretty. Rant: THE MESS. Total deal breaker for me; I just don’t have the patience for it. And speaking of glitter…can I use thIs post as an excuse to bring up how AMAZING Lady Gaga’s red glitter eye look was last night???? I confess, I don’t think that I have ever seen a red eye look that I personally liked, outside of an obvious Halloween look, but she totally rocked it!!

yes, I agree….that was an amazing look that possibly only Lady GaGa could pull off.

No sparkles for me. My eyelids are past their expiration date for the glitter look!

Rave – I love glitter in shadows and glosses! My favorite sparkly shadow is Chanel New Moon. I’ll pop it on top of neutral shadows and wear it to work, but keep my cheeks and lips more muted, so it doesn’t look OTT. My fave sparkly gloss is Cover Girl Lip Lava in Lavender (glittery purple), it’s really tacky, but I dilute it with SPF lip balm, and I’m fine
Rant – too much fallout

Rave: It took me a looooonnnnnggg time to find the exact glitter eyeshadow I wanted but once I found it, I have the dirty disco eyes of my dreams.

Micro-glitter or fine glitter one usually sees in eyeshadow is quite doable and not too awful if a few flecks fallout into my eye. It’s tolerable, and pretty enough to deal with. BUT regular glitter? Real glitter? No way, NOPE! I’m not putting my eyes through that! I value my sight too much to take that chance.
Nail polish is anything goes territory, however!

It’s somewhat of a relief to me that glitter was trendy and everywhere right when I had the motivation/patience to use it and the age when I could (and did) apply it everywhere and could get away with it! Yay early millenium britney/bey/jlo for glittering our lives.
But it always ends up everywhere in such a short time.
I’ve been tempted to get the Alien Eau Extraordinaire Gold Glitter edition at Sephora which spays gold glitter alongside the fragrance just to satisfy my inner unicorn but so far I haven’t pulled the trigger!

Rant: I really dislike fallout from glitter. Removing it has also been problematic. When I tried the Stila Magnificent Metals Foil eyeshadow, I didn’t experience any problems getting it on my lid… but it took THREE days for me to rid myself of the glitter! And, yes, I washed my face several times and showered. I don’t know where it was hiding out! LOL

Rave: The perfect amount of lipgloss containing a finely milled glitter applied in the center of the lower lip can effortlessly create the most beautiful, pouty look. I also use it over my nail polish if the finish gets a bit dinged up or the polish doesn’t go on smoothly.

Rave: It was fun for me to use during my cheerleading days. Rant: It reminds me a bit too much of my cheerleading days.

HAHA ok joke aside I have seen some beautiful looks with it. But it’s messy as all get out (it truly is the herpes of both the crafting AND cosmetics world) and it can so very easily be overdone. Nothing ages me more than a heavy hand and some glitter.
