Too Faced Life's a Festival Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Life's a Festival
Too Faced Life’s a Festival Ethereal Eye Shadow & Highlighting Palette ($42.00 for 0.47 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette for spring that features 13 eyeshadows (with one that is touted as an eyeshadow and highlighter–the largest pan) with mostly shimmery shades. It can definitely be used on its own, but anyone who tends to incorporate more mattes, particularly in the crease, may find they need a complementary palette alongside this one.
The palette was decent with the shimmery shades applying fairly well, but there were a few shades that were under-pigmented, dusty, and messy to work with. I ended up enjoying the palette and its color scheme–more “wearable” rainbow or “brighter” pastels in concept but wish that the mattes were less dry/powdery (and more pigmented). The palette seemed to give off a sweet, fruity scent but was not as noticeable to my nose as their Chocolate palettes.

Young and Free
Young and Free is a bright, medium pink with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was good, and it was buildable to opaque coverage with a second layer. Though it was slightly powdery in the pan, it applied well to bare skin with good adhesion and blendability without losing its intensity. I was impressed (and quite surprised) at how easy it was to use without a primer, as these types of shades from Too Faced often are misses. The eyeshadow wore well for eight hours on me.

Rainbow Life
Rainbow Life is a muted, medium pinky-red with warm undertones and pink sparkle over a more matte finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation, and it did not build up well at all. Even over primer, it looked dismal, faded, and uneven as the texture was dry and quite thin. It lasted for six and a half hours.

Sunset Dream
Sunset Dream is a medium, rusty orange with warm, golden shimmer. It had good color coverage in a single layer, but it was hard to build up to full coverage without a primer underneath or using a dampened brush. The consistency was soft, a bit loosely pressed, which resulted in some fallout during application. It stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me.

Fun in the Sun
Fun in the Sun is a bright, yellow gold with warm, orange undertones and gold-to-green shifting pearl paired with a metallic finish. The pigmentation was fantastic, and the eyeshadow had a smooth, lightly creamy texture that applied evenly and smoothly to bare skin. It wore well for eight hours on me.

Fireflies
Fireflies is a bright, light-medium chartreuse with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic sheen. There were faint sparkles strewn throughout the powder, but they weren’t noticeable in practice and did not seem to result in fallout (I think most of them just got trapped in my brush). It had opaque pigmentation with a smooth, creamy consistency that wasn’t too dense or too soft in the pan. The eyeshadow started to show signs of fading after eight hours of wear.

Funtasy
Funtasy is a medium-dark, berry-purple with subtle, cool undertones and a satin finish. It had good color payoff that was buildable to opaque coverage with two to three layers, but the texture was drier, thinner, and a bit dusty, so I felt like it never looked as rich on the lid as it did in the pan. This shade wore well for seven hours on me before fading a bit.

Dusk Teal Dawn
Dusk Teal Dawn is a medium, bluish-teal with a metallic finish. The consistency was a bit denser and thicker, which resulted in less even application (it just looked more textured) on its own, but it was improved when I used my fingertip or a dampened brush to really push and press it into the skin (don’t sweep!). It had good pigmentation that started to fade on me after eight hours of wear.

Euphoric
Euphoric is a light, peachy coral with warm, orange undertones and a metallic sheen. It had good pigmentation, but the texture was drier and dustier, which resulted in some fallout during application and application that looked a bit dry. It was easier to work with over a primer or using a dampened brush. This shade lasted for seven hours on me before fading noticeably on me.

Desert Vibes
Desert Vibes is a light-medium brown with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. It medium, buildable pigmentation with a velvety, but rather powdery, texture. I found the eyeshadow to work better in practice, as it did not seem to have as much fallout as one might expect given the texture, and it built up easily and blended out well. It stayed on nicely for seven and a half hours on me.

Beamin’ is a bright, white gold with warm, yellow shimmer and a metallic finish. It seemed to have a few larger sparkles, but they were hardly noticeable. Overall this seems like it would be fussy to work with.
I think if you just don’t use the real misses, it’s not bad – like I didn’t struggle to use most of the shades, just the really low-scoring ones.
I seriously did NOT want to love this palette. But, I honestly do. Seems like the palette tsunami never stopped once the holiday season did, huh? My low-buy year has some strong temptations front and center, this palette being amongst them!
It’s definitely a lot slower than holiday, trust me, haha!
Apart from one complete dud, this seems to be a fairly good palette – which is amazing, coming from Too Faced. It is quite a bright pastel palette and leaning towards spring shades.
Not for me, but I think this will be quite popular. Beautiful eye looks Christine.
It’s not terrible – some of them are really nice on!
I would have been interested in this one last year when all the pastel/bright palettes where coming out. I does have a number of shades I like to wear so maybe if it goes on clearance I’ll get it but not right now.
I did like how it accomplished a brighter, pastel feel – more color than true pastel but easier to work with than true brights.
I collect eyeshadow palettes and unicorns, so this was too much to resist, and I’m glad to see it get a decent score. As we well know, Too Faced LE palettes can be very iffy.
They really can be all over the map 🙁 I hope you enjoy it!
I’ll let you know what I think of it.
My intention was to ignore this palette but it keeps catching my attention, especially your gorgeous photos! You made such fun looks and you look like you’re having fun wearing them ? I can actually see myself playing with this… oh maaan… I might cave… and on a Too Faced palette!! :::smh::: I’m so weak.
Another pass for me but props to TF for keeping up a little better quality. I agree that the palette needs more mattes for better usability and that combined with the large size makes it a no-go for me. Thanks!
I have almost no faith in Too Faced’s eyeshadow palettes, but this one seems to actually be of much better quality than what they’ve been putting out of late. However, I do not understand why the mirror in the lid is such a needlessly strange shape. Surely it would just render it a pain to use?
$42.00 for a COMPANION palette that looks like Claire’s makeup? HARD pass. Put that $ towards the Chocolate Gold palette. Its absolutely gorgeous.
I really hope we’re nearing the end of the unircorn and mermaid palettes and rainbow highlighters. Le sigh. I loved them 2 years ago but now it’s just soooo over done.
