Favorite Look: EYES: ABH Brow Wiz, Colourpop It’s a Princess Thing palette (Grumpy in crease, Ray on lid, Magic Carpet on outer V) Marc Jacobs Highliner in Brownie to tightline upper lash line, Clinique High Impact Mascara (trial size). FACE: EstĆ©e Lauder Double Wear Makeup, Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, RCMA No Color Powder, NARS Orgasm blush. LIPS: MAC Crosswires
Most Used Products: ABH Brow Wiz, EstƩe Lauder Double Wear Makeup, Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, RCMA No Color Powder
Beauty Discoveries: (Forgive me if I sound like a commercial for this product, but it has achieved HG status in my routine.) I’ve been using NYX Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer under my eyeshadow for years, but I just experimented with it and found that it also works wonders at keeping my lipstick from feathering! I put a tiny bit on my finger and tap it onto the edges of my lip line (aka vermillion border), then fully rub it in so it isnāt at all visible. (Note: I do not coat my entire lips with this primer, just the edges.) Then I apply the lipstick. I first tried it with MAC Ladybug, which normally feathers out of my lip line within minutes after application, even with lip liner, but this trick kept the color reined in for hours.
That’s a great tip about the e/s primer on around the lips! I never would have thought to try that.
I use ELF hydrating under eye primer for my eye baggage before concealer. Iām going to try and see if a touch of it works for lips. Great tip!!
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Favorite look from the week: EYES — UD Primer Potion in Enigma. ColourPop Just My Luck Palette: Kiss My Hass blended out with Chances Are… (crease), Big Bucks (halo/lid), Mary Jane (center of lid), and Mo Bamba (deep crease; lower lashline). Looxi Beauty HL in Voodoo (brow bone; inner corner). Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum (top lashline); UD 24/7 Eye Pencil in Perversion (upper waterline); Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara. LIPS — Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Sheer Rapture. CHEEKS — NARS Hot Tryst Palette: Swindle Mixed with Friction. FACE — e.l.f. Hydrating Face Primer; bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer in Opal 01; e.l.f. HD Powder in Sheer; Sephora Collection Tranquil (contour); NARS Kings Road (as HL); e.l.f. Original Mist & Set.
Your most used product this week: BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer in Opal 01 + my usual dailies.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): NEW — e.l.f. has expanded its Flawless Finish Foundation color/undertone range; there’s now 40 shades to choose from. Light Ivory had been a pretty good match for me, but it’s slightly warm (especially for fall/winter). I want to try the new Pearl shade, which is supposed to have neutral undertones.
Skin tone: Fair with neutral undertones, grey hair and deep brown eyes.
I didn’t put makeup on one single day this week. I think that is the longest I have ever gone without putting any makeup on. My second Sephora order came today so I will be putting makeup on tomorrow, plus I am going to Kalispell so would have put makeup on anyway.
Favorite product this week: I am trying out a bunch of skin care that I picked up at the Sephora sale in my first order. I split my previous skin care with new skin care as I didn’t want to try all new products at the same time. I did that with Drunk Elephant and I was lucky that it didn’t really mess me up. Having said that, something is causing me to break out. I am persevering through for another week or so just to see if it is normal adjustment to something new but may have to step back from the changes. My skin is not particularly reactive and I can usually slap anything on and not get a reaction which is relatively abnormal when you have super fair skin.
New beauty discoveries: None
Skin tone coloring / medium tan with neutral undertones.
Favorite look this week / a bronzy glow using Tom Ford Leopard Sun quad and just a highlighter cheek , with a brighter coral red lip.
New discoveriy a.
Physicians Formula Marumaru Butter lipstickin Samba Red ,
Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones
Favourite look from the week: I have been switching it around all week, but my favourite remains using the Champagne shade from the Maybelline Burgundy Bar, with the City Color All Eyes on Me taupe and a pop of the light plum shade from the Burgundy Bar palette – combined with my EA lipstick of Goldmine.
Your most used product this week: Between the Burgundy Bar and bareMinerals Soft and Smokey palettes plus my staples.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): I think I am favouring lighter lipstick shades than those of old – which were always darker berry, red and brown shades. I am liking a lighter peachy/brown/orange lippie of late.
Genevieve, you can always combine your lighter new and darker old faves-your light/warms and dark/cools (generalizing from what you’ve said) should mix into some really nice medium neutrals! The way I usually mix my lipsticks is to apply the shade I want to be more prominent directly to my bottom (fuller) lip and the accent shade directly to my top lip, then pop/press my lips together. That way tends to look a lot more natural than messing around with a lip brush.
Your skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Favorite look from the week: I rediscovered Buxom’s Mink Magnet eyeshadow and did a simple but lovely look using it and the darkest shade from Chanel’s Empreinte du desert quad, lined with Sephora Cappucino on upper lid and UD’s The Night King under my lower lashes. UD Love Drunk on lips and – what else – Dior Rosy Glow on cheeks
Your most used product this week: La Roche Posay sunscreen (the creamier formula), Youth to the People facial oil, Buxom Mink Magnet e/s and UD Love Drunk lipstick (using Elizabeth Arden’s lip primer makes this wearable and wonderful for me)
Any beauty discoveries…
Your skin tone/coloring: Light neutral beige
Favorite look from the week: Purple continues to be my jam and ND Liason continues to my go to because it has my best no-brainer mid tone shades to subtly create depth in my hooded eyes. I used it along with MAC Vio-lit on lid smoked into crease and on lower lash and then lightly added the lavender shade from ND along the top of the crease. My fav Zoeva purple pencil
Your most used product this week: Charlotte Tilbury Glowgasm palette (light). As a big fan of sheerer face products, this hits all the right buttons for me in terms of colour and texture. It looks beautiful and because of its sheerness does not pull neopolitan ice cream. I use a Kevyn Aucoin matte contour to start so cheek area has some depth. I overlay the CT and start with the bronzer shade on cheekbone well diffused, layer the pink (which is really dreamy) on cheekbone on top, then take the highlight shade (the pale gold) and add a soft highlight on high planes of face. It looks esp. pretty if I go for a dewier face with my CC (iT cosmetics – the shimmery one to which I add a bit of my foundation to tweak the colour)
New discoveries: Hourglass unreal high shine lipgloss in Provoke (mauve nude). I may need a backup.
Also, continuing my technique journey and discovering I can wear certain foiled shades into my crease (hooded eyes) as long as I lay down a good matte base and then just build on it. I use MAC Fix+ for lid to intensify shimmer and then use a dry brush to pull the same shadow into crease to smoke it out slightly into my crease.
New old discoveries: Iām back using MAC painterly as my base instead of concealer. It gives me better coverage of nasty shadows/discolouration in my eye socket and in the corners of my eyes. My improved brush skills allows me to apply without getting too thick. I have mature eyes.
Your skin tone/coloring: above, with freckles, green/gray/blue eyes, warm brown hair.
Favorite look from the week: I did a purple smokey eye using the color Euphoria from the PMGL La Vie En Rose palette with glowy pinky blush, and the Dose of Colors gloss in Messy Bun. It was super pretty, and the shade Euphoria is the most unique purple I’ve seen in a long time.
Your most used product this week: The ND Safari palette. It’s so beautiful and blendable; it’s become my staple palette. It has so many different shades that I feel like I can pair it with anything!
Any beauty discoveries… I’ve been using my fingers to blend out my foundation/BB creams on my face and while I hate having that much product on my hands once I’m done, I do love how much better and more natural my base products look on my skin.
