Viseart Coy Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Coy
Viseart Coy Eyeshadow Palette ($80.00 for 0.84 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette that features a slew of colors from yellow to purple to green. The finish of these is called “Crystalline Satin” and is supposed to be similar to the “Crystalline Highlighter” shades in the Grande Pro Vol. 2 Palette from last year. The formula is described as buildable from “sheer to full,” though I found most shades to be more semi-opaque to opaque in one layer. The texture of the eyeshadows had a softer, almost dusty in a way, that made them very blendable and easier to sheer out if preferred; because they were softer, it was easier to use a lighter hand to get sheerer coverage if preferred.
If you like your eyeshadows fairly pigmented, then it’s a better-rated palette than it seems at a glance (more like 92%). I enjoyed using the palette, and I felt it had a soft, sparkly effect with more fleck-like sparkles–finer, flatter, and shinier–that sat well on the lid. and tends to “melt” a little after a few minutes of wear. The colors were a richer take on pastels for spring,

Coy #1
Coy #1 is a bright pop of lemony yellow with a soft, metallic sheen. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer with a soft, lightly dusty texture that was blendable and easy to work with. I think if one wanted sheerness, you’d have to use a light hand and avoid primer to get a really soft wash of product. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading a touch.

Formula Overview
-
The eyeshadow formula is supposed to be "pigment[ed]" with "smooth and even application" that is "long-lasting." The matte shades are typically semi-opaque to opaque but buildable with soft, velvety textures that can sometimes be a little powdery or slightly firm, depending on the shade. I find that the mattes are often best suited to someone who likes control over pigmentation and may prefer to build up color; they regularly perform better in practice than just swatched on the arm as well.
The shimmer shades range from satin to metallic, and the more metallic shades tend to feel creamier to the touch, while the satin ones have a fine pearl to them that looks almost melted on the lid once blended out. Both the mattes and shimmers are blendable and easy to work with. Most of Viseart's eyeshadows wear between seven and nine hours on me.

Coy #2 is a soft, minty green with warmer undertones and cooler flecks of more bluish-aqua sparkle. It had medium, buildable pigmentation with a soft, smooth texture that felt almost a little emollient to the touch. The eyeshadow applied evenly and blended out with little effort, and it was particularly intense and shiny when used with a dampened brush. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours on me.

Coy #3 is a medium-dark coral with warm, orange undertones and a golden, metallic sheen. It had good color coverage with a soft, lightly dusty texture that blended out very easily along the edges but had a tendency to look a little faded after it was applied. In order to retain the depth, I had to use a dampened brush to apply it, and then it seemed to stay more true-to-pan in color. It lasted nicely for eight hours on me before it started to fade noticeably.

Coy #4 is a soft, silvery white base with silvery lilac to pink shifting sparkle. The eyeshadow had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a soft, smooth consistency that was soft enough to pick up easily with a brush but did not get to the point of being powdery or prone to fallout. It applied evenly and blended out well along the edges.
The eyeshadow wore well for eight hours on me before fading slightly.

Coy #8 is a medium purple with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was best built up using a dampened brush, as I felt it was slightly drier compared to other shades in the palette. This shade stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before fading slightly.

Coy #8
LELimited Edition.
Coy #9
Coy #9 is a bright, almost translucent white base with a sparkling, pink-to-lavender shifting sparkle. It had many more sparkles and a much stronger, deeper pink color compared to Coy #4, which looked a little more silvery and lilac in comparison; this shade looked wetter in how shiny its finish was. The consistency felt smooth to the touch with very fine sparkles/shimmers that applied surprisingly evenly and with very little fallout. It had medium, buildable pigmentation, which made it truer to description than most of the shades in the palette for me (which were more pigmented than advertised). It lasted well for eight and a half hours with very minimal fallout over time.

LELimited Edition.
Coy #10
Coy #10 is a light-medium green with subtle, cooler undertones with much warmer, more golden shimmer. It had a more pearlescent finish to it–shiny but not frosted with very fine shimmer. The texture felt soft with slight powderiness in the pan, but it applied evenly and smoothly without giving me trouble with fallout. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer, though of course it could be really diffused and blended out for a wash, I wouldn’t describe it as buildable (as it was described). This shade wore nicely for eight and a half hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Coy #10
LELimited Edition.
Coy #11
Coy #11 is a light lavender with subtle, cool undertones and a bright, sparkling sheen. It had opaque color coverage paired with a soft, slightly more loosely-pressed consistency. I would recommend using a lighter hand when picking up the product as it can be easy to overload the brush, which results in fallout. The eyeshadow applied well to bare skin, smoothed out nicely, and blended out with little effort along the edges. This shade stayed on well for eight and a half hours before it started to fade on me.

When I first saw this palette, it was a hard no for me. Then I saw different photos and I could see the beauty in it and was tempted ever so slightly. Now seeing the swatches, I am back to the firm no. Pastels just don’t do it for me. I am happy that it has rated so well b/c that means those who invest in this will be happy with their purchase.
Gotta say, I really got lucky this time ordering before your full review! Ordered it based exclusively on your swatches. Just knew in my heart that this one was a true gem of a palette, and it does not disappoint! Now to dig in and actually use mine….probably using mattes from Pastel Goth (hey, I may not be a KVD fan, but I’m using up what I bought!). Feeling springy!
Looking forward to hearing how you like it after you have a chance to use it!
Oh, I love the idea of these matched the the Pastel Goth palette! Great idea! 🙂
Girl you need to post some pix! You’ve been slacking !!! I love your pix?
I’m gonna try it with my creepy cute palette.
Yea I ordered it. That purple eye look is soooo pretty Christine ! I like the orange too and not a big orange eye look person.
I loved your comment about using this with the KVD Pastel Goth as that has sat in the bottom of my drawer untouched being that pastels don’t look good on my med olive complexion. With that bring said it gave me ideas to combine Coy with the KVD and l was also thinking some of the Denona Safari mattes. I ordered it 2 days ago and was in my hands today! Unbelievable, and I live about as far in the continental US as you can get from SF! The fact that these are a richer take on pastel is what sold me, there is nothing white or chalky about it. I mean look at Christine’s looks! It’s fresh, light and ethereal. I have found that at my age sheer is more flattering and youthful looking than opaque, and that goes for lips, foundation etc. I think these shadows will fall perfectly into that theory! I can’t wait to experiment!
This is such a pretty palette! I like the darker, more muted take on pastels that this palette offers.
Yeah, kind of want this one but I’m SO FEED UP with our shit Canadian brokerage system I’ll see if I willing to deal with order anything not sold trough Landmark shipping from the US again (Amazon.com, eBay.com and Beautylish). I ended up paying taxes twice from one company because FedEx charged them again due to improperly filling out forms….. Nope NOPE NOPE.
I’m actually surprised about how many dupes I don’t own of these shades… please make permanent! But going on my wish list this year.
There were some neat shades here – ground between pastel and brights not often covered!
Sorry about the shipping woes 🙁
I’ve recently became a subscriber to your posts, so I hope you don’t think I’m stalking you, lol. I’m a confessed makeup addict and love all the brands you review. I just purchased a Viseart lip palette and an eyeshadow palette. They are both amazing. The lip palette is fragrance free, which is a huge plus for me. The colors are beautiful and easy to blend. And, the eye palette is the best I’ve ever used. And I’ve tried all brands. I’m definitely going to purchase this new palette. Thanks so much for your review!
Welcome!
Which eyeshadow palette did you get, Andrea? Happy to hear both are working well for you!
Hi Christine, I have the 01 Neutral Mattes and the 02 Classic Paris Velvet Lip Palette. ❤️
I’m tempted by this — it’s not my usual colors, which means I don’t have dupes for the colors that catch my eye.
It’s a great palette of pastels, done really well. A fabulous assortment of shades and hues that has resurrected Viseart’s reputation. I am not a pastel wearer myself, but I am pleased when a brand brings out something really good.
Fabulous eye looks Christine.
This is a hard one for me. When I first looked at the palette I was not too intrigued. I don’t use a lot of pastels and at first glance it looked to be a traditional white based pastel palette. When looking at swatches I can tell there is more depth of colour and not so bubble-gum coloured shades. Now, my dilemma, I am limiting myself to two palettes this year and not sure if I want to use one of them up on this palette. It being limited edition is the rub. I am going to have to think long and hard about this one.
When I first saw your eye shadow looks, Christine, I wondered what kind of sorcery you had used to get that depth of colour in the outer V of the green look. I went to details and saw that you had pulled in the dark matte shades. I really thought you were pulling something magical out of this palette, which would have had me running to buy it without even thinking of my no-buy, LOL!!
Oh, yeah, I paired all the looks with Dark Mattes for crease shades 🙂
This is so very pretty! So excited to see your swatches and review! I want to wait and see if it comes to Sephora…
Fingers crossed, Sandy!
I just wrote a note asking on Anastasia’s insta and she said she needs to contact Sephora. Hope she does!! She’s so sweet and great about responding…
I don’t think these colors are a good fit for me, but boy are they lovely! Hats off to Viseart for bringing something fresh and beautiful to market. As always, your eye looks are beautiful, Christine.
I am so tempted by this but it’s been so many decades since I wore pastels that I can’t remember whether they flattered me. Hopefully zi will have time to ponder before it disappears.
This reminds me of a more shimmery version of the Lorac Brunch palette from a few years ago
Much deeper/richer overall, IMO!
I’m surprised at the low rating. This palette is an absolute gem in my view, but I understand so much is subjective. I’m curious about ratings and am new here so hope this question isn’t redundant – are rate “budget” palettes and products rated on a curve based on the price differential between them and more expensive brands. For instance, I notice that many Colourpop products receive high ratings (many A and A- scores), while more expensive brands that I consider to be far superior in quality receive lower scores. It would make sense to adjust ratings based on price, but I don’t want to presume that’s your methodology. Just trying to understand the disconnect in my experience. If you’re still reading, you’re a saint. 🙂
No, price has no impact on the rating at all – ratings are based on claims made about the specific formula/product. The big claim that this palette didn’t live up to, in my experience, was that it wasn’t really sheer and buildable; it was more semi-opaque to opaque and at most, you could use a very light hand or diffuse and sweep out the product a bit to sheer it out (but this is true with pigmented eyeshadows in general). If you read the second paragraph, I commented about how I liked it but it didn’t live up to an important claim and was something that missed across the majority of shades but how it missed is what some people may find to be a good thing (it’s basically more pigmented than advertised).
You can read how I review by clicking “Review FAQ,” which is linked at the bottom of every page. https://www.temptalia.com/review-faq/
I haven’t personally experienced price being an indicator of quality in either direction. I have experienced plenty of misses from luxury brands as well as affordable brands and vice versa – great products are available at all price points but there are also abysmal showings from all price points!
Looks like a great palette, but … pastels! Ack! Burn it with fire!
I’m sure it will make many people very happy. 🙂
I might have lost my mind a little over #10. Good thing this isn’t available at my local Sephora yet, or I might be tempted to break my no-buy (for the third time in a month, yikes).
This is so pretty but I just don’t know if I could convince myself to wear pastels.
I have this one in my hot little hands. Haven’t used it yet since it feels so Springy to me and, well, it’s so completely winter here. The colors just make me happy. My 13 yo self would’ve died for this. Love the reminder of pure childhood joy!
I wear pastels quite often and these are my colors. Based on your swatches, I went for the pre-order. The palette came today and I wore my first eye look, layered over some Sydney Grace Co mattes. Their greens, aquas, and blue-greens are better than Viseart IMHO. I’m happy the colors are more pigmented. And this will be a go-to palette for me. Thank you for those early swatches, Christine and happy to see your looks and review.
No problem! I think most Viseart fans will prefer more pigment over less but it’s just one of those things that gets confusing!
This reminds me of Paris Nudes, which I found looked sheer and washed out on me. Paris Nudes made me avoid Viseart for a long time. Since then, I’ve only gotten the Cashmere palette. Overall, Viseart underwhelms me.
this is a beautiful palette; I just bought my first Viseart palette- Bridal Satin. It is also pastel and I have not been able to put it down since I got it. I am new to playing with eyeshadow and I am seeing what the differences are in good quality formulas like the ABH Sultry and Norvina palettes and this one as well; I love seeing the looks you do but I am interested to see video and see what brushes you use to get the absolute perfect gradient effects you show us. I have been happy with the looks I am getting, but I have not been able to get that gorgeous Christina gradient as yet
Alas, I don’t think the metallic sheen is for me, but this is a very beautiful palette!
Can anyone confirm that the pans can be switched around? The current layout is so messy to my eye!
Yes!
So glad this isn’t a higher rating and that it’s a tad costly. Still on my no-buy (only day 10 LOL!)
Yikes, I can only dupe 4 colors and not too well, argh! Okay, I’m using breathing technique to resist now. LOL!
Resist, Jane, resist! Most Viseart palettes that are LE are around for awhile.
I will. Thanks!!!
I love viseart palettes and your review makes me want this one
I don’t usually care for pastels, but I think this palette leans bright, rich, and shimmery enough to be really tempting.
This palette reminds me of a smaller mashup of BH Cosmetics Tropicana, Foil Eyes 1, and Foil Eyes 2. In fact I think you could get all 3 BH Cosmetics palettes and dupe the shades and come under $80!
Does it remind anyone else of the Sephora/Pantone Modern Watercolors from a few years ago? I see this as a shimmery high quality version of that horrible dud.
