Skin tone/Coloring: Light neutral, green eyes, dark hair with some silver
Favorite Look Worn: An awesome green eye look that might just be the best one I’ve ever come up with! I used a combination of the KVD Saint & Sinner Palette and one MAC single shadow: KVD Martyr in crease, KVD Relic on inner lid, MAC Sumptuous Olive on center of lid, KVD Immaculate on outer V, and three Marc Jacobs Highliners (Blaquer to tightline upper lash line, In The Buff on lower waterline, and Brownie smudged under outer 2/3 of bottom lash line). Plus Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup in Desert Beige, Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder, Chanel Joues Contraste Blush in Pink Explosion, and NARS Audacious Lipstick in Stefania. Plus my everyday usuals: Clinique Brow Shaper in Charcoaled, ABH Brow Wiz in Granite, Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara, and Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Light Neutral. (Side note: This look paired very nicely with Mugler Aura perfume.)
Most Used Product: (Aside from my usuals) MAC Mineralize Blush in Sweet Enough, Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighter in Precious Petals, and Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Zinnia. I didn’t use eyeshadow or lipstick for most of this week.
New Beauty Discoveries: My lips went through a dry, flaky period this week, so I went off lipstick and used Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm instead. The smell is kind of weird, but it helped a lot and has a tiny hint of color. I’m happy to report that my are back to normal and ready for some real lipstick!
I like reading your favorite looks. I think we have similar coloring and it gives me inspiration. ?
Thank you. That makes me feel good. I often feel like I have no idea what I’m doing!
I agree with you, the smell is weird on the Burt’s Bees tinted lip balms – I have some myself and just recently used it when I had my cold. It’s good stuff, but I am not keen on the smell either.
Is it a mixture of honey and something else? I’ve been trying to figure it out.
My skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Favorite look you worn: I must seem so boring compared with so many others here but it was MAC Into the Pink blush, NARS Kalahari (the more glittery side) over an iron-clad base (heat wave here and a/c at school on the blink); MAC Wedge in the crease, Sephora Cappuccino liner and, for a change, Bite Beauty Vigne (discontinued) lipstick. Powder foundation (because of the heat).
Most used product of the week: Urban Decay Primer Potion (and for makeup, Lise Watier powder foundation)
Any new beauty discoveries: REN facial spray (the one with the anti pollution claims which are, let’s face it, just nonsense) – it’s a great facial spray and I like a lot of REN products but I wish they’d back off from the “legit sounding” (but nebulous and misleading) claims.
Heatwave + classroom of kids + wonky a/c = not fun at all!
I know the feeling.
My skin tone/coloring: Medium w/ olive undertones, MAC NC37 Studio Sculpt, Lancome Teint Idole Foundation N360, deep brunette, blue-green eyes w/ gold flecks.
Favorite look you worn: Thursday, when I wore Fenty Tini Kini/Mamacita for the half hour before tearing began to break it down! First I sculpted the crease using rosy brown MAC eyeshadows (Soft Brown, Folie, Handwritten), patted Mamacita onto inner and mid lid, once dry, Tini Kini over it, then Nars Pasiphae on outer lid blended over to meet with the Fenty shades. On cheeks, I used UD Jawbone, Tarte Parrrrty, and MAC Whisper Of Gilt. On lips I wore ABH Dead Roses lipstick with Fenty Snakeskin lip gloss from Summer Nights patted and smoothed over it. Very summery and reptilian, I suppose!
Most used product of the week: Has to be my two recent Fenty Beach, Please collection items!
Any new beauty discoveries: Oh yeah! Thank you to whoever it is who has been mentioning Nyx Proof It! Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer! It worked when I used it yesterday. No teariness happened, though, so perhaps I’ve been having reactions to previous primers perchance? Anyway, I love this primer. Although, one does need to set it with powder. So I did. I applied RMS No Color Powder first.
Regarding the NYX primer, I’m pretty sure that was me. I’m glad you like it! I’ve been using it for a couple years or so. But I’ve never set it with powder, so I’ll definitely give that a try.
Isn’t it funny? I did suspect that it was you, but wasn’t 100% sure, yet I somehow remembered the name of the primer! This primer will likely now be HG status for me. Used it yesterday, and my eye makeup did not budge until I removed it. No tearing either! Which make me wonder if I could be allergic or just sensitive to something in my other 3 e/s primers.
I wait until Ulta has a NYX sale and then stock up on them. I love how it keeps my brows perfect all day.
Nancy, using the NYX waterproof primer, did you notice any drying of the lid? I can’t remember if you have ever mentioned whether your eyelids are dry or oily. For some reason I am wanting to say that you have oily lids but I am not remembering things so well this week. Too much bad stuff happening. I tend to have dry eye lids which is probably why I picked up the NYX hydrating primer. After Seraphine recommended the Waterproof version I decided I would pick it up the next time I go to town so just wondering how you felt it worked for your eye lids?
Deborah, yes, mine do run on the oiler end of the spectrum! Especially right where I have the fold on my lids and around the lashline area, but my browbone has begun to get dry. This primer looks and behaves just right once it has dryed and I’ve powered it. At first, though? It makes my lids look really strange! Gotta powder over it if one doesn’t want it to “grab” at matte eyeshadow, or so I read on Makeup Alley. Not sure what to make of the fact that I didn’t get any tearing at all on Friday….makes me wonder about UD Eden, Milani and WnW e/s primers, though!
It was definitely you, Seraphine. You were responding to an eye shadow problem that I had and you recommended the primer and reminded me to get the waterproof one and not the hydrating primer. I checked my stash and it is the hydrating one that I have. I am going to have to try and pick up the other one to try. Glad to hear that Nancy likes it too. I started using the Milani primer after reading another Temptalia commenter recommend it to her and then she mentioned it as a favorite. Such a great community for resources and inspiration.
Skintone / coloring : light, MAC NC 15 – 20, med brown hair and eyes
Favorite look worn : MAC Malt in crease. MAC Sun, Tan & Repeat on eyelid. MAC Kohl Pencil in Raven on top lashline. Armani Black Ecstasy Mascara in Obsidian Black. Physicians Formula Butter Blush in Plum Rose. Cover Girl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in Mauve Twist
Most used product of the week: Armani Black Ecstasy Mascara. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal. Physicians Formula Bamboo Wear Bronzer in light. MAC Studio Fix Fluid. Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Pressed Powder in light
New beauty discoveries : I’m leaning toward liking a face primer which is unusual for me. It’s the Miracle Blur from Loreal. I was going to declutter but decided to keep it. It makes my foundation look nice!
MAC Malt is one of my favorites. The combination with Sun, Tan & Repeat sounds so interesting, but that shade is no longer available. 🙁 One of its dupes is #8 in the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone palette, so I might try that shade with Malt.
I’m not sure if you’re in the US but did you try Macy’s and Nordstrom for the Sun, Tan & Repeat? I know they were out at my local MAC store but they reserved one at Macy’s for me. It’s very similar to Club too. It’s like it’s purple -ish version. But yeah you absolutely could use the blue brown color in the Comfort Zone palette for a similar look. I have all Comfort Zone, Club, blue brown pigment and now Sun, Tan & Repeat… I’m obsessed with this type of shadow lol
I went to the MAC store and Macy’s today, but they said that shade was LE and there are no more. Oh well, money saved. I’m going to get Comfort Zone instead.
Well that’s a bummer. It’s a popular shade I guess but Comfort Zone is a comparable dupe 🙂
My skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones
Favourite look you worn: I have been experimenting a lot more with both my Lorac Pro Metals palette and the bareMinerals Soft and Smokey, using shades interchangeably. A favourite one was the Amber shade all over the lid (copper shade) and Mysterious Sky (smoky matte navy) on the lower lid, with a touch of gold in the corners. Paired with Clarins Joli Rouge lipstick in Cinnamon Spice.
Most used product of the week: All my stapes, plus the two eyeshadow palettes named above.
Any new beauty discoveries: That Ambush from Vice 2 is a beautiful bronze shade. I really would love it if Urban Decay put all their neutrals into one palette.
My skin tone/coloring: fair/cool skin (foundation matches: L’Oreal True Match C3 Creamy Natural, Urban Decay All Nighter 2.5, NARS Natural Radiant Longwear 2.0 Mont Blanc, probably KVD Lock-it Light 44 Cool), gray eyes, brown hair with red highlights and scattered blonde and blue strands.
Favorite look you worn: Either Wednesday or today. Wednesday I used UD All Nighter 2.5, KVD Kelly eyeshadow, Sephora V for Volume Turquoise League mascara, NARS Satellite of Love blush, and KVD Studded Kiss Creme Backstage Bambi lipstick. Today I used L’Oreal Creamy Natural foundation, UD Freak on lid, shades 4 (middle left, purple glitter) and 5 (dead center, dark purple) from Huda Beauty Gemstone Obsessions in crease, Stila Fabulous in Fiji Escape (long-discontinued, AFAIK) on browbone, Hard Candy Ginormous Lash Purple Haze mascara, L’Oreal True Match C7-C8 Spiced Plum blush, and Backstage Bambi.
Most used product of the week: Probably my CoverGirl Clean Normal Skin 120 Creamy Natural powder and Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin 10 Ivory concealer.
Any new beauty discoveries: Not really.
