Kat Von D Lolita & Lolita II Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Kat Von D Lolita Everlasting Liquid Lipstick
Kat Von D Lolita Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “chestnut rose.” It’s a muted, medium-dark rosy plum with very subtle, warmer undertones and an ultra matte finish. It had opaque color coverage that went on evenly and smoothly, and it didn’t “crack” when I smiled. The formula was smooth, not too thin or too thick, and spread well across the lips. It was flexible enough to feel comfortable over the seven hours it lasted, though it was slightly drying after five hours of wear. So… What’s now known as Lolita II is the original Lolita shade? That’s so confusing!
I bought these together as a mini holiday set last year, I’m so glad I did! Lolita (the current formulation) is a little dark and grey/brown but still pretty and will be great for fall. I looove Lolita II. It’s about as “red” as I feel comfortable in (lol) but I find it very flattering and not OTT at all.
Hi Julia,
What happened is that the brand’s later batches of Lolita were markedly different. Unfortunately, being slow to try it, I did not purchase Lolita until later on, so the batch I had was the different batch!
Lolita is such a classic shade, so flattering, love it! And Lolita 2 is lovely too. I have enough dupes for both, but glad the liquid version scored well
Glad you like both!
Lolita II I love the shade but it ready VERY terracotta orange against my fair skin tone. Lolita looks like deep dusty rose on me. 😉
Yes, they are definitely different! I can see why people were confused when the batch went awry.
Especially when you buy a replacement and the shade is completely different. lol
Both are so pretty! I think Lolita II is the best shade for me.
Awesome! 🙂
Both are nice though Lolita would be better for me. I’d go with the Bite dupe though for the finish. Nude/MLBB shades look better on me when they have a hint of shine or moistness to them.
Makes sense! 🙂
Glad these scored well. The “chestnut rose” shade is pretty, and so is the silver flower design.
They’re nice! 🙂
Thank goodness I have dupes of these, as liquid lipstick that dries down to that level drives me cray-cray! I do LOVE how both look on you, though. They don’t appear as dry as past Lolita’s, or am I seeing things?
I am glad you have dupes 🙂
Lolita never looked dry to me – very matte but not dry!
Both shades are very pretty, though I like Lolita a little better than Lolita II. I always thought it was weird they had changed the color so much. I give the brand props for listening to customers and bringing back the original.
I’m glad they made both permanent!
The two colors look lovely on you, need to get Lolita for myself!
Thank you, Fashn!
It’s not out as a duo again, right? Get more use out of these than expected. BTW, was unable to find the rosy contouring eyeshadow palette on the yslus site. Odd.
It’s not! It’s just taken me this long to swatch it since the duo released (bad blogger).
Lollita is absolutely beautiful on you! (Esp. with the other makeup.) Might check out the YSL palette you used. I don’t recall a review…did you do one? (If so I’ll hunt it down.)
Thanks, Michele! Sorry, no review yet – literally just got it two days ago and haven’t even had a chance to test it yet. I’m so sorry!
Very pretty on. I have some from a couple years ago so I have no idea which formulation I have. I think it’s dark. I like her liquid lipsticks. But for sure, to me, the most comfortable of the liquid lipsticks is Dose of Colors. I don’t care for the range of colors though like hers.
Probably the original, I think! If it leans cooler, it would be the original.
This make up (as a whole) looked awesome on you, you looked very pretty!
Thank you!
I AM SO GLAD YOU REVISITED THESE
Thanks!
Apparently, KVD has released Lolita a few times as different batches and there are color variations. Some are more widely available than other and I was always suspect of your swatch. Not because it was done poorly, but I was under the impression it was not the current shade for sale anymore. Or something. It looks like you kinda cleared it up in another comment.
Also Lolita 2 looks great on you. It’s so orange on me, it’s crazy. I don’t know how to mitigate it!
Hi Zoe,
I mentioned it right under “Lolita II” 🙂 “I wanted to bring it to readers’ attention that the shade I bought as Lolita was actually what is now-known as “Lolita II.”
I’m so sorry that I wasn’t able to buy the right shade in the first place! My fault entirely!
Christine you are such a doll, don’t blame yourself. There is so much makeup you gotta keep track of, it’s nuts.
Thanks again for focusing on these two colors.
So glad that you swatched these Christine. I had purchased the Lolita II as a gift for my daughter who has a much darker complexion than I and it looked really lovely on her but really terrible on me with my super pale skin. It just looked straight up orange and garish. A few weeks ago I saw what I now know is Lolita I and tried a swatch, not paying attention to the name and loved how it looked on me and purchased it. When I got home and noticed that it was Lolita I was confused. Now I understand what happened. Sometimes I can handle the formula and sometimes it feels too dry. If it bothers me I put a very tiny amount of gloss and then I can wear them without difficulty.
What gloss do you put on top of the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks?
Both are gorgeous shades.
Glad you liked ’em, Astrild!
Lolita 1 is one of favorite shades. It was a go-to last fall.
Nice!
I got this set and love it 🙂 I have gotten lots of compliments on Lolita 1 especially, and am happy that my lipstick don’t smear everywhere after eating and drinking.
It is nice that it wears through a meal!
Lolita is a great color with an absolutely awful name.
Totally understand!
I have the cooler Lolita, and it’s an amazing color that seems like it would flatter almost anyone. I like the look of Lolita II, but it doesn’t seem like a color I’d wear very often.
I can definitely see the original being more easily worn!
Hi I just wanted to clarify since I will be going into Sephora soon to pick up one of these! If I want to buy the shade that you’ve listed as “Lolita” in this review, what’s the name of the product I need to go find in store? Would it be “Lolita II”?
PS both shades look lovely on you!
Lolita is Lolita. Lolita II is Lolita II.
Christine, you look lovely!
What lip liner did you use with the Lolita 2?
Thank you 🙂
When I am reviewing and showing you a swatch of the product, it is only that product! Using lip liner would be cheating, lol!
