Haul: some WNW stuff because it’s 40% right now at Rite Aid!
Weekend plans: picking up my sister for her spring break, trying get over my cold, and family stuff on Sunday
What was the last movie you saw?: Deadfall. It wasn’t my favorite movie.

Tammy B Avatar

It has been an Ulta week for me. I picked up UD lipliners inManic and Liar, UD lipstick in Fiend (love), The Gwen Stephanie Brow Box (cute), It cosmetics concealer and Bye Bye Pores face powder, Stila One Step Correcting and Brightening Serum, and a couple Bare Minerals loose eye shadows in Bare Skin (my daughter’s favorite. I have been enjoying the 21 days of beauty; I’ve been going to Ulta during my lunch breaks.

Weekend plans: Vietnamese take out tonight and we’ll rent a movie.

Last movie: Documentary called Cartel Land. I wouldn’t recommend it. My husband and I were unable to figure out what the point was.

Tammy B Avatar

Christine, are you saying we get more points when we order from Ulta online?

Also, I am considering orderin MAC beauty powder in Pearl Sunshine this week. Do you think it would show up on my NC37 skin tone?

Fran Avatar

I don’t like to order online from Ulta, either, Christine — their web site is difficult to use, and the shipping varies. It’s only when I have a 20% off one-time-use coupon and want to stock up on basics, and my local store happens to be out of some of them, that I order online from them. But my local Ulta is one of the friendliest, cleanest, most fun stores to shop in that I know of. If I can get it there instead of at Sephora I will. The only place that competes with them for me is Nordstrom.

Nancy T Avatar

Tammy, do you mean Pearl Blossom? Because I’m NC37-40, and it makes a beautiful highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones! Yes, it shows, but subtle and gleamy instead of as a blush.

Katherine T. Avatar

Awww, Mellan’s missing you! Hope you enjoyed your visit back to CA -what do you miss most?
*Haul -backup of MAC Spring Flock blush. And I tested Kiko Water Eyeshadow in Olive Green – pretty metallic olive with gray undertones, held up well on my oily lids with primer (12 hrs), nice pigment that’s buildable and intensifies when used wet, formula reminds me of MAC Extra Dimension shadows. And love the 2-D swirl design -will try more colors if I can catch a sale/promo
*Weekend – rest, play with makeup
*Last movie – Finding Nemo -the toddler is obsessed with Nemo!

Katherine T. Avatar

Oh, and Sephora Diamond Eyeliner in Canary – absolutely gorgeous color, LOVE the shimmer, adds a nice twinkle to my eye, and it’s not cheap looking glitter. Will pick up more colors at next sale. I don’t know why Sephora doesn’t promote these more

Nicole Avatar

Hey Katherine, I haven’t got to test out the TheBalm palette for you yet! So sorry. I had to go to a training thing for work and just have been crazy busy. I tried two shades for once and wound up using other colors over them. They seemed powdery. I’m not sure if it was the shadow or the primer. I’m having trouble finding a primer that kicks up the intensity. I used to use UD and recently bought Eden and Enigma. I only have used them once so far. I need to research how to use them. But, they made my lids seem a bit dry.
Anyway, I will do my best to get to it this week for you! 🙂

Katherine T. Avatar

Thanks for the update Nicole! No worries, I’m also waaaay behind on testing products and also crazy busy at work too, as we are getting ready to move to another office. For powdery matte shadows, I usually skip the silicone primers like UD and use a slightly tacky, matte cream base to make them stick, so I can pack on more. And I usually use a base that’s close to my skintone, so it doesn’t change the color of the neutral shadows too much. For matte bases, you can try MAC paint pots , Maybelline Color Tattoos, Bare-Minerals 5-in-1 Advanced BB Cream Shadow ( Linen is nice match for me, and I’m light/light med), and Sephora Colorful Shadow & Liner, which is a jumbo shadow crayon -Secret Boudoir (vanilla beige) is closest match for me, but if I want a little color in my base, I use Cafe Au Lait (soft light brown). Anyways, good luck, and let me know how it goes!

Haul: Urban Decay Sheer Liar and Sheer Obsessed. I’m not sure I love them. I have never been a fan of sheer lipstick but I can’t bring myself to return them because I got them for half-price at Ulta. They’re pretty though. Im just not in love. I don’t know… I also bought Perricone MD No Bronzer Bronzer. I wanted to see if it was an alternative to the Armani one because hello$$$. Powder bronzers look terrible on me because of my peach fuzz so I’m hoping this liquid one works out.

Weekend plans: Baby shower for my sister-in-law. Not my first nephew but just as excited as my first 5 lol.

Last movie I saw: Brooklyn. I loved it!

Fran Avatar

I’ve gotten super-long peach fuzz post-menopause. I’ve got really sensitive skin and can’t wax. So I use a cheap beard trimmer to cut it down to size. Works great on my upper lip, too!

I agree with Christine, if you don’t love ’em, return ’em! It took me a while to get there, but it’s better than passing them along six months or a year down the road!

t Avatar

haul: colourpop shadows empire, krinkle, and sugar, satin lip in petit four, and the free gift poppin lippie stix. oh and some concealer from sephora
plans: I’m going to a dance tomorrow but otherwise will mostly be studying
last movie you saw: I saw zootopia last weekend with a friend

Anna Avatar

Haul: I have actually hauled this week for the first time in ages. First I got the Chanel les beiges foundation in B30. That is my normal color but I had to return it because it was too dark. Then I got it in B20 which was too light but oxidized to correct color. Returned that as well though because after 4 hours no foundation was left on the face. The foundation has gotten great reviews but it was not for me. Then I got Nars Michiyo lipstick which is all kinds of yay and a primer in a lavender color which was good.
Weekend plans: Celebrating my birthday.
Last movie: It was Scream 2. Unless you mean in cinema because then it was Star Wars.

Ginny Avatar

Haul: Finally bought the Gwen Stefani blush palette (first impressions are good).

Wet n’ Wild Ticket to Brazil bronzer–I really like it! I wanted Bikini Contest (store didn’t have it) which has a more burnt red undertone, and I thought Ticket to Brazil would be more orange-ish. And it is…. but it works as a blush/bronzer hybrid for me. I find mine not super pigmented, which is perfect for me, and it has a nice luminous finish.

So I got a sample of RCMA foundation in their lightest shade Porcelain…… boy was I wrong…. it is REALLY pale. Might even be just a touch too pale for me (the undertone is definitely too pink). It’s super pigmented. I spread some around the back of my hand (they say to warm it up this way) and was very impressed how far the pigmentation went. I don’t know how long you’re supposed to warm it up for, maybe I didn’t do enough, but it went on really dry and uncomfortable on my face. And despite the pigment it didn’t really cover much. Maybe my skin wasn’t hydrated enough that day, but I’m hesitant to try it again, or buy full size since it seems high maintenance. It will probably be useful as a spot concealer, though.

Weekend: Friend’s birthday
Movie: 10 Cloverfield Lane. Decent thriller.

Lily Kelley Avatar

Chanel Jersey blush.
No plans for the weekend.
Last movie I saw was MAX.

xoxo for the handsome Mellan. It is so true how we miss them just to be away for a few days. Have a great weekend Christine.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Bet Mellan missed you too!
Haul:
9 West Salon: Kevin Murphy Body Mass and Plumping Rinse (Backups. Since the line is Australian, it’s sometimes tough to get what you want as it frequently goes out of stock.)

ISH: Contour Kit – Light/Medium (Scheduled to be delivered today. I am so excited for this kit. Big fan of the MUA that created it. Will be reviewing on the blog hopefully this weekend.)

MAC: MAC x Charlotte Olympia Pigment (Overdressed) and Studio Nail Lacquer (Old Fashioned), Prep & Prime Sample, Pro Eye Makeup Remover Sample. (Scheduled for Monday delivery.)

Pat McGrath Labs: Phantom 002 – Fuchsia 002 eye blush, Copper 002 pigment (Another big score I’m psyched about. So happy to have at least gotten 2 items before they all sold out! I wanted gold too but missed it.)

Sephora: Sol de Janeiro Samba 2-Step Foot Fetish Care, Samples: The Estée Edit by Estée Lauder Flash Photo Gloss Deluxe Sample (White Flash), Anastasia Beverly Hills Concealer, Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation, Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat, bareMinerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara, Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ Clinique 3 Step System for Skin Type 1/2. (Tried the Samba this morning. The foot file is pretty nice. On the fence about the cream bc it’s super watery. It does absorb quickly so that’s a plus. Will have to see how it performs over time.)

Ulta (3x Points/2 Orders): It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Transforming Moisturizing Super Cream [I wanted to try this bc of all the hype. In the past, I haven’t been able to use IT skincare/foundation as it makes my skin break-out.], ULTA Heat Resistant Hair Tote and Holder [Bought this as a back-up], Tony Moly Cats Wink Clear Pact (2), Pacifica Underarm Deodorant Wipe with Coconut Milk & Sugared Flowers, 19pc Beauty Bag (GWP), Matrix Travel Size Oil Wonders Volume Rose Plumping Mousse (GWP), 6 Free Samples. (Will be reviewing the Tony Moly on my blog – possibly this weekend.)

Ulta (Free Shipping/Platinum Perk/3 Orders): IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Anti-Aging Micro-Powder (Transculent), IT Brushes for Ulta Face & Eye Essentials 5 pc Mini Brush Set (2), UD Sheer Revolution Lipstick (F-Bomb, Anarchy, Rapture, Ladyflower), Deluxe Sample UD Perversion Mascara (GWP), UD All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray (GWP), 9 Free Samples (UD lippies scheduled for delivery on Monday or Tuesday.)

Urban Decay (2 Orders = No Self Control): Naked Skin One & Done (Light), Afterglow Highlighter (Aura), 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil (Walk of Shame), 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Heartless), Perversion Mascara Sample (Will be reviewing everything on the blog. I swatched the foundation and highlighter already – both look and feel promising.)

Weekend plans: Mani of course. Unsure about the rest…they’re calling for snow.

What was the last movie you saw?: Can’t recall. I rarely go to movies.

Christine Avatar

I actually think this was the least he missed me! He was “mostly normal” per my husband. It was kind of a trial balloon to see how Mellan would do in the new house without me here (he has had separation anxiety here, and he did have some of it at our old house when I’d go away).

Great hauls, Michele! What are the top three that you’re enjoying?

Galaxia Avatar

Have a fun weekend with them! Can’t wait to visit with my fam again soon, too 🙂

I am about to order a YSL Tint-in-Oil, Becca blush and Too Faced Melted Matte…make myself feel better since I couldn’t get my hands on the Too Faced Peach palette LOL!!

Tomorrow night, we’re going to a friend’s place for dinner so that will be awesome.

Last movie I saw was the latest Mission Impossible. We rented it on Amazon for a “movie night in” <3

Mindy Avatar

•Haul: No beauty products but I did purchase two pairs (black and nude) of Tory Burch Caroline Ballet Flats.
•Weekend plans: We are having my son’s 2nd birthday party tomorrow!
•What was the last movie you saw?: Deadpool. Freakin Hilarious!

Haul: MAC eyeshadow pan refill in Vex and Patina. What kind of storage system do y’all recommend? Also I was going to get UD’s Sheer Liar during Ulta’s 21 days but they were sold out ?
Weekend plans: schoolwork, possibly mall for $3 B&BW soaps, volunteer at a coworker’s son’s Boys & Girls Club event, take my youth group kids bowling, and church. Busy weekend!
What was the last movie you saw?: I have no idea. Possibly Inside Out?

Joyce Avatar

Thanks! I’m glad I read your comment while I was at the mall. I grabbed the Sephora x Z Palette Baby Z palette. Love it! I was hesitant about Z palettes because I think they’re too big. I just needed something for my MAC shadows, and I loooove that Z Palette makes a smaller one. It was $10!

I also hopped over to B&BW and bought a bunch of soaps. I used a $10 off $30 coupon, so it was a great deal!

I also went to Walgreens since Rimmel is 40% off at the mo’. I grabbed a Stay Matte powder in #005, Kate Moss lipstick in #104 (looks rather purple on my skintone?), and The Only One lipstick in Cheeky Coral.

Julia Avatar

Haul: UD Sheer Rapture and Sheer Liar (ulta sale, of course!) and my Rainforest of the Sea foundation which is sadly headed back to Sephora
Weekend plans: do a little grocery shopping, hit the Crate & Barrel Outlet ?
What was the last movie you saw?: I am not a huge movie person I actually don’t remember (more of a tv show girl)! The last one I went to the theater for was the new Star Wars movie I think.

Julia Avatar

Haha now I feel really bad being the naysayer! I think it was a little bit of both regarding formula and shade – I ordered Light/Medium Neutral after looking at a lot of swatches and reading the descriptions- it was close but still a tiny little bit too yellow. I consider myself warm-toned, so I’m sure Light Medium Beige would run too pink, bring the “cool” shade, and the Honey shades are even warmer. Then it started oxidizing not long after I put it on, so it went way into ruddy/orange territory, especially around my nose and forehead 🙁 That’s why I didn’t bother trying a different shade. That said, I wouldn’t’ recommend against it or anything! Just be smarter than me and try to get a decent sample first – I read once that oxidation depends a lot on skin chemistry and it is a very consistent issue for me… who knows.

KJH Avatar

Same Ulta /UD shades. Thought it would be Slowburn, but UD sneaked a little pink in there, that doesn’t show on Christine, but pulls like mercurochrome on me. Glad they had testers out. Still had to order online, so added the Fiona Stiles highlighting palette. Very slight and sheer, more suitable for old broad, no shouts of took that highlighter train. Got the It finishing earlier in week, as had run out of MUFE HD. And Ulta is near Thurs. day job. Worked out for single buy. S: must be liking sale products. MUFE brighter palette is NOT all that bright. Very old-broad friendly. As, surprisingly is Vice 4. Never expected to get it. But at $2/shadow, wtf not? Comparatively speaking, it’s a pretty muted UD choice. But the packaging!!!! It’s like Nars shattered on steroids. Almost as bad as BOS 4,was it? Gotta go. Fractured pierce work in 3 D. Bad. Anyone ever depot a UD mega palette in plastic? Nars Banned Red. Love Nars spring reds. Again, looks nothing like it does on Christine. Warm wine undertone and mauve overtone. Mauve? Go figure. Well, had been on an unconscious no-buy; am I glad that’s over? Maybe.
Plans: SSDW.
Movie: guess I’m on a no buy there, too. Don’t even watch the ones that appeal through cable on demand or whatever the one shot view feature is.

Stephanie Avatar

Haul-Guerlain Les Petites Robes Noir lipstick and Joli Tient.
Haven’t seen a movie lately.
Weekend plans-none, nada, nothing. Relax for a change

Ginny Avatar

I’m assuming you mean the American version, since it came out recently. It was a remake of an Argentinian movie by the same name. I’m not sure how identical the plots are, but I highly recommend watching the original one if you’re interested. It was the best foreign film oscar winner (2009ish), if that influences you at all lol.

Anastasia Glow Kit That Glow
Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator Peach Glow
Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator Charming Peach
Laura Geller Truffles Collection
Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Eye Shadow Collection
Soap & Glory Glow All Out Highlighter

Weekend plans: Chopping all my hair off! Finally getting the pixie cut I’ve been wanting but was too scared to get. My hair has been long, past my shoulders for several years now, and I can’t stand it anymore (it’s very thick and wavy/frizzy). I had a pixie for many years, so it’s not totally new to me, but I’m still nervous but excited!

What was the last movie you saw?: At the theatre: Star Wars (really good) or Deadpool (so hilarious!) On TV: San Andreas (meh)

Kimberly Avatar

Haul: KVD’s Lolita 2! Gorgeous colour, works so much better with my olive complexion than the regular Lolita (mine was the third batch).
Weekend plans: Got a party to go to but studying the rest of the time.
What was the last movie you saw?: Zootopia! Amazing film, very complex themes for a movie aimed at children.

Haul – Skincare from Cult Beauty (Oskia, MV Organics). I may or may not have also placed some makeup stuff on hold at Nordstrom for the triple points event!

Weekend Plans – Sleep in, it looks like we’re going to have an overcast weekend again. Perfect weather for naps and tea!

Last Movie – A Bollywood movie, but this was months ago, I really need to catch up on the more recent ones!

Stephanie G Avatar

Haul – Way too much stuff. But I can quit whenever I want! ?

I got UD Vice 4 and the set of five travel-size UD eyeliner pencils on sale at Sephora, ordered Naked on the Run (which I was ambivalent about until I saw it on sale) and some hair products from Ulta. (The order was THREE DAYS EARLY! ? Could Ulta finally be getting it together when it comes to online ordering?) In case that wasn’t enough, I went to Ulta yesterday and bought two of the sheer UD lipsticks that they had for $11 (Shame and Walk of Shame) and also some Ulta lip products.

Weekend plans – Lunch with my mom tomorrow, then a whole lot of work around the house.

Last movie I saw – Part of The Corpse Bride on Netflix, if that counts.

Mariella Avatar

Haul: I ran out to MAC as soon as I heard about the drop in price of the pro pan shadows and got Era and Grain – 2 shades that I’d always “sort of” wanted. I tried to get Ricepaper too but they were sold out, so I’ll get it when they restock; Anastasia Pink Champagne eyeshadow (the singles hadn’t been put out yet as the display unit hasn’t been set up but I phoned and the SA at Sephora confirmed they had it and so I drove out to get it that afternoon).
Weekend plans: the gym, Shoppers Drug Mart (yet another 20X the points event so I like to take advantage of those) and maybe brunch
Last movie I saw: Woman in Gold – I got it from the library and watched it the other afternoon (it’s March Break here so I’m off all week)

Mariella Avatar

I like it a lot but the texture – when I run my hand across the pan – feels kind of rough, which surprised me. I’m eager for the rest of the shadows to be put out so I can check those I’m interested in and take advantage of the “4 shadows offer”, though several of the ones I’m liking most are “online only” so I’m really hoping Christine reviews them here, since I’m reluctant to purchase makeup online.

Katherine T. Avatar

Oh interesting! I wonder if it’s because of all the sparkles? I’ve only swatched the tester in store, and it was pretty well-used tester, so it’s probably smoother than a brand new shadow, but I remember being absolutely mesmerized by the sparkles galore. I’m hoping Sephora has a full display of all the shades, so I can pick out colors for next sale. Macy’s only had 50 shades for me to swatch, and they were definitely a mixed bag in terms of quality, so good to wait for swatches/reviews, especially if you can’t return easily.

Mariella Avatar

When I swatched the tester in the Self Made palette, it seemed smoother too. Perhaps when I get below the very top surface, it will be smoother. It is beautiful, though, and doesn’t feel rough when I apply it. Here’s the weirdest thing though – I’d be curious to know if anyone else has had this experience. I went to put it into a MAC quad and it wouldn’t stick, which seemed odd, since the pan was metal but I got one of the magnetic stick on backs from my Z palette and stuck it on and STILL the eyeshadow wouldn’t stick into the MAC palette. I peeled it off and tried it in my Z palette and it stuck fine. Then I tried it in two Inglot palettes and it stuck fine in BOTH of those (a round one and a square one) and it also stuck absolutely fine in a Sephora 3-pan palette (one they don’t offer any longer). But both with and without the magnetic sticker, it simply would not magnetically stay in either of the MAC quads I tried (the older ones and the newer ones). This makes absolutely no sense to me and I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this.

Mariella Avatar

So am I (and plenty of others). When I read about it here, and looked at the email from MAC, I immediately called the MAC store nearest me to find out if we (y’know, the people where MAC STARTED!!!!) were also having the benefit of a price drop and the SA said – with delight in her voice – that it applied here too, and she was so excited about it – you could just hear it in her voice.

Erin Avatar

Haul: If you could count my husband and his luggage from the airport. I pick him up in a few hours. He’ll be home for a week and then gone again for months. My Sephora Play box shipped so who knows what will be in there!

Weekend: Lots of time with the hubby. I might finally get to see Deadpool. Maybe some video games and the gym. Honestly it will be all what he’s up for since his time at home is limited. Military life is hard.

Last Movie: Little Chaos. It’s a nice slow film with nice sets and costumes. A drama with a bit of levity. It was hard to watch because Alan Rickman stars and directs the piece. I loved it. He’s one of my favorites and his loss will be keenly felt for sometime.

Claire L Avatar

Haul: Escentual: Dior Glowing Gardens eye palette in Rose Garden. Pleased with the cool yellow, pink and grey shades, very spring-like.

John Lewis: Estee Lauder NightWear Plus 3-minute Detox mask. Perfect for when I just want a quick mask to help with spots.

Feel unique: Burberry Nude Glow highlighter (got this instead of the white one since it’s sold out everywhere!) Love it, glad it’s not too warm a yellow. BareMinerals’ Bare skin serum concealer in Fair. A little disappointed it’s a shade too dark for me but will be OK for summer. BareMinerals’ Bareskin in Sheer Sun, will be nice for summer. Some samples. Beauty box which was a GWP – has deluxe samples of: Benefit Air Patrol eyelid primer, Embryolisse Lait-Creme concentrate, Eucerin Even Brighter day cream cream, Kiehl’s Ultra-Facial cream, Laura Geller lip crayon in Claret, Natura-Bisse CC cream, Nude by Nature perfecting primer, a Popband (hair tie), Vichy Liftactiv supreme cream, half-size KMS FreeShape 2in 1 styling and finishing spray, Moroccanoil hair oil treatment, Palmer’s daily calming face lotion. Very nice!

Plans for weekend: Fiancé is going to a writing conference this weekend, he’ll be commuting in the car so it’ll just be me and the little one mostly this weekend. If the weather’s OK I’ll take her for a run around in the park. She’s getting used to walking on the reins, but it’s a learning process for both of us! There’s a little play area where she can go on a slide too.

Last movie I saw: Like lots of others, the latest Star Wars movie – just loved it!

Claire L Avatar

I ordered it after reading Vivianna Does Makeup, she’s obsessed with it, haha! Figured it was worth the £32 (ouch!) if it’s going to be a time-saver lol.

Fran Avatar

Have a great weekend with your family, Christine!

Haul:
Ulta: I exchanged my Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani eyeshadow palette for Urban Decay blushes in Bittersweet and Rapture; also bought Lorac Ultraviolet blush, and Ulta Raincoat to replace my ancient Anastasia Lash Genius, which I finally tossed in the trash because it can’t possible be sanitary any more. Got home and found that Bittersweet and Ultraviolet look almost exactly the same on my skin! And the Raincoat didn’t keep my lower lash mascara from smudging 🙁 (I guess I need oil-proofing, not waterproofing). I actually liked Ultraviolet a bit better than Bittersweet — a hair cooler, and it seemed to blend out more smoothly — so I exchanged Bittersweet for Quiver, because I definitely don’t have a red blush in my collection, and exchanged Raincoat for IT Cosmetics tightline lash primer waterproof version, to see if maybe that doesn’t smudge on me. My local Ulta is so patient with me! I love them! Here’s a shout-out for the people who work at Ulta in Springfield, PA!
Nordstrom: I decided to also try Bobbi Brown No Smudge mascara, and Clarins Double Fix mascara top coat, in my mission to be able to use non-tubing mascaras without Lash Genius, which seems to have been discontinued. Someone on this forum mentioned the Double Fix last week, and I’m grateful! Also got Clarins cream eyeshadow in Iridescent Silver Ivory and Matte Sparkle Gray (it’s sparkly), and ordered the Instant Light Lip Perfector in plum shimmer (they were out of stock in store) since so many people seem to love that formula. The SA loaded me up with free gifts and a really nice little makeup bag that I’ll actually use: two 1-oz. bottles of body oil (nice), 3.5 oz. of extra-firming body lotion (very nice), 1 oz. of Super Restorative Night Cream, .07 oz. of face oil (I’ll have to study the ingredients before trying the face products), three little packets of Double Serum, one of Multi-Active Day Cream, and one of the True Radiance Foundation. Not sure quite what I did to merit all that! She was new, a little flustered, thought I’d been patient with her, and kept piling things in my bag!
Weekend plans: meeting up with friends for dinner this evening; going to keep my nose to my KonMari tidying up project — I’d like to at least get through my clothes and get more space cleared in my room before I start school. I’m surprised at how much of a process it is for me to keep only the things I love. There are quite a few things that I’ve gotten comfortable with even though I don’t really love them. So a lot of things go into the ‘of course I’m keeping this’ pile, and then I have to go through it again in a day or two as I think about it some more. The idea is to keep the things you love. You can love them because they do a good job for you — there are plenty of ugly pans in my kitchen, one much older than I am, that I keep because they do an awsome job of cooking — purely utilitarian things can ‘spark joy’ because they support you living your life — but I find many items of clothing that I love something about but that also have problems — tops that I love the color of but that ride up and have to be tugged back down all day long; or an insulated rain coat that’s perfect for rainy days with temperatures 45-65 degrees, but the color makes me look sick — so continuing to wear them is an endless compromise. How many years should this go on? Do I really expect myself to keep wearing them until they wear out? It seems that I do… but that’s maybe not really the best thing for my spirit. I’ve given it a year. Maybe it’s time they found homes with people who will love them. And I’m learning, or re-learning, to keep looking until I find something that’s near perfect for my needs before adding it to my wardrobe. When I lost the 40 pounds, I just had to get enough clothing to be clothed and warm and dry and be able to do laundry once a week. I can afford to take my time now.
Movie: We don’t watch movies very often! I think it was when we watched ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ and ‘A Christmas Story’ over the holidays! No — we re-watched ‘The Magnificent Seven’ sometime in January or February, and I got treated to an informative lecture (from my son) about how it was based on ‘The Seven Samurai’.

Nancy T Avatar

Fran, I know that the time has arrived for me to do the same. Go through all my clothing and shoes, and really purge the stuff I don’t use and probably never will. Also, to give a new home for these items to someone else who may love what I’ve tired of or that no longer works for me. I weigh 40 some odd lbs. less than what I weighed when I moved to AZ, so many old pieces that I kept for nostalgia purposes don’t fit me anymore, and may never. Then again, my weight fluctuates over time, in BOTH directions. So who knows.

Fran Avatar

I gave away my clothes as I lost the weight, as I intend to keep it off. Except I kept my cotton T-shirts that are only one size too large to wear as pajamas, ‘cuz I like them and they’re comfy. But more than a year later I’m thoroughly sick of necklines sliding off my shoulders and long sleeves that are hard to keep out of the dishwater. It’s time to replace them! If you really love something for sentimental value, I say keep it, but I think the chances of wearing something again that you wore ten or more years ago are slim… even if they fit again, they probably won’t look quite right in some way… the you new will deserve some new things to wear.

Christine Avatar

Isn’t it fun when someone’s recommendations end up working out so well? I have found some real gems from readers’ recommendations! 🙂

LOL, Matte Sparkle Gray – gotta love when brands contradict themselves!

With clothes, anything that I don’t reach for when it’s seasonally appropriate (as in, temperature) and the whole season goes by… I donate. That’s my rule!

Nancy T Avatar

I need, I mean REALLY NEED to make a similar pact with myself! Like if I haven’t worn it in say, 3 years (unless it’s something super special), clean it and donate it. I may never be a sz. 16 or 10 ever again, and by then my tastes may change!

Fran Avatar

Yes, I really do pay attention to what people here recommend! Lots of experienced makeup lovers 🙂

Lol about Matte Sparkle Gray! I love it! It’s actually a beautiful color, too.

Christine, what’s really funny is, I wear these problematic articles of clothing! I wear them a lot so that they’ll get worn out so that I can get rid of them! Isn’t that funny? It means I save the things I really love for ‘special days’! This is why I’m so relentless now about returning/exchanging makeup that I don’t love! I seem to feel like I’ve made a commitment to something if I keep it, that I have to use it! That’s one reason why big palettes like the Vice palettes give me so much trouble — I open them up for the handful of colors I adore, and end up spending a lot of time figuring out how to use up the unflattering colors! I guess my parents’ childhoods during the Great Depression really rubbed off on me. I need to learn to let the things with problems go to new homes, wear the things that I love every day, and not admit new things to my wardrobe unless they’re perfect. Only sometimes you have to try something out for a while before you know if you’re going to be completely comfortable in it. In order to be able to experiment with new looks, I’m going to have to develop a willingness to pass some things on before they’re completely worn out. I didn’t think I was going to like Marie Kondo’s book, but it’s much deeper than it appears on first reading, and I like it more each time I read it. But what a process! I imagine it goes more smoothly if you can arrange for private lessons with her. I’ve done major reorganization and downsizing before, but it appears my reason for slideback is that I’ve never done it completely and thoroughly through all my categories of things (papers and hobby equipment/supplies being my major challenge areas). She says an average time to do it all is six months — I doubt I’ll be able to do much while I’m in school — so I’m aiming to be finished by Thanksgiving, and seriously hoping to be done before 2017 begins. Another 60th birthday present for myself — a tidy household 🙂

They didn’t have Silver Green in the store for me to swatch, but I’m ordering it now! Found a swatch online, it looks like a green that will work for me. Silver Pink and Silver Plum are beautiful, but too red to look good next to my eyes. I wore Silver Ivory and Sparkle Grey out last night, love them, got compliments, and so far no creasing, although lining my lower lashline with Sparkle Grey led to a bit of fallout — actually kind of nice for a smudgy/smoky evening look. Will have to see how they do through a long day. Most cream shadows crease on me, so I wore it over Trish McEvoy’s Eye Base in Demure, which seems to work the best for me for cream shadows.

Maggie Avatar

I love Konmari–just finished her second book ( USA English release).

Could you get back to us on the Anastasia Lash Genius dupes? I have the same problem and am sad about it being discontinued.

I have some luck with L’Oreal Butterfly waterproof Mascara, but only when I use a clean Lash combi notice flakes if I use a dirty one. Also have heard good things about Maybelline rocket volume waterproof and Maybelline lashsensational full fan effect waterproof.

Fran Avatar

My big problem is smudging due to sweat/oil, rather than watery eyes. There is a Bare Minerals waterproofing topcoat that I tried that did about half the job for me, similar to Ulta Raincoat; I imagine that they do work well as waterproofers, just not so good as anti-smudging products. I’m about halfway through Day 1 with the Clarins Double Fix, and it’s working so far! I’d have at least a bit of smudging with most products by now (including most waterproof mascaras). It still remains to be seen if it will last through a long, humid, active day, however.

I got through an evening without any smudging with Bobbi Brown No Smudge on my top lashes and the waterproof version of IT Cosmetics Tightlining mascara on the bottom lashes. I have to try them again during a long, active, hot, humid day to be sure.

I’ll try to remember to post again about it!

KJH Avatar

Love Kurosawa. Now THAT’S movies. I relate to the waterproofing: keep us informed. Did you say if you had tried any VHE tubings? I should give serious consideration to significant pruning of STUFF. Esp considering I wear virtually nothing but AG sweats these days. Day job dress code is total grubbies. How do you distinguish the things you have sentimental attachments to, from the things you love? There is no way that I would donate my 49 y.o. Parka. Fits me, when I’m thinner, is of superb quality, and works unzipped, when I’m fatter. Still see it on others…it has unique Bakelite closures I was certain would break and never did. I guess I do love it AND have a sentimental attachment. Plus, it’s dk green. There is such a split between ladies colors and gents colors these days. To go gender neutral, you have to opt for black. Don’t ask me why I’m free associating on your pruning. We all have far more stuff than we need, and others DO need. I guess I have so much loss, that I hang on to things at times, out of fear.

Fran Avatar

Oh, I definitely understand hanging onto stuff out of fear.

Something I like a lot about Marie Kondo’s method is that it’s actually very gentle. I didn’t think so at first, because she sounds so definite and kind of stern at times, and is pretty radically minimalist herself, but she says that you absolutely should keep anything that ‘sparks joy’ (her words) in you when you hold it, no matter how useless it may seem to others. She does encourage you to find a way to use or display it so that you can enjoy it more. The whole idea, from her point of view, is to be surrounded only by things you love so that you can live the life you want to live. If it doesn’t spark joy, she recommends seeing if you can live without it. It’s important to understand that a practical item can ‘spark joy’ because it does a good job supporting your life — something doesn’t have to be gorgeous, or have a ‘wow’ factor, to spark joy, it can just unobtrusively, quietly, be awesome at what it does.

One of my big stumbling blocks is feeling that I must use something up/wear it out once I’ve paid good money for it, even if I’ve concluded that the purchase was a mistake after it was too late to return it. So I work diligently at using the stuff that I don’t like very much, ‘saving’ the ‘good’ stuff. Not really the most fun way to live!

Sounds like you love that parka, please keep it.

VHE tubings? not sure if I know what you mean… I do use blinc mascara on casual makeup days, sometimes I would like more volume than it gives me, the bigger brush on their Amplified is harder for me to use on my little eyes… I just like having choice, I guess. I think L’Oreal makes one or two tubing mascaras, I think Clinique makes one… plan B, if I find no smudgeproof top coat/regular mascara, is to try more tubing mascaras.

I’ve also heard of people using NARS eyeshadow primer as a smudgeproofing lash primer, it did seem to work when I tried it, but application was awkward for me. I suppose it might get easier with practice… but, if it gets on my undereye area, my concealer goes on too thick over it, so hard to get on lower lashes with none getting on the skin underneath, and my lower lashes are what smudge the worst.

Nicole Avatar

I hope you have fun with your family Christine! Mellan has such cute puppy eyes.

Haul: I got the rest of my large zulily order in-Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Wavelength, Stonefox, Plumage and Lunatic, Cargo single eyeshadow in Aegean, Bourjois Healthy Mix Gel Foundation (set of two) in Vanilla 52. I’m pretty happy with everything so far. I love the color of the Marc Jacobs Highliners although Plumage needs to be built up a little, but they swatched nicely. I’m planning on using them for mostly the lower lash line. The Cargo eyeshadow color is stunning and the foundation looks just a touch too dark for me, but I can lighten it. I’ve only used that on the back of my hand but I think I’m going to like wearing it. The texture is very smooth.

Ruelala had a sale on high end makeup last week and I got in some of the items I bought: Guerlain Maxi Shine Lip Gloss in Red Pow and Tangerine Vlam, Guerlain nail lacquer in Rouge d’Enfer and A La Parisienne, Shiseido Smoothing Lip Pencil in Siren, Chanel Le Crayon Khol in Clair and Estee Lauder Lucidity Translucent Pressed Powder in Translucent. Love everything so far-haven’t tried out the Estee Lauder Powder, but it feels really nice.

The rest of what I bough is kind of odds and ends from different stores. I bought the Guerlain ‘Gloss d’Enfer’ Maxi Shine Lip Gloss Trio from Nordstrom (Guimauve Vlop, Candy Strip and La Petite Robe Noir-I feel like I’m on a “collect ’em all” kick with these).

From Bath and Body Works I ordered the Moonlight Path Eau de Toilette, mostly because my kindergarten teacher used to wear it and I have such great memories of her reading books to all of us kids while we sat on the reading rug (being read to was my favorite part of the day) and just smelling her perfume-it reminds me of being little and happy and fascinated with books! Every now and then over the last 19 or so years I would walk past someone in a grocery store who was wearing that scent but I never asked anyone what it was until last year, when I ironically went to a new library and the librarian there was wearing it. So it’s been on my “to buy” list for a long time and I’m so happy I finally got it!

From Beautylish I got the Cover FX Liquid Foundation Brush and Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk. I really needed a good liquid foundation brush-this one seems like it’ll be good, although it is quite tiny. I really wanted to try something from Charlotte Tilbury but I’ve been unsure of what to get for ages. Technically I’d like to get one of the “looks”, but every time I go to get one I talk myself out of it because I know I have enough similar products that I could dupe pretty much all of the looks without a problem. So I decided to let myself try one item. It’s actually a really nice shade and I do not have a dupe for it, so I’m very happy.

And the last thing I got is the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Translucent Powder. That was a really incredible deal. Between the half off sale and my measly $3 worth of points I got the powder for under $10 with tax.

I’m actually pretty frustrated this morning though. I ordered some shoes from zulily and I’ve never had an order be so bad with them before. They’re dusty and have dirt marks on them, smushed into too small boxes so the straps have lines on them that won’t go away and on one pair of the sandals some of the holes for the ankle wrap aren’t pierced all the way through. They seriously look like mediocre/worn shoes you’d see at a thrift store. I NEVER send angry emails to companies over mistakes, but I sent one for this. It’s doubly frustrating for me because I need new shoes and most physical stores don’t carry many (or any) selections in my size (10W). So today I need to look online for some shoes to replace those and hope zulily does the right thing.

Weekend plans: I don’t really know. It’s been kind of a tough week with daylight savings-I have terrible insomnia and the time change has made it a million times worse. Whereas I used to fall asleep between 1-3am, now it’s between 3-5am. I feel like I’m barely functioning. So probably just stuff around the house. I need to reorganize my pantry and my bedroom closet, go through my clothes/belongings and see what extra stuff I want to sell and get that all organized and in my spare room. I need to put up my pictures in my bedroom because it’s looking pretty bare as well as find a place for a wall mount nail polish holder I bought from Amazon and am getting Monday. It holds over a hundred nail polishes, so it’s pretty big. Oh! Also, I subscribed to Blue Apron after the last free for haul Friday and my first delivery is tomorrow. I’m so excited!

What was the last movie you saw?: Roman Holiday. I loooooved it.

I’m sorry this was so long! I’ve been very wordy lately. I blame not sleeping.

Nicole Avatar

Ok, I know this post is already epically long, but I just got an email from musebeauty.pro that says that Viseart is coming out with new palettes. One is like a shimmery brights palette called Ribbons Boheme and then there are three six pan palettes that look like a mix of mattes and shimmers. Is this old news? I haven’t heard anyone talk about it, but I may have missed it. Oh gosh, I don’t know if I should pick up the new bright palette. They’re all on pre-order.

Nicole Avatar

Thank you! They’ve already been back in contact with me to get more information and I sent them photos, so I’m hoping they will. I didn’t even think of that, but it does make sense. Especially with how the boxes were ripped in certain parts and a few of the shoes were missing that paper they always come with to help keep their form.

You’re welcome! I’m really happy they’re coming out with those three smaller palettes, although I have no use for them personally. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a post on Viseart where people didn’t complain about the lack of different finishes so this should be a big win for them. I did put the Ribbons Boheme palette on pre-order though. I wasn’t going to, but then I started thinking about the different looks I could do with it and down the rabbit hole I went.

Nicole Avatar

Oh yeah, I understand that. Right now I don’t have a lot of bright colors in my collection, so I figured it’d be worth it. I’ll definitely share my opinion once I get it!

Christine Avatar

No need to apologize, Nicole! 🙂 I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and comment!

Phew! Nice to hear the MJB liners swatched well after they had a few manufacturing issues earlier last year! Is the IT Cosmetics HD powder amazing? Might have to try that!

Nicole Avatar

Aw, thank you! For what it’s worth, this is one of my favorite online places to visit-it’s always a pleasure! I appreciate the work you do to make it that way!

It is! They actually have stickers at the very bottom of the liners that instruct you to close the lids tightly, with a little diagram showing you to close and then twist so they’re extra super tightly closed. I’m assuming the ones that I got are from a corrected batch because of that (and because they’re not dry), but I honestly wonder why they didn’t just change the design of the packaging totally to something that you don’t have to be very vigilant about. It’s not like you can’t have a rounded design with a lid that snaps closed.

I don’t know about the IT Cosmetics powder just yet. I got it in this morning and I didn’t put on makeup today, but I’m looking forward to trying it out! I did try it on the back of my hand (which I do with everything apparently) and the texture feels nice and smooth and it’s a little yellowish which I’m excited about. All of my translucent powders (except the Estee Lauder one I also just got) are white, so I’m interested to see if the yellow cast makes for any difference once applied.

Claire L Avatar

That’s so sweet you bought the Moonlight fragrance because it reminded you of your kindergarten teacher ?. I had a favourite primary school teacher too, she was so lovely.

Nicole Avatar

Thank you! =) She really was great-unfortunately I can’t remember her name and I don’t think my mom would know, but that scent is so comforting to me now. Aw, that’s wonderful! It’s so important for kids to have teachers they can admire.

Fran Avatar

Oh, Nicole, I suffer with the switch to Daylight Savings Time, too, I can relate to that and shoe problems as well (size 9.5 AAAA) — you probably could have heard me screaming on the phone to them in the next county over something like that. I have a big box with five pairs of shoes that don’t fit that I tried to take to the post office yesterday, but the line was almost out the door — I couldn’t stand there holding that box for half an hour, turned around and left, will go back Monday. My size seems to vary with the brand, and some brands even change the last in a major way from one shoe style to the next and won’t accommodate my high arch no matter what size I try on — it would be so nice to be able to try on a decent selection in stores, instead of this ordering and sending them back, ordering and sending them back!

Thanks for the news on the new Viseart palettes — Ribbons Boheme has some gorgeous brights in it — I’m even tempted to pre-order!

Nicole Avatar

I’m sorry you’re having problems with Daylight Savings Time too! It’s so frustrating, isn’t it? I miss living in AZ when I was a kid and not having to deal with it.

Oh gosh, I feel for you. Having a non-standard shoe size is seriously difficult. Lol! That’s about where I’m at too. I just heard back from them-they’re willing to reimburse me for the price of the shoes, but they didn’t provide me with a free shipping label or mention reimbursing me for the original shipping, even though the fault was on their end. The person in the email kept using phrases like “I’m sorry the shoes didn’t work out for you!” and “not as expected”. Cute little phrases for a mistake that they don’t want to admit to. I wrote back asking for a return label, but I’m seriously losing my patience with them. I don’t blame you! I don’t know why post offices don’t extend their hours and have more people working on Saturdays-that’s when everyone’s there (I feel like everyone says this at one point or another, and the post office never catches on)! I hope your trip on Monday goes better. Yes, exactly! I have the exact same problem with my arches. The whole process of buying shoes is such a nuisance-it really would be so great to be able to try them on in store.

You’re welcome! It really does. I don’t think they could have picked a better time to release that palette. I know I’ve been craving bright colors after such a gray winter. If you do I hope you enjoy it!

Nancy T Avatar

Oh, I can relate! I hate spending a night or two away from mi tres gatos, too. Looks like Mellan missed his Momma too!

Haul: Nothing makeup related, but my phone self-destructed very late Monday night, so I had to buy another. And the SA/ Tech at the store (Cricket) failed to synch my Google account, contacts and everything else that relies on Google!!! So I cannot access my gmail, can’t get on Facebook the usual way, or login to anything linked to my gmail account. So frustrating!!!

Weekend plans: Dye my roots bcuz there’s an inch of snow-sprinkled mousey dark brown roots showing! Yeeks! Go to my meeting Sunday. And hopefully get to a different Cricket dealer to see if they can fix these issues.

Last movie you saw: Star Wars The Force Awakens with my son and his friend. Had a really nice time and enjoyed the movie, too. I may need to do this more often, although he lives way on the other side of the Valley in Goodyear. Quite far by bus!

Haul: Bite beauty Amuse Bouche lipstick in Pickled Ginger. I love the formular and evidently the color because when I got home and checked I had at least six dupes for it, lol ! Not sure if I’m going to exchange it for a different color or not. I got 2 Hard Candy Velvet Mousse matte lip colors in Cherry Blossom and Hibiscus. I really like these especially for $6.00. Got a ColourPop order : shadow in Telepathy (pretty) and Bae, highlighter in Tasty and KaePop Glo up, and matte lipstick in Sundae.

Weekend Plans: My son is home on spring break so we’ll hang out and go to dinner before he leaves. If we can fit into his busy social life, lol. Some spring cleaning!

What was the last movie you saw?: The Witch . A little creepy and pretty good but didn’t like the ending. They should have elaborated more.

Haul: Ikee Design Acrylic Jewelry and Cosmetic Storage Display Box Set; Eslor Firming Collegen Day Cream; Ipsy & Lips Monthly subscription bags; Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet subscription (Donnie Darko themed and awesome!). I missed out on the Sweet Peach palette, so I’ll have to try to snag it in-store next month. 🙁

Weekend plans: So. Much. Laundry.

Now that my older son is better, I’m hoping he can tend to his sick younger brother for a couple hours so hubby and I can go out to lunch or something. I’m going stir crazy! In the last month I’ve only been out of the house for occasional doctor appointments and grocery store/pharmacy runs. I got my nails done this morning while my hubby took care of the sick kid, and it was soooo nice.

What was the last movie you saw? At the movie theater, Crimson Peak back in October with my husband. We were planning on seeing Deadpool, but then my kids got sick. Hopefully, my younger son will get well before it leaves theaters. The last movie I saw at home was Monty Python’s Life of Brian, with my older son.

Haul: I took advantage of the price drop and got 9 new MAC shadows, Beautiful Iris, Contrast, Plumage, Cork, Saddle, Antiqued, Freshwater, Electric Eel, and Deep Truth. I also got 2 Hautelook orders in the mail from a while back, all nail polish… Two Deborah Lipmann sets- the 15 year anniversary set and the “party mix” set and a separate order from Butter London: British Racing Green, Pillar Box Red, Marrow, Blagger, Keks, Artful Dodger, and Sprog (and I forgot to get Royal Navy!)

Weekend plans: Try not to freak out about a medical procedure on Tuesday

What was the last movie you saw?: I think it was Spotlight.

Nicole Avatar

Cute pic! 🙂
Haul: I may have posted some of this a couple of weeks ago. I have been training for work for a week away. So, not much. 🙁
Armani light primer, Tarte Rainforest foundation(or whatever it’s called) , Becca correctors (I got lilac, papya, and peach). So far, they are all great except I can’t figure out the peach. Mufe cream contour palette. Bite amuse Bouche in Pepper,UD glosses in Frenemy and Shadow heart, Natahsa D powder and stick highlight,Guerlain summer meteorites, and a couple of Jack Black lip balms.
Also, I got the Drybar hairdryer from QVC during one of their 4 x easy pay events. Love this! Makes my life so much easier!
weekend plans:Unpack. I have a memorial service on sat. for a dear friend of passed after many years of battling cancer. My daughter is on Spring break next week and I’m off work. So, hopefully get some rest then,
Last movie: I think The Peanuts (not too good)

Nicole Avatar

Mostly fingers and a beauty blender tho blend the edges. I use a point tip brush or flat concealer brush to get around my eyes. It’s thick and tacky. So, over primer. But, under foundation. You need a very small amount. I think the small pot will last a a long time. I also like the brightener. I have been using that for a while. Somehow, I layer that under it with concealer! There is a great video on YouTube by Makeup by Amy Michelle. It pretty much sold me on them. You absolutely do not need any correcting that I can see. But, for future reference or if you know anyone, these are really nice! 🙂

Haul: UD Revolution lipstick in Sheer Liar (Ulta’s deal of the day yesterday), and I received the Guerlain summer 2016 Météorites on Monday!
Weekend plans: nothing special this weekend! Relaxing, maybe a short hike.
What was the last movie you saw?: hmm… I watch a lot of TV shows but not so many movies so I’m not completely sure right now… Probably Castle In The Sky by Miyazaki.

Barb Avatar

Just went to Sephora at lunch and got a bunch of stuff. 3 Tarte Lip Splash lipsticks in Bikini, Surfer Girl and Cabana Boy. Also picked up the Tarte BB Primer in light, Benefit Roller Lash mascara (my first time trying), Estée Lauder Perfectly Clean face wash and 3 of the Sephora sheet masks (I love these!!). I received a sample of the face wash when I picked up my foundation at Macy’s and I love it. It makes my face and skin feel nice and clean, it removes everything and it smells nice :). The last movie I saw was with my mom a few weekends ago. We saw London Has Fallen and it was actually really good!

My favorite is the Honey ones with the Lotus and Pearl tied for second. I bought the last three that they had there. 2 honey and 1 lotus.

Haul: skincare products, hand and foot creams
Weekend plans: visiting a wharehouse that is selling lots of really good children’s brands at 50% off, so I am picking up some bargains for my grand children
Last movie seen: it was awhile ago now as I am not a big movie goer.

Mellon looks so relaxed, no wonder you missed him! Hope you enjoyed your visit to see your parents. You must miss them a lot.

I can understand you wanting regular updates with Mellan photos! Such a cute boy.
Haul, nothing.
Weekend plans, I need to sort out old body lotions and things like that, so I guess we can call it cleaning. Fun!
Last movie, Is it old age that makes me say, I really don’t remember? I can’t have watched any good films lately now, can I!

Haul: Morphe 35N, 35E, and Zodiac eyeshadow palettes. 35N is a range of cream to brown mattes, some orange shades. 35E is all shimmer and is “bling” but not too over the top. There are a few shades that are too pink or orange for me as eyeshadow, but I think will make nice blushes. The Zodiac palette is dark purples, blues and greens. Price was too good. I had to buy them all. I also placed a Sephora order….Urban Decay lip pencil in Liar and two Clinique blushes, peach pop and pink pop thanks to the review here.
Weekend plans: Work Saturday and then set up my home office on Sunday.
Movie???? Too long. I can’t remember, LOL.

ShariP Avatar

I actually love them. I was surprised at the quality. I have some high end shadows that aren’t nearly as nice. Most of them are very creamy and blend well. There are a few that aren’t as creamy, but they still blend well. The matte shadows tend to have some fall out, but no more than high end shadows and I find that acceptable. They don’t crease on me and they look as nice at 8 pm as they did at 4 am. I don’t use a primer and for those wondering, I have pretty normal skin. I now have 4 of the 35 shadow palettes and one of the 12 shadow palettes. I keep checking the website and catching them on sale. They also package them very nice. Not one broken shadow. They bubble wrap the actual palette before it’s put into a pretty box. That box is them seriously wrapped up in bubble wrap. Then it’s put into the exterior mailing box and filled with packing peanuts.

Pearl Avatar

I know what you mean about wanting to see pictures of them and updates. If I am out of town, I’m calling and checking up on ours and want to know what he ate and when, and did he get his vitamins, and did he get his dental treat, and how many walks, etc.

Haul: MAC Emphasize, MAC Smokey X 9 eye palette, MAC Patent Polishes Innocent, Revved Up, Clever, Kittenish, Spontaneous, MAC lip liner Oh Honey, MAC extra dimension eyeshadows in Silver Dawn and Stolen Moment, MAC mascara Haute and Naughty. I love the x 9 and x 15 palettes! Such a good deal. I’m thinking about ordering the new one.
Weekend plans: Saturday cleaning the house, lunch and wine with my girlfriends and maybe a haul at MAC for a few of them, since they have reduced their eyeshadow single pan prices. Grocery shopping and cooking for the week on Sunday.
What was the last movie you saw?: Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Haul: IT Cosmetics Bye-Bye Pores Finishing Powder, Ulta Nail Polishes, ECO Tools Brushes…Ulta 21 Days of Beauty is still going, but I”m carefully planning my shoppings. 🙂

Weekend Plans: Do a little leaves’ raking, prep soil for planting new flowers and try to grow some herbs and veggies…that time of the year in FL. Then, relax watching movies and sports with my hubby.

Last Movie: Watching The Big Short as I’m typing this. Have a wonderful weekend!

I have my sights on some Stila Eye Liners, but also need more of my night cream, derma e Hydrating Night Crème. It comes in a no frills container, but it does wonders to my thirsty skin. May I ask, do you know/recommend any dark spots regime or creme? After waxing some areas in my face, process removed some skin patches. They healed for the most part but now have some darker areas in each cheek. Thanks in advance!

Maybe try Oskia Renaissance Brightlight serum? It’s based in the UK but it’s quite easy and not too expensive to get shipped to the US. Look on cultbeauty.co.uk or oskiaskincare.com
There have been good reviews on it, it’s a bit pricey but Oskia is a lovely brand and brilliant quality.

Haul: I actually bought more this week than I have in a while. I ordered some last chance super shock shadows from Colour Pop (puppy love, dance party, moonshine, and mixed tape) with their lippie stix in juice bar and their new satin lip color in the rabbit plus a lippie stix in poppin. Love everything from that order. The satin lip color and the free lippie stix were both my favorites. I also ordered some Urban Decay Naked foundation in 2.0. I think the shade match is pretty spot on and I like the formula but it’s definitely not a wear to work foundation for me. Wore off a bit before the day was over but I think I’ll keep it for days I’m just out and about. With that order I also got the Bobbi Brown luxe lipstick in soft berry (I ordered both from Belk so I got rewards points and their shipping is pretty quick.) Love the lipstick. I gravitate towards either bright pinks or berry colors and this is perfect. Then I got the new Tarteist lash paint mascara because I love their lights, camera, lashes mascara and wanted to see if this one is as good. Haven’t tried it yet because it got here last night. From Sephora I got Nars blush in Reckless (VERY sheer but not bad), Marc Jacobs O!Mega lash volumizing mascara (love), and the Tarte rainforest of the sea lip sample duo which I haven’t tried yet but I thought was a great way to try both products without committing to buying the full sized products. And then Too Faced was having a sale so I ordered their La Creme lipstick in So Berry Sexy. I’ve never tried their lipsticks before and thought it was a safe color (and price) to try it out. I also did a separate Too Faced order to get their peaches palette. I’d somehow managed not to see any pictures of it prior to the release but then saw it the day it came out and got sucked into ordering it. Fingers crossed its as pretty in person and that it’s worth it.

Weekend plans: I’m a retail sales team manager so I’ll be working all weekend and spending time with my puppy

What was the last movie you saw?: London has fallen. Great movie

Brittney Avatar

It really is! I got it based on your reviews and I love it. Great formula and color. The tube even feels very luxe. I’m still waiting on the shipment conformation email from Too Faced ?? I ordered it early Thursday morning and still nothing since so fingers crossed I am actually still getting it. Had no idea there was so much hype about the palette.

Haul: Various makeup organizers; a Revlon nail polish (725 Cosmic Flakes); and a Hard Candy liquid eyeshadow (425 Crystal Palace) which stings on my hand so there’s no way I’m getting in near my eyes!

Weekend plans: Our weekend plans were just cancelled… so anything goes! I am still working on my makeup organization but I’m not going to be finished until the rest of my organizers arrive.

What was the last movie you saw?: I have no idea. It was probably a documentary I watched online.

Christine, sorry this is off track, but just got notice Viseart has come out with new palettes!!! Right now, only at Muse Beauty, available for sale, will ship March 30. There are 3 different palettes, $45 each, with 6 shades each. There are swatches on their website, but I don’t know if those are brand new shades or old shades, but just thought I would let you (and readers) know. All of the colors look very classic and wearable, work horse type palettes.

Weekend plans: Get tax info together, try out the Honeymoon palette.

Last movie I saw: Return of the Jedi (well, the 3 Star Wars movies ending with Return of the Jedi) in preparation for seeing the new Star Wars movie, still unseen.

Happy weekend and Happy Spring, everyone!

Haul: I finally got myself started on decent skin care, time machine microcurrent machine, a 5th Ave. Buzz NuSonic tool, (face brush), Garden Sanctuary oatmeal and cream soap,
Garden Sanctuary anti oxidant ph balanced cleansing pads with alpha / beta hydroxy acids, ginseng and vit. C cleansing gel, collagen skin quencher-a vehicle for the microcurrent time machine, ginseng facial feed, Wet n wild Ltd edition spring highlighters (all three), along with the blue peach and lilac eyeshadow – which are dupes for urban decay vice Ltd in crystal (the blue glitter color), and urban decay Gwen Stefani eyeshadow palette eyeshadow in Pop (the peach glitter color).

Weekend plans: going to breakfast for nephews birthday, and hopefully farmers market. Laundry.

Last movie seen: The Last Witch Hunter. On cable. It’s been too long.
