Urban Decay Delirious 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Set ($29.00 for 0.15 oz.) includes five travel-sized eyeliners. Three of the five shades could be significantly more pigmented and apply better (they just don’t go on very evenly!), and whoever depicted the color of Zodiac on the box made it appear like a teal hue, when it is nothing like that at all.

Zodiac is a blackened brown with lighter forest green and gold shimmer and pearl, so it appears more as a forest green with warm undertones. It had sheer coverage in one stroke, but it was buildable to semi-opaque coverage with three passes. The texture glided well across the skin, but it just didn’t deposit color–almost like it was too waxy. Applied, it wore well for eight hours on me. Urban Decay Zodiac (P, $22.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Chanel Legendary Green (857) (LE, $34.00) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Chanel Khaki Intense (951) (LE, $34.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). NARS Rue de Rivoli (P, $24.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Swamped (P, $17.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). NARS Night Porter (P, $24.00) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). LORAC Dark Green (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Sephora T-Rex (DC, $10.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Urban Decay Mildew (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). Fenty Beauty Nepturnt (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery, darker (85% similar). Urban Decay Loaded (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (80% similar). Urban Decay Stash (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Accuse is a medium-dark, slightly brightened, blue with a lighter blue and navy blue sparkle. It had semi-sheer pigmentation in one pass, and it was buildable to mostly opaque coverage with two layers. The texture had a noticeable chunkiness to it due to the amount of sparkle, though it didn’t feel rough on the lash line. It lasted for eight hours with some sparkly pieces that traveled. NARS Naxos (P, $26.00) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Urban Decay Abyss (DC, $22.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay The Night King (LE, $22.00) is less shimmery, warmer (85% similar). Estee Lauder Electric Cobalt (P, $28.00) is less shimmery, lighter, brighter (85% similar). Melt Cosmetics Steel (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). Melt Cosmetics Santos (P, $19.00) is less shimmery, cooler (85% similar). Urban Decay Roxy (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). Tarina Tarantino Glamorous Thief (DC, $15.00) is less shimmery, lighter, brighter (85% similar). Urban Decay Gamma Ray (P, $21.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Hyacinth (P, $21.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Delirious is a muted, medium-dark eggplant purple with warm undertones and lighter violet shimmer. It had semi-sheer color coverage in one stroke, and it was buildable to almost solid color after two layers. It wore well for eight hours on my lower lash line, but the texture could have been a little creamier/denser to enable more even coverage. NARS Bourbon Street (P, $24.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Urban Decay Voodoo (PiP, $22.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (85% similar). MAC Image Conscious (P, $17.00) is cooler (85% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty (Grape)vine (P, $24.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (85% similar). Tarina Tarantino Ultraviolet (DC, $15.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty (Plum)age (60) (P, $26.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). MAC Resort (P, $21.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Fancy Moves (LE, $17.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). bareMinerals 6AM (LE, $15.00) is warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Muse is a dark, chocolate brown with warm undertones and fine gold pearl. It had good pigmentation in one stroke, and it was lightly creamy and glided on with even, smooth coverage. It lasted for eight hours on me. Urban Decay Dark Force (P, $22.00) is more shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Burberry Midnight Brown (P, $27.00) is lighter (90% similar). Wayne Goss Precious Opal (P, $14.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). MAC Orpheus (LE, $16.00) is warmer (90% similar). Make Up For Ever D62 Diamond Brown (P, $21.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Lord It Up (P, $15.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Zoeva Rock 'n' Roll Bride (P, $7.50) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Corrupt (P, $22.00) is darker (95% similar). ColourPop Sincerely Yours (LE, $7.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Glitterbug (P, $24.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Brown(out) (54) (P, $26.00) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). Urban Decay Bourbon (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). Fenty Beauty Space Cookie (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). Sephora Cocoa (DC, $10.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Oh this is disappointing, but kind of a relief – it was on my holiday wishlist which was getting much too long.
Hope the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick set performs as well as last years though!

Sooooo glad I passed on this set now!!! I read a few reviews on Sephora saying that zodiac was nothing like it looked in the promo pics, and they were soooo right!!! Not only that, but it’s poor quality! Man. The three interesting colors got C’s? PASS. Seriously tho, if Zodiac looked like the swatch on the back of the box, I would’ve bought this.

Ana Avatar

I don’t feel like buying anything from Urban Decay in years! I have no idea what happened to the quality of their products, that used to be so outstanding, now everything is just “meh”.

Such a shame the 3 prettiest ones got mediocre scores. I especially like the colors for Zodiac and Accuse, they’re really hard to dupe, and I’m a sucker for shimmer in my eye pencils. Between this and the Waterline pencils, I’m disappointed with UD. There are much better eyeliners out there for much cheaper

Julie Avatar

Well that’s disappointing for such pretty colors!! It seems like the UD shades with the larger sparkle/glitter all tend to have texture & pigmentation issues. I wish they would put out more colors with the finer shimmer/more metallic finish–those and the matte shades seem to perform sooooo much better both here and in the permanent range!

I have this. But, I will admit I has sat unused. I knew when swatching it, that they would need a couple of layers and I bought it mostly because I don’t have anything like the green or blue and I didn’t want to buy two pencils now. Now, I’m thinking about returning it and getting a full sized UD.

Nicole Avatar

Good idea! I’m going to return it this weekend during the sale. I’ll put Zodiac on my long list of things to look at. I’m pretty shadowed out at this point. We will see if it wins me over!

Susan Avatar

I think I have the same and similar colors in the eyeliner vault. Love and have a few Perversions. Will have to check Muse. If I don’t have it or similar, ill see if I can buy it singley. (How is that really spelled?)

Kayle Avatar

I’ve never been particularly impressed by these liners. I swatched them in-store once and I had to wonder if it was just me or if they were just kind of badly pigmented! It especially blows that the 2 well-performing colors in this set are the ones you can get everywhere. I still have faith in the UD lip products though, I’ve been keeping an eye on 1993!

Marissa Avatar

i almost bought it when i was looking through sephora… perversion and muse might look good but as a whole it’s a fail, such a bummer that the companies let these kind of underperformed products go to stores.

Genevieve Avatar

Not so great (apart from two of them). At least they’re better than the “new improved formula” of the other ones you have shown today.
I wouldn’t fancy all that glitter near my waterline from Accuse (awful name). The green from Zodiac is a lovely colour – but no. A pass for me.

Nancy T Avatar

Zodiac makes me SAD! That shade could’ve been magnificent if it had only been well formulated and un-waxy. These are an easy skip for me, and it probably would have been anyways because it has my nemesis Perversion in it. Oh well. ?

Cat Avatar

Boy am I glad I didn’t spend my birthday gift card on these! I was in love with the promo pic of zodiac, but seeing the swatches made me very disappointed. Certainly not worth it when the only good shades are another brown and perversion. I have so many “back-up” perversions that came with stuff that I don’t need another if the interesting shades aren’t great.

Susan Avatar

Perversion, both liner and mascara, have been my go to blacks since their release. I agree with you description. I like Muse but will have to see if it’s sold separately unless I have it in the eyeliner vault all ready. I have matte browns but not ones with shimmer. I can come close to duping the other colors and have several Perversions. The collection is not worth it to me.
