ColourPop Blue Moon Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Blue Moon
ColourPop Blue Moon 9-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($12.00 for 0.36 oz.) is a recent addition to the brand’s line of monochromatic eyeshadow palettes with this one featuring an assortment of blues ranging from pale, iridescent blue to darker blue. I think the palette could have used a really inky, blue-black and perhaps a true navy blue. The tone of Clued In seemed oddly warm-toned relative to most of the shades in the palette, and I felt like it didn’t go well with other mid-tone shades in the palette. Most of the eyeshadows had semi-opaque or better pigmentation, were blendable, and lasted around eight hours, though there were some issues with powderiness and blendability on a few shades (noted below).

Lumi
Lumi is a bright, iridescent bluish-white with cool undertones and a frosted sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was buildable to full coverage with less than a second layer on top. The texture was soft, lightly creamy, but it seemed to have a looser press to it so I would recommend using a lighter hand with it to avoid excess product kicked up in the pan. This shade wore well on my lid for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Formula Overview
$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce
The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Da Ba Dee
Da Ba Dee is a bright, light-medium blue with strong, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had excellent color coverage that applied well to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of color. The consistency was soft, a little powdery in the pan, but I didn’t have fallout as long as I made sure to tap the brush off once. It lasted nicely for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Moonlite
Moonlite is a bright, sky blue with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was buildable, and the impressive part was that it wasn’t prone to sheering out. I did have some fallout, so I found it easier to apply this shade first if I was using it higher up on my eye area (e.g. above the crease) to avoid it lightening anything below it (that I didn’t want lighter!). The consistency was soft, velvety, and lightly powdery, so take care to use a lighter hand to avoid excess product getting kicked up. The wear clocked in at eight hours before it started to fade more noticeably on me.

Billie Jean
Billie Jean is a pale, light-medium blue with cool undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was more loosely-pressed, slightly thicker, and I felt like it needed to be applied with fingertips or a wet brush to ensure even, smooth application of color. With a dry brush, it was a little fussier and didn’t go on as evenly, especially along my lash line. It had good pigmentation that lasted well for eight hours on me before creasing faintly.

Tide Pool is a bright, light-medium blue with a metallic sheen. It had rich color coverage that applied well to bare skin, though the texture was on the thicker side, so it worked better with flat, synthetic brushes. The consistency was lightly creamy and dense but had good adhesion overall. This shade stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before I noticed faint creasing.

Mad About U
Mad About U is a medium-dark blue with cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had good pigmentation paired with an emollient, denser consistency. The product was harder to apply evenly to bare skin, as it had more slip than was ideal, and it was a shade that worked best with fingertips or a wet brush. It wore well for eight hours on me before creasing noticeably.

Clued In
Clued In is a medium-dark blue with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The texture felt drier and firmer in the pan, and while it had good pigmentation, it was difficult to apply evenly and blend out. The powder had a tendency to adhere strongly to wherever it was placed initially, and then I really had to buff and vigorously blend to get the edges to soften at all. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

I ended up buying this and had the same trouble with Billie Jean and my dry brush…worked great with my finger. I kinda wish Clued In had been darker when I used it. Loved reading your review!
There are only two shades that I can see myself using from this palette: Lumi and Billie Jean.
I am being literally blown away by the look you did with this little palette! ?
Since these tones of blue do absolutely nothing for me, I will instead just admire them on you and live it vicariously, LOL!
I wish I could pull these shades off, though!
This looks a super fun palette to have around! I like colour pop’s inexpensive monochromatic
palettes. I think I might have a navy blue lying around somewhere to go with this. I don’t often use blue for any of my looks. So it will be interesting to see what sorts of ideas I can dig up.
I’m still entertaining the idea of this palette. I really only want it for 2 to 3 colours… stay tuned…
Your eye look is outstanding, Christine! That’s blue done right.
I got mine a couple days ago. I haven’t used it yet due to watery allergy eyes, only swatched. I think CP did an amazing job with these shades. Clued In is more of a petrol blue than I anticipated, but I like it. I do think a matte deep navy would have been a better choice, though.
My eye caught the same thing and made me think of that petrol blue from MUFE. I’m still debating this palette as lately I’ve been gravitating to simple neutrals. A few of the shades would be so lovely! Let me know if you find yourself getting good use from the palette. I’m sitting on the fence. It’s an inexpensive mistake..argh…
It’s supposed to rain the next couple days, so I’m hoping my eyes will be much less watery. If so, I’m going to try out the palette on my eyes. I’ll let you know how it goes. I may even get ambitious and post the looks on my poor, neglected IG account.
I wish I wasn’t so scared of blue. Having blue-grey eyes, I’ve been conditioned to believe I can’t wear it at all and I know that in theory I can (I just have to be very judicious about it). I nearly picked this up, cause for a buck and some change per color to have all the blues, at least I feel like I can experiment without a heavy investment. I may toss it in my cart my next CP order and give it a shot.
I do like the colors in this. I don’t have a ton of colorful palettes. Eventually I think I will buy it. I love colour pop. I have their it’s my pleasure palette and this seems like you can get a lot of looks out of it.
Even though I generally love blue eyeshadows, I am not really keen on this one. For a start I find the shades too bright blue, too neony and there are far too many mattes for my liking. I like the Billie Jean shade and like you Christine, wish there was a true navy in there.
Now Colourpop needs to make a tourquies/teal palette and I’m sold on the green to blue palettes as a set. I’m still surprised they didn’t add one deep or blackened blue to this set and the palette would have been perfect. Still very tempted by it.
Billie Jean is calling me. What a beautiful eyeshadow!
My favorite colors in general are blues and reds, not limited to makeup. That said, this is just too much blue!
Quality looks great, but feeling pretty good about talking myself out of this one. Just a year or so ago I set up a new rule, “If a palette has a blue in it, I can’t buy it!” because of how many palettes and unused blue shades I have… now, this trend has me considering buying palettes that are entirely blue! ? I think I’m all set with Sigma Creme de Couture.
