Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle 10/10 Lipstick Vault Review & Swatches
Mattemoiselle 10/10
Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle 10/10 Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick Vault ($149.00 for 0.60 oz.) is a new, limited edition set for the holiday season that is supposed to feature 10 upcoming shades in the Mattemoiselle range, so sometime in the future, these will release individually in the permanent range (I don’t have a date). They were fairly consistent with the range–pigmented, creamy, and longer-wearing with mostly non-drying to lightly hydrating formulas. A full-sized lipstick retails for $18 a pop, so the set has a value of $180, which may be worth it for someone who wears a spectrum of shades and likes satin finishes.

Thicc
Thicc is a soft, medium pink with warmer undertones and a cream finish. The pigmentation was opaque in one stroke, which applied evenly across my lips without dragging or tugging. The lipstick had a lightly creamy, smooth consistency that was comfortable to apply and to wear, as it sat well and did not cling. It stayed on beautifully for five hours and was lightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$18.00/0.06 oz. - $300.00 Per Ounce
It's supposed to have a "petal-soft matte finish" with "mega rich color" that is long-wearing and will not bleed or feather. They are creamy, smooth, and velvety without being heavy. The majority of shades applied evenly across the lips, never skipped, and didn't get into my lip lines. I do not normally experience feathering/bleeding, and I did not experience either with this range.
Most of the shades were very pigmented with true, one-stroke pigmentation, which was particularly impressive for some of the more non-traditional shades in the line-up. They're a soft matte--matte without being flat but not truly glossy or shiny--and have good wear time (four to eight hours, depending on the shade) and were mostly non-drying.
Worth noting is that these are in a slim-style bullet, which means that they don't contain as much as traditional lipsticks do--these contain 0.06 oz. and retail for $18.00, which yields a cost of $300.00/oz. If you're not someone who tends to finish their lipsticks, paying less is often a better "value" than paying more and not using what you paid for.
A few comparisons: NARS Audacious Lipstick ($242.86 oz., $34.00/0.14 oz.), Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($173.33/oz., $26.00/0.15 oz.), Pat McGrath Matte/LuxeTrance Lipstick ($271.43/oz., $38.00/0.14 oz.), Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme ($250.00/oz., $30.00/0.12 oz.). Fenty's slimmer tube seems to contain less than the average slim-style tube, too (typically 0.07 oz. to 0.09 oz. but rarely below 0.07 oz.).

Ballerina Blackout
Ballerina Blackout is a bright, cotton candy pink with cool, blue undertones and a satin finish. It had opaque color coverage in single layer that applied fairly evenly, but it had a tendency to sink into my lip lines and accentuated a bit of texture on my upper lip, so it wasn’t the most flattering finish applied. The consistency felt creamy and smooth without being heavy, and it did not tug or drag when applied. It lasted for four and a half hours and was lightly hydrating over time, but the color sunk into my lip lines further.

I Quit
I Quit is a medium, rosy taupe with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. The pigmentation was opaque in a single stroke, and the color went on evenly and smoothly across my lips. The texture was lightly creamy, dense in the tube but not too thick or heavy on my lips. There was a bit of product that gathered in my lip lines, though it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. This shade wore well for five hours on me and felt slightly hydrating.

Pumpkin Rose
Pumpkin Rose is a bright, light-medium orange with strong, warm yellow undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had good color coverage, but it wasn’t opaque and did not build up to full coverage. The texture was drier and felt clingier compared to most of the Mattemoiselle shades I’ve tried, and I felt like it looked it when applied–the color pulled into my lip lines and looked “crumbly” in areas. The color lasted nicely for four and a half hours on me but was a touch drying.

F'n Black
F’n Black is a deep, inky black with neutral undertones and a satin finish. The consistency was smooth and creamy with a little more creaminess compared to other shades in the range, but once on, it seemed to “set” a bit so it did not feel slippery on my lips while worn. It had opaque color payoff that adhered evenly and stayed on well for five and a half hours on me. The formula felt neither drying nor hydrating over time.

Tiger Tini is a bright, medium-dark orange with strong, warm red undertones and a semi-matte finish.

Turks and Caicos
Turks and Caicos is a deep, bluish-teal with cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had rich color payoff that adhered evenly across my lips, though there was a bit of product that separated along my deeper lip lines. I didn’t think it was noticeable from a normal viewing distance, as I didn’t detect it when worn, just later on looking at the close-up photos. The texture was smooth, velvety, and lightly creamy but had little slip and did require a slightly firmer touch to apply for fluid application. It stayed on well for six and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating over time.

Violet Fury
Violet Fury is a rich purple with cool undertones and a satin finish. The pigmentation was nearly opaque in a single stroke, while the lipstick felt creamy and smooth, which made application a cinch. The color went on fairly evenly without dragging on my lips, but there was enough slip that a touch of product gathered in my deeper lip lines, and it didn’t adhere quite as easily to the inner area of my lips (but most of it did, so it wasn’t glaring). It wore nicely for almost seven hours on me, and the formula felt lightly moisturizing.

Flamingo Acid
Flamingo Acid is a deep, reddened berry with subtle, cool undertones and a satin finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, which applied evenly across my lips without dragging or tugging. The lipstick had a lightweight, lightly creamy consistency that had a touch of slip to make it comfortable to apply and to wear but not slide around or be prone to feathering on me. The color lasted well on me for seven hours and was non-drying.

Well, this certainly is a well-rounded set of colors! But not one that I would get much use from. And the shade that I like the most got the lowest rating!
Oh no!!! I’m interested in a few of these but the one I REALLY want is Pumpkin Rose. I hope they reformulate that one a little before releasing a single!
Did Saw-C not work for you? It’s pretty close in color, IMO!
I’m going to have to grab dupes because there are only a few shades that I want and would see myself wearing regularly. Flamingo Acid is the only one I’m truly dying over, so a duping I will go.
Just don’t wear enough of the shades to get anyone’s large collection. Of course, hope that some are released as singles. esp I Quit. Thinking of opting for PMS and Clapback, instead. As a Fenty aside, I’ve used the snow nights set a lot as transformers, esp with dry bullet formulas, like ABH. Fog Snog is terrific over greiges, if you like them. Frost Sauce works better that way than as a straight lip color. No Chill can give both nice and very offbeat transformations; it’s the least ‘obvious’ one to use in transforming use: what you think is not necessarily what you get.
I can see those working well for layering in particular! Will have to try Fog Snog sometime over something… I did love that color.
My initial picks are still in my sites, especially with how well they performed in their respective wear tests. Dragon Mami looks to be the perfect spring/summer coral. I Quit looks very moody and could potentially be a decent greige for an olive gal. Flamingo Acid is so deep in my vampy berry wheelhouse that I do believe I must get it!
How weird that they pulled off black, teal, and purple perfectly, but the orange wasn’t so good. Overall, I love how these look.
Stranger yet is that Saw-C is VERY similar but better overall. I was confused why they’d even have both shades!
I just looked at the swatches. They are really, really similar. Strange.
That purple!!!!! Also great to see such a close dupe for Show and Teal now that it’s DCed. It’s my partner’s fave and we were bummed out not to have backups.
I initially didn’t think this was a set that I would pick up because I can only pull off two or maybe three of the shades but while showing my daughter she really loved the more out-there artistic colours so might work to get the set and cherry pick the ones I like and put the others in her advent calendar. This was a pretty solid release for RiRi. I wouldn’t be stopped by the lower grade for the pumpkin shade but that has more to do with my not being able to pull it off anyway!!
Not a fan of either matte lipstick or non traditional shades, but this would be a good one to share with someone else who likes these colours.
loving the arrangement of shades! i love bold unconventional colors, but im interested in a few, not all of them and i wish they sold them individually or like the other ones that came in a 3 pack because 100$ for colors i already have or im not going to use? well, ive done it but we’re trying to save the coin in here. love that formula!
