ColourPop Lost & Prim Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
ColourPop Lost Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick
ColourPop Lost Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is described as a “warm-toned brown red.” It’s a muted, medium-dark red with warm undertones and a matte finish. This was one of the more matte shades in the range–it dried down rather matte within a few minutes (if you want to speed up drying time, just press your lips together a few times and the sheen lessens). It had rich color payoff with a lightweight, thin texture that applied beautifully and was easy to use for fairly crisp edges (without a lip brush). The color wore well for over eight hours, but it was a little drying after five hours of wear. NARS Golshan (P, $25.00) is brighter (95% similar). NARS Rouge Indiscret (LE, $28.00) is darker (95% similar). ColourPop TGIF (LE, $7.00) is lighter (95% similar). NARS Fire Down Below (DC, $28.00) is warmer (95% similar). MAC Lee Hi (LE, $19.00) is brighter, warmer (90% similar). Make Up For Ever C406 (DC, $22.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). KVD Beauty Nosferatu (P, $20.00) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). MAC Hearts Aflame (LE, $19.00) is glossier (90% similar). NARS VIP Red (DC, $28.00) is warmer (90% similar). NARS Shanghai Express (P, $26.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (90% similar). NARS Majella (P, $25.00) is glossier (95% similar). NARS Mysterious Red (P, $27.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). NARS Codie (LE, $34.00) is cooler, glossier (95% similar). Chanel Experimente (154) (P, $45.00) is cooler (90% similar). Hourglass At Night (P, $34.00) is brighter, warmer, glossier (90% similar). ColourPop Prim Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is described as a “dark blackened red.” It’s a deep, muted burgundy with subtle, warm undertones and a satin sheen. It was intensely pigmented with smooth, even coverage that was easy to work with and didn’t leave streaks behind nor did it pull into lip lines. At this point, I most definitely sound like a broken record, but the majority of color was still going strong after eight hours of wear and still comfortable on. Make Up For Ever C407 (DC, $22.00) is darker, cooler (95% similar). Maybelline Chocoholic (DC, $7.49) is warmer (95% similar). Tarte Frenemy (P, $20.00) is glossier (95% similar). Anastasia Brandy (P, $18.00) is lighter, less glossy (95% similar). ColourPop Lax (DC, $6.50) is less glossy (90% similar). ColourPop Chola (LE, $7.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Chateau (P, $6.00) is warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Disturbed (DC, $18.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Antique Velvet (P, $19.00) is warmer, glossier (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Editrix (250) (P, $30.00) is lighter, warmer, glossier (90% similar). MAC Deep Love (LE, $19.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Giorgio Armani Doge (210) (P, $38.00) is lighter, warmer, glossier (90% similar). Sephora Autumn Wind (54) (P, $14.00) is lighter, warmer, less glossy (90% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Anita (DC, $18.00) is warmer, glossier (90% similar). Pat McGrath McMenamy (LE, $38.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
FORMULA OVERVIEW | ColourPop Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a “lightweight, bold lipstick with a satin finish” that is “extra intense colour saturation” and “long-wearing,” but the brand is quick to note that it is “not completely kiss proof.” The consistency is very light to lightweight with a thin to mousse-like consistency–they feel a little heavier going on than the Ultra Matte formula, but they don’t feel heavy on. They dry down somewhat, but it isn’t a full, flat dry down like matte liquid lipsticks, and when you press your lips together, there is moderate tackiness there, but I didn’t notice any lifting or separating of color by doing so. Thus far, they have been extremely long-wearing and comfortable to wear for the most part–it’s after ten hours or so that I notice my lips feeling a little dry–but six hours into wear and the colors have looked good post-meals/post-drinking. I think if you like the idea of longer-wearing, mostly matte lip color but find most liquid lipsticks too drying or too flat while not needing an ultra-hydrating formula, you might like these.

I want to try this formula but I came to the conclusion that I don’t really want/need any of the colors. A lot of the colors are muted, earthy tones that I associate with fall/winter and we’re headed into summer. But if I did get one, it would be Prim–gorgeous! I’m sure they will come out with more colors soon enough.
I hope we’ll see some fun summer and/or LE colors in this range. It’s sooo much easier to wear than the Ultra Mattes!
Colour Pop is just killing me with temptation! I LOVE brown- red lippies, have a number of the dupes already, but these look so lush and satiny, I can’t even tell they are liquid lipsticks. Must resist!
They did a great job with this line-up!
Yah, and the dupes you have resisted are on the wish list. Already into rationalization mode. Hell of a lot cheaper than Nosferatu, better grade, too. Missed CP Squad, you fool. Lotta dupes, but lotta gimmes, too. You had the gall to get every Audacious brown red; use those. These are totally different, texturally, and you didn’t succumb to Nori. Yet. WGAS about pinks/corals……. Fade thoughts as My Fair Lady tune ‘On the Street Where You Live’ swells in the background. At least these are perm.
Imagine me saying “Oh My God” in my hilarious Rachel Zoe voice. Those are amazing on you. I’m not sure they are right for me but if money grew on trees I’d probably be ordering like 7 or 8 of these new liquid satin lipsticks. As it is, I thing I need to haul a few more UD x Gwen Stefani lipsticks and a few of the Amuse Bouche before I move on to other brands.
Aw, thank you, Erin! 🙂
Very pretty, even if they’re not my colors. This formula looks like it goes on so smoothly!
It really does!
It’s so nice to see a dark red liquid lipstick that isn’t streaky!
It’s SO refreshing!
Oooh, I love ’em both!!! But, I no doubt have dupes….although none with THIS incredible weartime! 8+ hours is certainly impressive and an incentive to buy these anyways.
I’m so impressed by how nice they apply!
They are quite possibly liquid lipstick perfection! Even though I have MAC VG I and Deep Love, I am SO tempted to get these!
I love love love Prim, but both colors are stellar.
It’s so lush!
So glad lost got a good review, since I just ordered it. I thought about prim, it’s lovely but I think too dark for me. I have very thin lips so I try to stay away from the darker colors. But 8 hours and a little drying is really just fine for me!
Yay! I hope you love Lost 🙂
I’m very pleasantly surprised by the Ultra Satins, they appear to be a lot better and more consistent than the Ultra Mattes. I wasn’t impressed initially but your reviews have sold me. Colourpop did good on this one!
I think 90% of them have been quite stellar! And I have heard more consistently positive feedback from readers on the Ultra Satins than the Ultra Mattes for sure!
Very sexy colour and finish
Glad you liked ’em, Taj!
I really want to try these but are they kinda messy and high maitenance? Since they aren’t completely transfer proof, I am just worried about that.
Not messy at all – they only have minimal transfer.
Prim reminds me of mac’s diva lipstick but in liquid form. Do I still want it …. of course. lol Great job Christine!
Thank you! 🙂
I love these!!!
Yayyy!
I just ordered Prim and the color isn’t as described at all.. it’s a very dark purple, almost black. For anyone with light skin tones, I’d recommend ordering a few shades lighter than you’d expect!
Interesting! It’s definitely burgundy to me – not just going off of photos but seeing it person etc.! It sounds more like TooLips to me, which is pretty dark!
I’ll take a picture and show you soon – I’d be very interested to hear your opinion on it! It definitely looks burgundy in the pictures here, but it looks different on me. Maybe because I’m extra pale, or because of my undertones? I’ve had this problem with a few of their ultra mattes as well, and friends have confirmed it looks very different than the swatches on their website, so it must be something about me…
