Tarte Park Ave Princess Chisel Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Park Ave Princess
Tarte Park Ave Princess Chisel Palette ($46.00 for 0.95 oz.) is a new palette for spring that features four bronzing powders and two highlighters. The formulas are described as “the blendability of a cream” with the “weightless wear of a powder” that has “12-hour” wear. The brand didn’t seem to callout pigmentation specifically, though their swatches show opaque coverage (and it’s more typical for these types of products to be pigmented than sheer without saying as much). If they’re the kind of bronzing tones that you go for, the palette was nice overall. I didn’t have any issues applying or blending out the powders, they lasted between eight and nine hours (which is solid wear, just not 12-hour wear as promised), and there was plenty of product.

Halo
Halo is a pale beige with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The powder was incredibly smooth and finely-milled, though it was soft enough that it was on the powdery side and tended to sheer out on the skin as I tried to place it and diffuse the edges. It wore well for eight hours on me.

Enhance
Enhance is a light yellow with soft, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer with a soft, lightly powdery texture. It looked a smidgen on the drier side on my skin, and it definitely looked drier underneath my eyes (this shade was also recommened to be used to “cancel out darkness under the eyes”). As a cheek highlighter, it stayed on well for eight hours on me.

Carat
Carat is a medium brown with warm, orange undertones and a luminous sheen. The pigmentation was nearly opaque, while the texture was soft, smooth, and not too powdery nor too firmly pressed in the pan, which made it easy to pickup with a brush, blend out, and work with overall. The color wore well for eight and a half hours on me.

Princess Cut
Princess Cut is a soft, light-medium brown with warm, yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff, which was buildable to mostly opaque coverage with two to three layers. The powder was soft and blendable, though it was powdery and got somewhat messy in the pan. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours on me.

Angle is a medium-dark brown with warm, reddish-orange undertones and a matte finish. The powder was smooth, silky, and blendable on the skin with opaque color coverage in a single layer, though a lighter hand could be used for sheerer coverage if desired. It wore well for nine hours on me before starting to fade.

The real problem with these kinds of palettes is that all the shades need to work with your complexion to make the purchase viable.
The finish on this palette looks really good – no sparkles or shimmers. I am not quite sure about the bronzers, some of them look a tad orangey.
Thank you for the review Christine, it is very helpful.
My pleasure, Genevieve!
I agree with everything you said.
While I’m really liking the looks of Crown and Angle, 2 shades just wouldn’t be enough of a good reason to buy the entire palette. I wish that at least one of the highlighter shades had a luminous finish instead of 2 pretty dry looking mattes.
I know what you mean, Nancy! I feel this is too much of the same thing in a palette.
Eyeshadow pallettes I get….all too well. I can stretch myself to see the appeal of highlight and blush pallettes. But a pallette with multiple bronzers? I’m grateful I don’t see the appeal of this. …and am immune to the temptation. How many people are varying the shade of bronzer they wear from day to day…so that they need multiple shades and options? Is that really a thing? It feels more like something brands are forcing on us: “Dont just buy the bronzer that’s right for you…buy three more as well!” But then again like I said…put nearly any grouping of eyeshadows in a set together and I am going to feel it’s pull..
.
I think if they had done more differences in undertone, I could see it, and if one of the highlighting shades was more shimmery. I could see someone using a matte or satin highlighter, medium to metallic highlighter, matte bronzer, and shimmery bronzer if one uses more than just a go-to for each category!
I like the concept behind this, but I wish this had turned out just a little better!
your earrings are so cute and festive! π
I wish someone would come out with some contour palettes for neutral and cool skin tones. I think the only one that would work for sure is Crown.
So…I purchased this palette at Ulta before Xmas and mine definitely has a different shade for Carat. Itβs a cool toned sort of grey cast contour shade and all of the powders are completely matte. WTH is going on with Tartes products??
