Sydney Grace Eyeshadows Reviews & Swatches ("Galaxy" Look)
Flannel
Sydney Grace Flannel Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a bright violet with subtle, cool undertones and a frosted finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which was buildable to full color coverage with a second layer. The texture was denser, lightly creamy, and seemed to have a bit of slip, which made it a little harder to diffuse the edge as seamlessly as I would have wanted. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before creasing faintly.

The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen.
Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn't have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

Hercules
Sydney Grace Hercules Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a rich, medium gold with strong, warm undertones and a metallic finish. It had rich color coverage in a single layer, which adhered well to bare skin and blended out with little effort. The consistency was soft, smooth, and not too firmly nor too softly pressed in the pan. It stayed on well for eight hours on me before I noticed slight fading.

Sweet Dreams
Sydney Grace Sweet Dreams Shimmer Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a rich, fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a subtle, blue-to-violet shifting pearl. It was much less shimmery than a lot of shades in this color family are when I’ve encountered them. As a result, it wasn’t as noticeably shifty in finish when applied to my skin, unless I really buffed and sheered it out. The consistency was soft, smooth, and lightly creamy without being too firmly nor too softly pressed in the pan. It had opaque pigmentation that lasted well for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

Maids a Milking
Sydney Grace Maids a Milking Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a bright, medium pink with warmer undertones and cooler, blue-to-violet shifting shimmer. It had nearly opaque color payoff that applied well to bare skin and blended out nicely along the edges. It was quite dimensional on my skin, which was nice as sometimes duochromes look cool on my arm but lose their depth in practice. The texture was soft, lightly creamy, and blendable on my eye. It wore well for eight hours on me before it creasing slightly.

Midnight
Sydney Grace Midnight Matte Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a deep black with neutral undertones and a mostly matte finish. There were very faint shimmers strewn throughout, but it appeared matte to my eye in person when used. The texture was soft, substantial without being powdery, and surprisingly blendable for as intense as the coverage was in one layer. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be pigmented (typically semi-opaque or opaque, often buildable if they aren't opaque) with a soft, more velvety texture that has slight slip but isn't so thick that it gets difficult to use, applies unevenly, or has a lot of fallout. I've found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. The matte formula tends to wear between eight and eight and a half hours on me.

Wow, that black is one heck of a “black”. From a personal taste POV, these are colours I would never wear but, again, SG had knocked it out of the park quality-wise!
It’s surprisingly rich/deep without also being super, super “thick” in a way that it became difficult to work with (for all of its payoff).
Odd thought, but it’s nice to know that there are SG dupes for the old mufe shadows I forwent or backburnered, until it was too late. I so enjoy everything about this brand. Suspect SG will break my low buy eventually.
Wow – these are stunning bright shades to get everyone in the mood for summer. Beautiful shades.
Even though it may have one of strangest shade names ever, I absolutely LOVE Maids A Milking!!! Such an interesting looking duochrome!
This is also a masterpiece editorial worthy eye look you created above! Reminds me of a brilliant sunset one may see down at the shore!
Maids a Milking is a standout shade for sure!
Maids a milking was part of a special christmas bundle they did year before last. All the shades were named after the 12 days of christmas. They kept some in the permanent collection. Pear tree from that group is so good.
Pear Tree is amazing – I like Calling Birds and Turtledoves too!
Thank you for that background contextual info, Knmngrl. Because now that rather odd name makes sense! Without it, I’m sitting here trying to make sense of pink iridescent e/s and milk, started to wonder if it was perhaps referring to Nestlé Strawberry Milk or what!
Looked for maids a milking on their website and its not there? Is it not being released yet? If anyone knows let me know thanks.
Glad you were able to find it, Susan!
Never mind I found it…..
Just wow color, quality and application.
These are fantastic brights! I’ll take one of each, please. Evan the black looks great.
I’ve never been drawn to the SG eyeshadows. Nice, but do I really need more singles? The shade Maids in Milking is absolutely lovely and if the duochrome actually shows on the eye definitely something I want to add to my collection. Once I pain one of my CP singles I’ll likely replace it with this one!
Every time there is a Sydney grace post I am always impressed with the swatches. There are so many colors that in the pan I would never guess have such great color payoff. I wish I would have found them before my make up forever splurge. The only problem is now my to buy list is getting quite long!
