Kat Von D Lolita Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “chestnut rose.” It’s a muted, medium-dark rosy plum with very subtle, warmer undertones and an ultra matte finish. It had opaque color coverage that went on evenly and smoothly, and it didn’t “crack” when I smiled. The formula was smooth, not too thin or too thick, and spread well across the lips. It was flexible enough to feel comfortable over the seven hours it lasted, though it was slightly drying after five hours of wear. Make Up For Ever Praline (109) (P, $20.00) is lighter, warmer (95% similar). ColourPop Stingraye (LE, $6.50) is darker (90% similar). So… What’s now known as Lolita II is the original Lolita shade? That’s so confusing!

I bought these together as a mini holiday set last year, I’m so glad I did! Lolita (the current formulation) is a little dark and grey/brown but still pretty and will be great for fall. I looove Lolita II. It’s about as “red” as I feel comfortable in (lol) but I find it very flattering and not OTT at all.

Lolita is such a classic shade, so flattering, love it! And Lolita 2 is lovely too. I have enough dupes for both, but glad the liquid version scored well

It’s not out as a duo again, right? Get more use out of these than expected. BTW, was unable to find the rosy contouring eyeshadow palette on the yslus site. Odd.

Very pretty on. I have some from a couple years ago so I have no idea which formulation I have. I think it’s dark. I like her liquid lipsticks. But for sure, to me, the most comfortable of the liquid lipsticks is Dose of Colors. I don’t care for the range of colors though like hers.

I AM SO GLAD YOU REVISITED THESE
Thanks!

Apparently, KVD has released Lolita a few times as different batches and there are color variations. Some are more widely available than other and I was always suspect of your swatch. Not because it was done poorly, but I was under the impression it was not the current shade for sale anymore. Or something. It looks like you kinda cleared it up in another comment.

Also Lolita 2 looks great on you. It’s so orange on me, it’s crazy. I don’t know how to mitigate it!

Hi Zoe,

I mentioned it right under “Lolita II” 🙂 “I wanted to bring it to readers’ attention that the shade I bought as Lolita was actually what is now-known as “Lolita II.”

I’m so sorry that I wasn’t able to buy the right shade in the first place! My fault entirely!

Zoe Avatar

Christine you are such a doll, don’t blame yourself. There is so much makeup you gotta keep track of, it’s nuts.
Thanks again for focusing on these two colors.

So glad that you swatched these Christine. I had purchased the Lolita II as a gift for my daughter who has a much darker complexion than I and it looked really lovely on her but really terrible on me with my super pale skin. It just looked straight up orange and garish. A few weeks ago I saw what I now know is Lolita I and tried a swatch, not paying attention to the name and loved how it looked on me and purchased it. When I got home and noticed that it was Lolita I was confused. Now I understand what happened. Sometimes I can handle the formula and sometimes it feels too dry. If it bothers me I put a very tiny amount of gloss and then I can wear them without difficulty.

Hi I just wanted to clarify since I will be going into Sephora soon to pick up one of these! If I want to buy the shade that you’ve listed as “Lolita” in this review, what’s the name of the product I need to go find in store? Would it be “Lolita II”?

PS both shades look lovely on you!
