ColourPop Gone Matte Mega Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Gone Matte
ColourPop Gone Matte 30-Pan Shadow Palette ($34.00 for 0.92 oz.) is a new, all-matte eyeshadow palette that has 30 shades. To my eye, they read as more desaturated neutral shades, though that doesn’t mean they’re all ultra-pale. Each column has a more distinctive color going from peach/copper to taupe/gray.
While ColourPop has more than their fair share of releases, I think this is a stellar palette for them to launch. The quality was consistent with their past matte eyeshadows: pigmented, blendable, and longer-wearing with light to moderate powderiness but many shades had a more velvety, substantial feel that I find exceptionally forgiving of skin texture (especially dryness and unevenness) that is not a given with most matte eyeshadow formulas. There was a good mix of light, mid-tone, and darker shades, which will make the palette more usable for more skin tones.

Fluff Up is a brighter, light-medium peach with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. The texture was soft, lightly powdery in the pan, but the eyeshadow was finely-milled and more velvety, which gave it substance and better adhesion to even drier skin. It had opaque color coverage that lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Velvet Dress is a blackened plum with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was somewhat powdery with a tendency to sheer out, so it had more medium, buildable coverage. I would recommend using this with a denser brush for the initial laydown of product to avoid fallout or else use it over an eyeshadow primer. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Such nice, smooth quality across the board! When I first saw the preview swatches, I had a really good feeling about this mega palette. This may well be the first such sized one I go for, as it contains just about every neutral matte shade I may ever need!
I was just hoping Colour pop would put out a mega sized neutral palette! Haha, their pace has been very impressive this year. All jokes aside, I am a neutrals fan and like this one more than many of their recent releases. Love a good all matte palette, and it’s nice that people shouldn’t be disappointed by the quality.
Fabulous palette, but oddly enough not interested. I see too many near dupes within itself especially the whole lighter shade range and I find big palettes like this overwhelming to use.
Whilst I am not a matte eyeshadow wearer, I do appreciate how good this palette is for those who like to pair their shimmers with a couple of mattes. This palette offers a lot of versatile shades that would work with many shimmery shades/duochromes etc or even as a stand alone eye look.
I have to give props to CP for significantly approving the quality of their shadows; even Temptalia has given high marks to almost all the new releases. While I 100% agree that they need to slow their roll, I’ve been pretty happy with what CP has been putting out.
I actually just ordered this. I’ve been wanting to expand my collection of simple matte singles for making my own palettes, this seems perfect. High marks and a great price; just what I was looking for.
If you’re starting out, this looks like the perfect nude palette, especially for minimalists.
