Kat Von D Bruno & Thumbelina Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Bruno
Kat Von D Bruno Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 oz.) is a vibrant, deep cobalt blue with cool undertones and a fine, metallic shimmer strewn throughout the lipstick. It had opaque color coverage in one layer. The consistency was smooth, thin without being watery, and it dried down quickly but gave me enough time to maneuver along the edges and go back to spread out the product in places. It dried down comfortably and did not feel clingy nor did it emphasize the texture of my lips. On me, the color stayed on well for nine hours and was slightly drying after six hours of wear.

Formula Overview

It is supposed to be a “long-wear, full coverage liquid lipstick with a smooth, matte finish.” Of the liquid lipsticks on the market that go and have a full dry-down, Kat Von D’s formula remains my favorite, as it is the easiest to apply with the kindest learning curve and lasts awhile.
Some shades are more drying than others, but typically they don’t get drying until after five to six hours of wear. They often wear anywhere from six to ten hours, depending on what you’ve had to eat or drink during the day. This formula is thin but not watery, has a longer dry down than most liquid lipsticks (but I noticed some of the newer shades dried to a mostly dry finish faster), and layers better than most (you can touch-up or add a second layer for more coverage).
It takes about a minute for it to mostly set, but it will remain a little tacky in places for up to three minutes so you’ll want to avoid pressing your lips together if it doesn’t seem totally dry initially. There isn’t a noticeable scent or taste. If you don’t mind the trade-off between very long, near-pristine wear and being drying, it’s worth checking out. As a bonus, these also come with one of the most generous amounts of products within the realm of liquid lipsticks!

Thumbelina
Kat Von D Thumbelina Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 oz.) is a medium-dark red with subtle, warm undertones and a flat, matte finish. I was surprised it wasn’t full coverage in a single layer, as most reds are quite pigmented, but it needed a second layer for full opacity. The texture was lightweight, fluid and thin without being watery, which helped it spread evenly and easily across the lips without spilling past the lip line too readily. The color wore well for over eight hours but started to feel drying after six hours of wear.

I really wanted Bruno but it never got stocked on the Sephora.ca site for some reason.
I saw it was OOS on Sephora US, but then it was still in stock on KVD’s website, so I just figured it sold out on US. I wonder if it never stocked? (I bought mine as the Everlasting Flash kit…)
Gorgeous shades, especially Bruno – so vibrant!
Bruno is such a beauty!
Bruno looks so much like OCC’s technopagan. It’s beautiful
when i first saw swatches of bruno on instagram , i instantly thought of occ’s technopagan .
compared them using your swatch gallery & they look very similar . technopagan does have more of a pink base , which makes it lean more purple , whereas bruno is more blue due to the cooler undertone .
i think i’m gonna purchase it ! i’m not a big fan of kat’s liquid lipstick formula because i find it hard to get an even layer , especially shades like echo & roxy . like when i spread the product across my lips , it sheers out . does that make sense ? haha . it’s kind of hard to describe .
but anyways , your review of bruno has me sold . i’m a sucker for blue/purple lippies & that one looks so stunning .
❤️️
these both look so nice on you! i ordered hilda and thumbelina, and seeing your swatches makes me even more excited to wear thumbelina! i adore farm sanctuary so i had to jump on this 🙂
Bruno is really gorgeous and it’s great that it performed well!
I bought Thumbelina and Julia as soon as they hit Sephora. I love them both. Julia is very bright, and I was impressed with how wearable it still is. Bruno looks amazing, I am just not sure when I would ever get to wear it!
And such a great cause. I appreciate Kat Von D’s efforts to bring more awareness to the plight of factory farm animals.
Is Technopagan by OCC not a good dupe for Bruno?
The texture is really different, even though the colors are similar!
Thumbelina looks like a lovely red!
But; the one I truly love is Bruno! I’m so sad that cobalt, royal and navy blues can look through so thoroughly horrible against my skintone. So far, those shades work as eyeliner or within a pattern in clothing. *Sigh* ?
(Perhaps I could use Bruno as an EYELINER instead????)
Wow – this is gorgeous!!
I really want Bruno.
I can never bring myself to wear super bold lip colors, but Bruno makes me want to start. Holy cow!
