Age of Consent
Tom Ford Beauty Age of Consent Lip Color Matte ($54.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, medium pink-coral with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had good color coverage in a single layer–just shy of truly opaque–that applied evenly on the lips. The consistency was smooth, velvety, and felt more emollient (but not really creamy) when I wore it on my lips, so there was a bit of color that seemed to get into my lip lines over time. It wore well for four and a half hours and felt lightly hydrating.

Formula Overview
$55.00/0.1 oz. - $550.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "richly pigmented" and have a "luxurious, velvet matte finish." The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to fully opaque with lightweight, velvety textures--creamy enough to glide on nicely but not enough slip to feel slippery or slide around on the lips when worn. The wear time varied from shade to shade with richer shades lasting over six hours. The formula was comfortable to wear and often lightly hydrating. There's a vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Best Revenge
Tom Ford Beauty Best Revenge Lip Color Matte ($54.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, medium red with neutral undertones and a semi-matte finish. The lipstick was richly pigmented, and the color applied evenly and smoothly across the lips. It had a lightly creamy consistency, which made application easy to deal with, but it did not feel too slippery when worn, so I had no issues with the color feathering over time. On me, it lasted for five and a half hours, left a stain behind, and was lightly moisturizing.

Night Porter
Tom Ford Beauty Night Porter Lip Color Matte ($54.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a medium-dark red with subtle, cool undertones and a satin finish. It had good color coverage in a single stroke, though there was a subtle layer of translucency as my lip freckle peeked through (looked more like a faint shadow). The consistency felt smooth with light slip–more velvety than creamy–and was comfortable to apply and to wear. This shade stayed on well for almost six hours and was lightly hydrating.

More really beautiful lipsticks. I like Night Porter the best of these. Adding it to my lists!!
A lipstick named Age of Consent in a soft, classically ‘girly’ shade of pink? That grosses me out a bit.
I really like the color of “Age of Consent,” but I just can’t with that name. *scurries to look at the dupes*
Lovely shades – Tom Ford often has beautiful and slightly different shades to his lipsticks. I like Night Porter the best.
Geeze the name of that lipstick…could we just not name makeup after sex crap anymore? It’s all I ask. Sigh.
“Age of Consent”?! Also, I just bought MUFE Artist Rouge #39, TOTAL dupe of that color!
Age of consent grossing me out here.
What is with names these days? Oh, this kid is too young to sleep with but just a few more days and he/she’ll be finally able to legally consent to having sex with me.
Gross, gross, gross.
In the current climate, with all the news about sexual harrassment, it’s an especially ill timed name. Kat Von D got away with Underage Red a few years back, too.
Discomforted a bit by the naming of Age of Consent (ick!) but it’s not a shade I would wear either…
I do mind it endlessly amusing and slightly bewildering that there are SIX dupes for Night Porter by MAC and they are all LE (Ruby Woo was LE?!)… talk about doing the same thing over and over again… there’s no reason in particular that I don’t buy MAC any longer but this only confirms my feelings on that.
Age of Consent is pretty & looks great with the fabulous eye look you put together!
Age of Consent (let’s try not to focus on the name & make more out of it then surely was intended) looks lovely but just wanted to clarify Christine as you state it’s semi-matte. Does that mean it’s a different formula than his earlier mattes eg pink tease, pussy cat which are solid mattes?
The descriptions are my words, not Tom Ford’s – if they were the brand’s words, they would be in quotes. The formula is listed in the beginning of the review (the first words of review are brand name, shade name, formula name, which is Lip Color Matte!
Yes, I know the ‘semi-matte finish’ are your words hence asking for clarification as I’m aware this lipstick is part of his matte range & his other (full sized) mattes don’t have a semi-matte finish?
Hi Nishi!
It is the same formula per Tom Ford – they did not indicate they made any changes to the formula – that was what I was trying to explain: if the formula was different, that would have been notated through the formula name 🙂
For example, past shades were described (by me) as Matte, Semi-Matte, and Satin, depending on the shade, so the new shades are consistent with the old shades with respect to finish, which has always varied from more matte to more satin (slight shine). The majority of shades, past and present, are not true mattes (no shine).
Great-thanks for clarifying Christine…will look fwd to trying it on altho looks so good in your pics, may just order online! All the Tom Ford shades I have from his matte range are in my opinion, true mattes, with no shine eg. First Time, Pink Tease, Pussycat, Velvet Cherry & Black Dahlia. I think Tom Ford & YSL do the best mattes-shades, texture & hydration. Huda Beauty liquid lipsticks not far behind.
I think Pussycat/Pink Tease are the most matte to my memory, but the others definitely had some shine on me!
Maybe I just blot the hell out of them! Nice conversing with you Christine-always appreciate your reviews.
Ah, if you blot, that would make a difference – I do not blot down the color prior to taking photos (well, or ever).
I don’t mind the name “Age of Consent” because I just think of the (fantastic) New Order song. I wonder if it was named after it.
I think it is, given that there’s another lipstick in this collection called The Perfect Kiss (another New Order song). I get that the name creeps people out, but the song is not gross at all!
Incidentally, I think Night Porter is a much more controversial name, but I’m guessing no one’s having an adverse reaction to it only because they aren’t familiar with the movie …
I think it’s also named after a song by Japan. Not the movie.
I see I’m not the only one a bit troubled by the name “Age of Consent”. I can’t help but wonder what the hell some people are thinking, coming up with names like these.
It’s a song by New Order.
Just a thought, but could/would you put the ratings of dupes, along with the cost, availability, etc? At a glance it would help me compare quality as well as cost, etc.
When you click on the More dupes… link, you get a page with side-by-side image comparisons that also shows the rating, cost, percentage similar and cost savings of the dupes. I so love this feature!!
That name for the first one though, with what’s been happening recently – I feel gross just looking at the name. Especially coupled with that “innocent” type of pink shade.
Even if it was named before all the recent events, especially the one with the Stranger Things actors, it would still gross me out. Plus there are many dupes for this color, so I’m hoping no one really buys it and that pushes it out of production. I don’t know what TF was thinking with this one.
The other two are nice but dupable. So passing on these 3.
Best Revenge and Night Porter are stunning, but very easily duped reds. Trying to use up the beautiful red lipsticks I already own first.
Tom; “Age Of Consent”? Really? To a pedophile that could be what? 16? 15? 12? SICKENING.
Super cute! I love em all.
