ColourPop Superbloom, All Tea, Sphynx Velvet Blur Lux Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Superbloom
ColourPop Superbloom Velvet Blur Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, coral-red with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. The lipstick had a smooth, velvety consistency–like a silicone primer–that glided easily across my lips in a thin, even layer. It had medium, buildable pigmentation (nearly opaque) that applied evenly and didn’t emphasize my lip lines (but it didn’t smooth them out either). It wore well for five hours, left a faint, reddish stain behind, and was neither drying nor hydrating over time for me.

It's supposed to have a "soft focus, blurring effect" with "buildable" color that can deliver "high impact colour" with a "silky, velvet soft texture" that "smooths over fine lines and imperfections" without "drying out your lips." They have a velvety slip to them, as they're packed with silicone, and so they have that smooth feel as they go over the lips but have a lightweight, almost powder-like finish that makes me think of a "soft matte." From a normal viewing distance, like at a glance in a mirror or another person viewing you while having a face-to-face conversation, as opposed to checking one's lips close-up in the mirror, I saw the "blur" effect--soft, slightly understated color with a matte finish. The lack of opacity in some of them gave them a "softer" appearance to my eye.
That being said, I didn't experience any smoothing, and I haven't personally found that the more silicone-heavy lipstick formulas go that far in smoothing my lip lines; I'd actually feel like they're more likely to emphasize imperfections as the lipstick caught on flakes and settled into lip lines. There were some shades that applied more unevenly and were more prone to settling noticeably in my lip lines than others, and there were a few that applied evenly and were flattering with respect to texture on me as well. As always, I do my best to ensure that I exfoliate my lips regularly and keep my lips hydrated when not testing lip products (at night and the like) to try and have a "good" canvas for lip colors.
The coverage varied from shade to shade with most shades offering medium, buildable coverage, though some of the deeper and more vivid shades were more semi-opaque to nearly opaque in a single layer. The color faded a bit more readily from the center of my lips compared to the outer edges but was fairly even in how they wore down. Only the very deepest/more red-toned shades stained my lips (and only slightly) after wearing them. They seemed mostly non-drying but a few felt a little more drying to me. The formula has a sweet, burnt sugar scent but no discernible taste.

All Tea
ColourPop All Tea Velvet Blur Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark fuchsia pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had buildable pigmentation that ranged from medium to mostly opaque (three layers). The texture felt velvety and smooth, yet there was no wetness to it, so it had a more matte finish with a thinner consistency. There was a smidgen of product in my deeper lip lines but wasn’t visible from a normal viewing distance. It felt lightweight and non-drying over the four and a half hours it lasted.

Sphynx
ColourPop Sphynx Velvet Blur Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had buildable color payoff from medium to nearly opaque (three layers) that went on evenly but was prone to settling into my lip lines enough that it gave the color a more “separated” look. The texture felt smooth, velvety, and seemed to have a touch more slip than other shades as it had a subtle sheen whereas most shades in the range were semi-matte (regardless, it still wore down to matte within an hour of wear). It stayed on well for four hours and was neither drying nor hydrating to me.

Sphynx was kinda the one I wanted so bummer that it got a lower score. Guess I’m going to pass on these! But I did order the It’s My Pleasure palette! So excited about it…
Vibrant shades, perhaps more spring tones than winter. Superbloom is definitely a bright coral shade.
I can’t decide if I like these or not – I LOVE the Lux cremes, but I disliked the matte formula and I wasn’t a fan of the blotted lippie stix either, so I’m fence-sitting for now…
The matte formula was hit or miss – I liked some, not so much a few… blotted I like the look OF but don’t find they are super flattering on my lips in terms of texture (which is the story with these for the most part).
Yes, I really like the blotted look too – but for me it’s quicker and easier to apply a cream colour and then blot off excess than it is to apply two or three layers of product to get the desired coverage and colour intensity for about the same end result. It seems a bit counter intuitive to me!
