Warm Edit

Viseart Warm Edit Edit Eyeshadow Palette ($39.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a new, permanent 12-pan palette that features a mix of new and previously-released shades housed in a slim palette. The shades are smaller than the brand’s full-sized, though I’m working on confirming the size as the cardboard packaging lists the palette as containing 0.28 oz. but the sticker on the back of the actual palette indicates 0.42 oz. It’s a small, travel-friendly palette, though, and each pan is large enough for typical eyeshadow brushes. This particular palette has the vibe of the larger, Warm Mattes palette with some shimmers included to make it more versatile.

The matte eyeshadows were the strongest in the palette with good pigmentation and blendability, while the shimmers were less consistent with shades like Burnt Gold and Earth really shining while Mars is soul-crushing in its disappointment (and the version in the Grande Pro Vol. 2 palette was way, way better).

Honoree (Warm Edit)

Honoree (Warm Edit) is a soft, yellowed beige with warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff that applied evenly to bare skin but had some fallout when I worked with it. The texture was lightly powdery in the pan, and it was key to tap off excess, especially if using it on the brow bone (after other shades have been applied). It stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me before it showed signs of wearing away.

FURTHER READING: Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent).

Formula Overview

-

The eyeshadow formula is supposed to be "pigment[ed]" with "smooth and even application" that is "long-lasting." The matte shades are typically semi-opaque to opaque but buildable with soft, velvety textures that can sometimes be a little powdery or slightly firm, depending on the shade. I find that the mattes are often best suited to someone who likes control over pigmentation and may prefer to build up color; they regularly perform better in practice than just swatched on the arm as well.

The shimmer shades range from satin to metallic, and the more metallic shades tend to feel creamier to the touch, while the satin ones have a fine pearl to them that looks almost melted on the lid once blended out. Both the mattes and shimmers are blendable and easy to work with. Most of Viseart's eyeshadows wear between seven and nine hours on me.

Saffron (Warm Mattes #4)

Saffron (Warm Mattes #4) is a medium-dark yellow with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had rich color coverage in a single layer, which adhered fairly well to bare skin and blended out nicely, though it wasn’t as perfect as the version I have in the Warm Mattes palette. The texture was soft, blendable, and a little dusty in the pan. The color wore nicely for eight hours and started to fade after that.

Bronzed Peach

Bronzed Peach is a deep, coral-red with warmer, golden shimmer that gave it a slightly frosted finish. The color payoff was opaque in one layer, while the texture was soft, more loosely pressed, and had a bit of dustiness in the pan and light fallout during application. It adhered fairly evenly but seemed to lose some of its sheen when applied unless I used a wet brush to begin with. It lasted well for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

Chocolate

Chocolate is a deep brown with subtle, neutral-to-warm red undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had nearly opaque pigmentation in one layer, which was easily built up to full coverage with less than half of a layer on top. The texture was slightly thinner, but it wasn’t stiff or difficult to blend out on my skin. It wore nicely for eight hours before showing any signs of wear.

Moonstone

Moonstone is a light-medium, peachy gold with warm undertones and a sparkling, frosted sheen. It had semi-opaque color coverage that applied fairly evenly, but it had a bit of fallout if I wasn’t careful due to its more loosely-pressed consistency. This shade was buildable, and it was very blendable without losing its intensity. On me, it started to fade noticeably after eight hours of wear.

Curcumin (Dark Matte #7)

Curcumin (Dark Matte #7) is a bright pop of orange with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff that adhered evenly and smoothly to my lid. The consistency felt soft to the touch but was somewhat powdery in the pan, so there was a bit of fallout if I wasn’t careful. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours on me before I saw signs of fading.

Flame (Warm Mattes #8)

Flame (Warm Mattes #8) is a rich, medium-dark copper with warm, red undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was opaque, while the eyeshadow had a soft, silky texture that was slightly dusty in the pan but applied evenly and didn’t have issues with fallout or sheering out too readily. It wore well for eight and a half hours before it started to fade on me.

Mars (GPV2 #16)

Mars (GPV2 #16) is a medium-dark, reddened plum with warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had an incredibly dry, dusty consistency that was extremely prone to fallout and was really difficult to use dry. This shade was only workable with a wet brush, which improved pigmentation, adhesion, blendability, and helped the product actually look like it appeared in the pan. Worn dry, it lasted for six hours at best (but looked downright awful).

Oh no on the F! But solid overall…this is not going to be for me because it’s way too warm, but I appreciate the review and look forward to the Rose edit (unless I missed it). Do you know if the Rose is their cool palette or there will be another edit that’s cool? I thought I saw something on Insta about another edit but could also be sleep-deprived and making it up in my head (mom brain when you have a toddler is totally a thing). lol

Oh what a disappointment about mars! My palette is coming tomorrow (bday gift to myself) and I’m excited about all of the rest of them. It’s a good thing that it’s pretty easy to pop that pan out!

Krista Avatar

I had the same issue when I played with mine for the first time today! It was so chunky and dry, and so out of place compared to the others I wondered if I got a bad one! FWIW, I also got the rose edit and found it to be much more consistent (and sooooo beautiful)!

Gina Avatar

I also bought both palettes and they arrived yesterday.
I had no problem at all with Mars-in my palette it was soft and creamy and swatched like a dream. Mine was not dry AT ALL. It actually felt almost wet. There must be bad batches out there because Mars in my palette was nothing at all like you described. It was perfect, exactly what I would expect from Viseart.

Alecto Avatar

One surprise failure there, but if one likes these kinds of colors (which I do), and isn’t overwhelmed with dupes (which I am), it’s a really nice palette with one shade that has a successful workaround for its limitations.

Genevieve Avatar

I’m not really a fan of this palette – way too warm for me and it does contain shades that are abound in lots of different palettes, including some of their own.
The only two shades I liked were Earth and Burnt Gold.
It’s quite poor that the beautiful plum shade Mars turned out to be so awful.

CeeBee Avatar

Are the pans not the same size as the Petit Pro ones? They look as though they can be removed from the tray in much the same way so it would make sense to me if the actual pans could be swapped out and rearranged if you had several of the smaller palettes…

BunnyFufu Avatar

So pretty, but when I look at it all I see is a shimmer version of TF Just Peachy Mattes with rando stepchild CP Tiki thrown in for good measure. And Mars, easily the most gorgeous of the bunch, breaks my heart that it’s so bad. Boo.

Easy pass, and on to the Rosé Edit.
