Editor's Review

Chanel Noir Petrole (931) Stylo Yeux Eyeliner ($33.00 for 0.01 oz.) is a deep black with subtle, olive brown undertones and a fine, satin sheen. It looked a lot more complex in the swatch photo than I could really see in person as an eyeliner on my lower lash line, though.

The Stylo Yeux formula is supposed to be a "waterproof, smudge-proof" eyeliner with a "gentle, soft" texture. I gave up on this formula bit ago, as the majority of shades I had tried had a really firm, stiff, and painful-to-use texture, but I happened to receive one shade as a press sample, figured I'd give it a shot, and was pleasantly surprised. It was much, much creamier--so much so that I purchased the other shade in the collection. The texture was creamy without being too wet, so it didn't transfer or migrate easily. Noir Petrole had semi-opaque coverage in one stroke, but it was buildable to opaque coverage in two layers. It was easy (and not painful!) to use even on my waterline. The eyeliner was still going strong after ten hours of wear.

Claims / Ingredients

This new waterproof eyeliner formula delivers long-lasting definition with a twist of the wrist: Colour winds up when you need it, winds down when you don't. A built-in sharpener at the opposite end detaches for quick refreshes.
