Clionadh Multichrome Eyeshadows come in different types: Jewelled, Vibrant, Hybrid, Pastel, Deep Iridescent, Glitter, Iridescent (Series 1), Iridescent (Series 2), and Iridescent Glitter.

  • Jewelled Multichromes are best for someone who wants very deep, rich color with the most intense shift as a standalone shade–better as a single lid color or as an eyeliner
  • Vibrant Multichromes are best for someone who tends to wear multiple shades on the lid as these have a more intense base color that helped to make it easier to incorporate it with multi-shade looks, though it still had shift (but also contrasting shimmer/sparkle).
  • Hybrid Multichromes are best for someone who likes more mid-tone shades and wants more versatility in whether they can be worn as a standalone lid color or as more of a wash; technically a hybrid of the Glitter finish with the tones of the Jewelled finish.
  • Pastel Multichromes are best for someone who wants a more faded or muted quality to the tones they reach for and who likes a subtler shift–not as contrasting of a shift but still visibly present.
  • Deep Iridescent Multichromes are best for those who want some of the vibrancy of a Jewelled multichrome but with greater ease of use as the more transparent base made them more forgiving. These were designed for darker skin tones in mind, so they are also suitable for a wash of product on darker skin tones without them looking too light.
  • Glitter Multichromes are best for those who love sparkle and glitter, who don’t mind the possibility of fallout, and want the versatility to wear as a standalone shade, wash of shimmer, or layered over other products. The bases vary from more or less transparent, so they are easier to work with and are more forgiving than Multichromes were more opaque bases (like the Jewelled).
  • Iridescent (Series 1) Multichromes are best for those that want something a step up from traditional duochromes but is overwhelmed by stronger Multichromes like the Jewelled range. These work well for a wash of color, highlighting (halo effect, inner tearduct, etc.), or layering over darker colors (like liner).
  • Iridescent (Series 2) Multichromes are best for those who want to use shifting highlighters to add a pop of brightness to any look or to layer over other products as these have transparent bases. Series 2 is more sparkly and tends to have a stronger/more noticeable shift compared to Series 1 (as indicated by the price increase).
  • Iridescent Glitter Multichromes are best for those who want a more sparkly top coat/illuminating shade.

I’m still working my way through reviewing the remainder of Iridescent (Series 2) and Glitter Multichromes (about 18 outstanding, I believe!), though the Multichromes are fairly consistent within each type, so I’ll update this post once those are done, but for now, here’s where we stand!

The brand is doing a major restock today, the 18th, at 5PM ET, which will be of products in stock and already made, so not a typical pre-order, which is what they’ve been doing for the past year. They will still have pre-orders available to make for the Multichromes as well in anticipation of running through the inventory they do have.  Matte eyeshadows will not be restocked until 2021. With their official reopening and restock, there is also a sitewide sale, as follows:

  • 10% off Stained Glass Collection (multichromes), both individuals and bundles
  • 35% off all standard eyeshadows (featured in this post!)
  • 35% off highlighters
  • 40% off accessories

Sadly the black-based shadows are too dark for me, with my hooded eyes and glasses. I have Kiln and Trefoil and they are somewhat wasted on me. I expect I will be buying the simpler formulas going forward.

Have you tried some of the other multichromes…maybe the iridescent or pastel varieties would work better for your eye shape. I have a similar issue with the dark multichromes, but I have several, anyway, because they are sooooo pretty…I just ordered some of the iridescent variety to see if I can wear them more easily.

Thank you, Christine

I am so excited to make my first purchase. ! am planning to pick up the All Star and Angelica’s top 10 bundles as well as few singles. Your swatches made it so easy to narrow it down. Hopefully I am able to get all the items I want.

I’ll buy one. No two. I’ll buy six, but that’s only because you can customize a set and it’s on sale. Plus it’s Christmas. And my birthday. And the end of the semester. Just six. No more. Okay but it’s really hard to narrow down. All the swatches are so pretty. I’m not going anywhere. But remember Marie Kondo. This sparks joy. Oh, it’ll probably be sold out by the time I get there. But I’ll see if six remain.

Reader, I bought kiln, sand blast, smoulder, forge, weld, weathered, trefoil, rosette, oculus, and cathedral.

Holy Moly! What a fantastic formula to achieve that kind of a result – all A’s really and lots of A+’s too. It’s a big credit to the brand and their leadership team.
And it’s a big credit to you too Christine – for bringing this brand to our attention and for testing and reviewing so many of their shades.
It is always hard to pick a favourite with so many stunning shades.

I have three and am happy with them but there are so many more! The possibilities are endless but with my hooded eyes I’m finding I’m putting them under my lower lash line and they are very pretty!

From all I’ve seen of these shadows here at Temptalia, it’s hard to imagine a “worst” as they are all so stunning. Looking at a few of them, though, (I’ve not tried any of them), I think I might find the colour shifting qualities of some of them to be more than a bit of a challenge. I was looking at either Cathedral or Opulent (not sure which now) thinking what a lovely pinky plum it was and then I saw some of the dupes, which were green and gold and realized the shadow must “toggle” between 3 or more shades which I think is fascinating but I’m not sure how it would work for me. I really do have to give one or two of them a try, though!

I bought Cathedral, Forge, Glare, Glisten, Gloaming, Grisaille, Shard.. Bloodline, Opulent, and Abrasion are s/o.. and on my wishlist.. I was late to the party.

I am in a quandry, here. I promised myself I wouldn’t buy any more of these until the ones I bought right after Thanksgiving arrived and I could play some with the iridescent multichromes that I had ordered to see if I wanted more of them.. my order just shipped yesterday, so they are on the way, but not here. But, there’s a sale! And, who knows when these will be available for purchase again, so. ….? hmmmm…

No self-control, here. ☺️ I bought Forge and Oculus in July and have enjoyed wearing them with a glitter glue base, as they crease and disappear on my eye without. Rosette, UV, and Spectrum were all ready on the way from my Nov order. Out of patience, and respecting the reviews and swatches here, I just ordered Sandblast, Gargoyle, Umbra, and Aura. Kiln, Smoulder, and Ray are on my wishlist, but were sold out for this round. I feel like I am well on my way to becoming a multichrome hoarder, because there is no way I will ever use up all of these shadows. 🤣

I wish they sell palettes as I am so overwhelmed by the amazing color stories that I don’t know which colors to pick and how to pair them together.

When I saw the title, I thought what could the worst one be? B+, nothing more to be said, but well done and stunning! One day when I am able to access their products near me or they’re in stock without crazy shipping, then I’ll enjoy a few.
