bareMinerals The Regal Wardrobe Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
bareMinerals The Regal Wardrobe Palette
bareMinerals The Regal Wardrobe Palette ($39.00 for 0.65 oz.) includes eight eyeshadows, two blushes, one highlighter, and one bronzer. The palette has $56.47 worth of eyeshadow, $15.33 worth of blush, $7.20 worth of highlighter, and $8.00 worth of bronzer for a total value of $87.00. I liked it, though it’s not quite as impressive as most of the Ready palettes are (they are nearly perfect), and one aspect that I really appreciated was that one row of eyeshadows was warmer and one row was cooler (though not truly cool-toned). The palette is also slim, so it doesn’t take up a lot of space.
Natural is described as a “light buttery peach.” It’s a light, yellowed beige with a semi-matte finish. It had so-so color coverage, but the texture was firmer and thinner compared to the other shades in the palette (and from the Ready line overall). The color lasted for 10 hours (Ready formula is marketed as a 12-hour formula). This version is a lot lighter and much less warm compared to the previous version I tried. Sephora Walking in the Sand (DC, $10.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Tarte Barefoot in the Grass (LE, ) is more muted (95% similar). Urban Decay Framed (LE, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). Cognac is described as a “gilded bronze.” It’s a medium, golden copper bronze with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It was intensely pigmented, rich and buttery in texture, blended effortlessly, and lasted twelve hours on me. Tarte Ethereal (PiP, ) is warmer (90% similar). Make Up For Ever ME644 Iced Brown (DC, $21.00) is lighter (95% similar). Benefit My Two Cents (P, $20.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). bareMinerals Hot Commodity (LE, ) is lighter (90% similar). Romp is described as an “iridescent lilac.” It’s a muted, medium-dark silvery purple with cool undertones and warmer, gold shimmer paired with a metallic sheen. It was richly pigmented with a very soft, smooth consistency that glided across the skin like butter. On my skin, the color lasted a full twelve hours. The version in the palette seems a bit more metallic, and almost cooler in tone due to the stronger sheen, than the one I had before. Inglot #420 (P, $7.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Flash is described as a “matte purple clay.” It’s a muted, medium-dark purple mauve with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. It had decent pigmentation, but it could have been more pigmented, though it is buildable. The consistency was soft, smooth, and finely-milled, so it was easy to blend out, and as it wasn’t powdery, it didn’t sheer out too readily. The color started to fade after ten and a half hours of wear. Tarte Misty Mauve (LE, ) is lighter (95% similar). KVD Beauty Plum (Contour) (PiP, ) is cooler (95% similar). Regal is described as a “velvet plum.” It’s a medium-dark brown with warm undertones and plum and bronze sparkle. Instead of The Regal Wardrobe, I think they should call this The Office Wardrobe. It’s not the most exciting or unique set of colors, but looks very wearable and nice for business travel. BTW, what is that lipstick you are wearing? Goes great with this kit
Tom Ford Naked Coral!
Definitely more of an Office Wardrobe vibe, yeah.
It’s indeed very nice that the colors in this palette are not ALL warm or ALL cool. Looks good!
I liked that part a lot!
I love how compact this looks! I have the palette that they released last year but this has more product I think. I know that I wouldn’t use the bronzer. Everything else looks lovely though. I’ll wait to see it in person. 🙂
It is very travel-friendly!
This looks good, but cardboard packaging is kinda no-go for me. I do love what I’ve tried of this eyeshadow formula though – thanks for introducing it to me Christine! Just got my third ready duo (The Epiphany) a couple of days ago and it did not disappoint!
It is funny, but I almost prefer cardboard over plastic now! It just stores better and can take abuse, lol! Metal over plastic or cardboard, though 🙂
I don’t know why BM blushes look so pale to me, like they would definitely have some trouble showing up on me? Because in MAC Pro Longwear, I am an NC40 (yes, I exchanged my foundation yesterday!). And for the eyeshadow shades, I think I have dupes galore for these!
However, I DO see this as being a great gift to give to someone who is just beginning to build up their makeup collection or who is fairly new to makeup, as these look super blendable and mistake proof.
Oh, BTW, I love this eye look you did using these! Time for me to bring out my CP Mixed Tape and Party Time, and pull in a few ABH Self-Made shades, and try to get something fairly close to that?
I don’t think they have anything that dark/intense, to be honest!
Nice. But, I must say, I’m bummed they didn’t meet the high standards they have set for themselves on this one. For some reason, I feel like not many people know about this formula and Ulta tends to mark them down even lower eventually. This one may sell through for the Holidays. I’m not sure if it’s something I’m interested in or not. I really don’t need it. Pretty dupable. I think I would need to see it in person.
I hear you, Nicole! I’m the same way. I’m left feeling a little so-so on it, even though it’s not bad at all!
Lovely palette, though I don’t care for the shade of Skinny Dip. It’s way too yellow. I’m liking the eyeshadows very muchy, especially Cognac, Romp and Flash. So pretty! I don’t think this palette is a “must have” for me, though.
The eyeshadows are the nicest part of the palette, I think!
A very pretty palette – with lots and lots of dupable colours (as we can see from your dupe list). This palette will struggle against all the many other neutral, warm toned palettes out there. The only colour I really liked was Cognac. Generally it rated really well. It has a good mix of matte and shimmery shades.
I really love the eye look you did with this palette Christine.
Cognac is a great shade!
Romp is really a winner in my book!
It is pretty!
These colors look amazing on you. I love bareminerals eyeshadows, I saw this on qvc!
Thank you, Veronica 😀
Who wants Romp & Flash as a duo? We do!
That would be awesome!
I do, I do!!!
Although popular and well rated, bare Minerals does not play nice with my skin. Have no idea why. I like the colors and try once a year with now luck. Suggestions?
Oh, that is such a bummer, Susan! 🙁 Might just be the texture of them.
Which ones do you remember trying?
I don’t recall names bc I can’t see them without glasses. I’m just now getting used to powdered face products, developing a lighter hand. I should probably try again. I like IT Cosmetics powder foundations and am improving at application. I should try this brand again
I will be picking this up! Looks beautiful.
Yay!
They need to amp up their packaging and excitement factor. Compared to the other holiday releases they always look so blah and unappealing. I get that they’re more targeted to natural looks and probably a slightly older demographic than some makeup brands but companies like tarte goes more natural and yet has exciting releases with cute packaging. I do like those 2 mauve/purple shades though.
Different strokes for different folks! 🙂 Tarte and Too Faced’s packaging so rarely do it for me, but I tend to like simpler packaging (Burberry’s is my favorite).
A very nice selection of easily worn everyday eyeshadows. I feel I have quite a lot of dupes, if not I’d rater like to get this, even if I will hardly use the bronzer at all.
True! It is a dupable palette 🙁
I swatched this at Sephora the other day and thought.. meh. However, you sure got a beautiful eye look out of this palette ( love the lower blue-ish liner ). Maybe I should revisit this palette 🙂
Monica.
Really! I think the blushes are less impressive, but the eyeshadows were nice (and comparable to their other shades). Their blushes were less impressive to me than their eyeshadows even when they were initially released, though.
Romp,Cognac , and the love letter blush might be the reason I get his palette
Romp is SO nice!
This is on sale on ulta’s site for $29. I originally passed because I have the of the eyeshadow shades in quads and duos, but I have really been wanting Top Shelf for cognac, so I think I’ll get this instead since it’s on sale.
Thank you for the heads up, Tiffany!
