Editor's Review

Charlotte Tilbury Rising Star Hollywood Lips Matte Liquid Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a medium pink-coral with soft, warm undertones and a satin finish. The consistency was smooth, velvety, and mousse-like, so it felt airy and lightweight on the lips but had a lot less slip than a lot of liquid lipsticks. There was still a noticeable shine to the finish, even after I waited 15 minutes for it to "set," but it did not feel much different after waiting than it did initially. It moved around somewhat, and after two hours of wear, it felt clingy on the lips, though it was not drying. The color payoff was opaque and lasted for four hours with some color settling into my lip lines over time.

Claims / Ingredients

Charlotte Tilbury unveils yet another of her red-carpet secrets with Hollywood Lips – allowing everyone to cheat their way to a fuller, plumper-looking pout. Designed to glide on like a gloss, these matte contouring lipsticks dress lips in full-coverage, long-lasting colour and, what’s more, feel as light as air on wear. The addition of collagen-stimulating sea lavender prevents thinning while nourishing beeswax ensures a baby-soft finish.

What a massive disappointment from Charlotte Tilbury. The formula is incredibly uncomfortable and sucked the moisture out of my lips. The finish accentuates every little lip line you have (my mouth looked like a prune). Don't pay any attention to the photos of models wearing each lipstick on the official Charlotte Tilbury website. They are drastically different in real life and inaccurately described (Show Girl is a dark '90s brown with no rosiness in it). There is no strong scent which is a plus. However the applicator is poorly designed and was incredibly messy and imprecise. The lipstick dries down within 10 minutes and starts becoming uncomfortable at the 45 minute mark. Packaging is not a clear tube by the way. Most of the tube is opaque and is garishly emblazoned with 'Hollywood Lips' and an accompanying lipstick kiss in a particularly loud shade of red. It looks cheap. Charlotte Tilbury has great lipsticks (the tube formulas) but her liquid lipstick was a huge dud for me.
