LORAC PRO Metal (Rose Gold) Palette
LORAC PRO Metal (Rose Gold) Palette ($28.00 for 0.144 oz.) contains eight eyeshadows, seven of which are rather shimmery, of a palette that was released previously, but now it’s in rose gold packaging (it was limited edition the first time around anyway!). I really enjoyed the palette when it was released before (see my original review), and I’m just as pleased with it this time around (I might argue that I like it more now given how disappointing some of the holiday palettes have been this year)! I also like that it’s a compact palette, so it’s travel-friendly, has enough product that you’ll get plenty of uses out of it, but it has a palatable (ha, ha) price tag. The only “downside” is that it is dupable, but I’ll take high quality and dupable over terrible and unique!
Quartz is a very lite white gold with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had good pigmentation with a soft, smooth, and blendable consistency that applied well to bare skin and wore for eight and a half hours. Persona Sassy (PiP, ) is more muted (95% similar). Rose Gold is a medium-dark, rosy bronze with warm undertones and a metallic finish. The texture was soft, buttery, and dense without being too firm in the pan, so it was easy to work with on the lid and blended out beautifully. The pigmentation was fully opaque, and it felt like a little went a long way. This shade lasted well for nine hours on me. ColourPop OG (LE, $7.00) is more shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Graphite is a medium-dark, olive bronze with warm undertones and golden khaki shimmer. It was fully opaque with a soft, smooth consistency that was just a touch loose in the pan, but it didn’t present any issues with respect to application. Onyx is a medium-dark black with neutral-to-cool undertones and a touch of sparkle. It performed mostly as a matte black, as a lot of the sparkle got lost during application. The texture was thinner and on the dustier side, so the coverage was semi-opaque but buildable. This shade wore well for eight hours on me. This is a nice one if you like your shimmers! I find LORAC mattes are less solid (they can go either way, sometimes they are just too soft) but have much better luck with their shimmers!
Now I’m wishing I’d passed on it last year just for the rose gold packaging! Lol
I really like this as a companion palette, though. I used it a lot around the holidays because it has a nice mix of wearable shimmery shades. I do have to have a couple of mattes in the mix, but that’s just me. 🙂

Dupable? Yes, but these are my kind of shades, and it is nice to see them all in one palette without any duds. I passed on this the first time it was released, but the rose gold packaging has made me take a second look. I may just have to add this to my list. Am I understanding that this palette is permanent now, or is it still limited edition?

Considering that any and all dupes that I own for most of the shades shown are contained within much larger palettes, this is a definate “maybe”. Looks good for versatility, too. One could do an olive & rose-gold combo or go very dark with a navy/ black/white-gold thematic. I do wish it had a matte warm brown included, though.

This one is really solid. For the price, it’ll make a good gift. Not extravagant, covers all the bases, colorful, tasteful. Liked it before and now. And you’re right, of course…with expected and unexpected duds in this season’s palettes, this looks pretty marvelous. I’m sufficiently duped, but great gift.

I LOVE this palette and found it really hard to get the last time, so I am thrilled that Lorac is bringing it out again and giving it more love. I would use every single one of these shades, except for the black. This may make your best list for the end of the year as the colours are all of consistent quality. I have a few dupes for some of them, but I would have to take out 4 palettes to work it out.

I’m thinking I might have to get this and give in to Lorac shadows once and for all. I don’t know why I’ve been resisting this long anyway…
It might be a good way to try them, since it isn’t as pricey as the larger palettes!
I hope I can get to the US and to Ulta to buy this (sadly, no more Lorac at Sephora in Canada….waaaah). If I miss out, the sad state of affairs is that I have several dupes for each of the shadows I like best.

This palette is absolutely amazing. I own the original and I love every color and there is not a single dud in the group. The only color I can’t wear is cobalt due to my skin tone but I have fun using it on friends when I do their makeup. I will say that if you travel with this palette make sure it is secure because the shadows are soft and an impact can cause them to break.

Have swatched this every time I have gone into Kohl’s for the past month and finally bought it last night with Kohls cash and Yes2You rewards for 8 bucks! Love it. Really wish it was on the 2016 Holiday Gift Guide. The price tag is a lot lower than many of palettes out there while still being high quality so it would make a great gift!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Lorac and own a few of their pallets….I am wanting to get my 14yr old a eye shadow pallet as one of her gifts. She loves rose golds , so it was between this and naked 3. Which would you say is more appropriate for a young girl starting out?
Naked3 is going to be more “appropriate” in the traditional sense of the word, but the PRO Metal would give her more to play with.
