Green Eyeliners
Green Eyeliners: MAC Emerald Sea, MAC Landscape Green, UD Graffiti

Green Eyeliners: Your Guide

I’ve split greens into three sections: medium and aqua greens, then dark greens and olive greens.

  1. MAC Emerald Sea is a brightened, light-medium green with yellow undertones. (LE)
  2. MAC Landscape Green is a medium, grassy green with yellow undertones and a matte finish. (FYI, not safe for water line usage.)
  3. Urban Decay Graffiti is a grassy green with subtle yellow undertones and a subtle sheen.
  4. CoverGirl Green Glow is a chartreuse green with a warm, gold sheen.
  5. Make Up For Ever #17L is a pale chartreuse green with a golden sheen.
  6. MAC Colour Matters is a true chartreuse with strong yellow undertones and a matte finish. (LE)
  7. NARS Parrot Cay is a pale, aqua green with a matte finish. It is very much like Korres #12.
  8. Korres #12 is a pale aqua green with a matte finish. It’s a dupe for NARS Parrot Cay! (DC)
  9. Chanel Jade is a dark aqua blue/green with a frosted sheen.

TEMPTALIA PICKS:  #2 (pigmentation)

Behind-the-Series:  It was my intention to provide heavy, opaque swatches to provide an accurate color comparison.  Some eyeliners required one pass, some required five, and a few even more.  When possible, the shade name (above) is linked to the original review so you can read more about the quality, wear, etc. of a particular eyeliner.  If we’ve never done a review, there will be no link.  Shades that were limited edition will be marked with “(LE)” and shades that were discontinued will be marked with “(DC)” after the color description.  You can also find all comparisons on The Dupe List.

Beautiful Beginnings with CoverGirl

What was the first CoverGirl product you ever tried?  Did it pave way for a real romance or did it put you off the brand entirely?  What was the first product you purchased?  Did you love it? Hate it? Still own it?

my answer: I can’t remember if I had tried anything prior to the blog, though I feel like I must have. The first product I reviewed was the Smoky ShadowBlast. I remember being most impressed by their LiquilineBlast eyeliners, though. Those were really fun!

Share your first time experiences with CoverGirl in the comments! :)

CoverGirl Delish Lip Perfection Lipcolor

CoverGirl Lip Perfection: Rapture, Temptation, Burn, Rich, Flame, Hot

Here last six shades from the Nudes/Corals/Reds portion of the CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipcolor ($6.99 for 0.12 oz.) range. When it comes to seeking out rich, opaque lipstick with an affordable price tag, LipPerfection is at the top of my list. The only issue I had with the formula is that it is not as moisturizing as it claims to be. They can be on the thicker side, because they are so creamy.

  • Rapture is a frosted, pink-coral with full color coverage. It’s a bit redder than Make Up For Ever #4 but a little less orange compared to Lancome Corset. MAC Viva Glam Cyndi has a similar color base but doesn’t have the frosted finish (so it appears darker).
  • Temptation is a vibrant, dark coral-orange with coppery-gold shimmer. Surprisingly, this shade was a little less pigmented than the majority of the range, though it still has nearly opaque color coverage. Urban Decay 5150 has a similar base color but lacks the gold shimmer and sheen. La Prairie Corail is less glossy and vibrant. It is richer and more vibrant than MAC Drive Me Wild.
  • Burn is a rich, deep red with ruby micro-shimmer and nearly opaque color coverage. It’s a touch brighter compared to Guerlain Garconne but very similar. It’s a bit darker than Chanel Byzantin.
  • Rich is a subtly berry-infused red with pale, white-pink shimmer. It applies opaquely with a soft, frosted finish. It’s a little redder but seems closest to Tom Ford Moroccan Rouge. Estee Lauder Plumberry is redder.
  • Flame is a vibrant pinky-red with a creamy finish and opaque color. Make Up For Ever #37 is several shades lighter. MAC Pink Fusion is more orange-based and lighter. Chanel Cambon comes close but it’s a touch lighter and less vibrant. MAC Gesina seems to be the closest – just a little more red-based.
  • Hot is a vibrant cherry red with subtle blue undertones. It is similar to any number of blue-based reds (see the Swatch Gallery of red lipsticks to compare). Two I felt were remarkably similar were Make Up For Ever #43 and MAC Heartless.

A
I think the color range is excellent, and there are some really stunning shades that I think people would love. These are a more moisturizing lipstick, but they don't replace lip balm for me, so the rating reflects a slight miss on that particular claim.

CoverGirl Delish Lip Perfection Lipcolor

CoverGirl Lip Perfection: Delish, Heavenly, Romance, Rush, Kiss

Here are five shades from the Nudes/Corals/Reds portion of the CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipcolor ($6.99 for 0.12 oz.) range. When it comes to seeking out rich, opaque lipstick with an affordable price tag, LipPerfection is at the top of my list. The only issue I had with the formula is that it is not as moisturizing as it claims to be. They can be on the thicker side, because they are so creamy.

  • Delish is a warm, medium peach with a subtle shine and opaque color coverage. It is similar to MAC Fashion City but is a touch darker. It’s a bit less pink compared to Illamasqua Brink and YSL Peach Passion. Giorgio Armani #507 is lighter.
  • Heavenly is a medium-dark neutral pink with a glossy shine and opaque color coverage. MAC Blossom Color is lighter. NARS Montego Bay is lighter and more coral.
  • Romance is a medium-dark pink with a beige tint, but it’s still more pink than it is a beige or nude. The color coverage is opaque, and the finish has a soft shine. It’s a touch less pink than Chanel Darling. It is darker and less pink compared to MAC Mehr. It is step or two darker than MAC Gem of Roses and MAC Supreme Style. This shade is great for an everyday lip.
  • Rush is a toned down coral with a creamy finish and opaque color coverage. Make Up For Ever #4 is a touch pinker and has a soft, frosted finish, but the color is still similar.
  • Kiss is coppery coral with a extremely frosted finish. The color is still opaque, but the finish is definitely one of the frostier ones I’ve come across. Chanel Teheran is more vibrant with a stronger orange base. MAC Drive Me Wild is more orange and has gold shimmer/sheen rather than the whiter frost of Kiss. Milani Coral Bora Bora is similar in color but has a softer frost finish.

CoverGirl Turquoise Tempest Eyeshadow

CoverGirl Turquoise Tempest Eyeshadow

CoverGirl Turquoise Tempest Eye Enhancers Eyeshadow ($3.47 for 0.09 oz.) is a muted blue-teal with a semi-matte finish. It has a very subtle shimmer, but it’s hardly noticeable when worn. I found the color was rather like the color in the pan–both had a dusty quality to them–so it didn’t seem in-your-face bright. The color payoff was good initially, but it sheers out very easily, which means it doesn’t apply as well on the lid as it swatches.

It has a tendency to look faded even though it has just been applied if you make an attempt to blend it out on the lid.  The color didn’t fade much over eight hours though there was a bit of fall out, but it was difficult to get true-to-pan color on the lid from the get-go.  The texture was also a little powdery and didn’t always apply evenly.  I found the best results were achieved when you packed on the product and didn’t blend too much–just stick to the edges.

Inglot #372 is more of a true teal in comparison (less blue), while MAC Surf Baby has more green. Milani Teal the Truth is similar but has a very metallic finish.

C+
This is something that would be nice for someone who wants to experiment with brighter colors without breaking the bank, but for someone who loves their brights, this may be more of a disappointment.

CoverGirl Captivate Lip Perfection Lipcolor

CoverGirl Lip Perfection: Captivate, Fervor, Enchant, Smoky, Enamor

Let’s take a look at five more shades of Lip Perfection, and these five finish up the range of brown-based lip colors within the CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipcolor ($6.99 for 0.12 oz.) formula.  Like the first six I reviewed, this set of five yield opaque color coverage with very little product (think one swipe!) and have a slight shine regardless of whether it’s a straight cream or laced with a little micro-shimmer.  As I said in my original review, the only ding on these is that they’re not as moisturizing as they claim to be.

  • Captivate is an opaque, lightened, brick red with a creamy finish with a subtle shimmer and shine. It’s a little lighter than Bobbi Brown Raisin. It seems a bit redder than Chanel Imperial.
  • Fervor is an opaque, plummy red with a creamy finish and shine. It’s only a smidgen darker than Cle de Peau #117. It’s pinker than Chanel Ballet Russe. It’s also similar to MAC Sappho.
  • Enchant is an opaque, dark chocolate brown kissed by red with a glossy shine and creamy finish. It’s not quite as dark as NYX Very Berry but similar. It is also similar to NYX Decadent Lipstick, which is a little lighter. It’s more opaque and a touch lighter than MAC Underworld.
  • Smoky is an opaque, rich bronze shimmered brown with a metallic sheen. I couldn’t think of anything similar to this that I’ve reviewed.
  • Enamor is an opaque reddened brown with a creamy finish and shine. It has a creamier finish but is close to the color of Illamasqua Growl and Bobbi Brown Blackberry. MAC Dark Side is redder and brighter, but it is fairly close to MAC Dark Deed.
