Adore Me

Sydney Grace Adore Me Matte Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a dusty, medium-dark coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had rich color coverage that adhered well to bare skin with a smooth, even application that diffused along the edges with ease. The consistency was soft, a smidgen powdery, but blendable and didn’t have noticeable fallout. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading a touch.

Formula Overview

$5.25/0.06 oz. - $87.50 Per Ounce

The matte eyeshadows tend to be pigmented (typically semi-opaque or opaque, often buildable if they aren't opaque) with a soft, more velvety texture that has slight slip but isn't so thick that it gets difficult to use, applies unevenly, or has a lot of fallout. I've found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. The matte formula tends to wear between eight and eight and a half hours on me.

Embrace

Sydney Grace Embrace Matte Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation paired with a soft, lightly powdery consistency that sheered out a bit too readily on my skin, though it was certainly blendable! This type of application and sheerness made it a more suitable shade for crease and transition work. It stayed on nicely for seven and a half hours until it started to fade noticeably.

Magenta Dreams

Sydney Grace Magenta Dreams Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark lavender with warmer, pink undertones and cooler, blue-to-violet shifting shimmer. It had good color coverage in a single layer, but it needed to be applied with fingertips or a dampened brush to get to opaque coverage in one layer (and was buildable with two layers dry). The consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, and blendable on my skin. It lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before creasing faintly.

Formula Overview

$6.25/0.06 oz. - $104.17 Per Ounce

The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen.

Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn't have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

Raspberry Sorbet

Sydney Grace Raspberry Sorbet Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a dark, reddish-copper with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. The eyeshadow was richly pigmented and had a smooth, creamy texture that was dense without being too firmly-pressed in the pan. It applied evenly to my lid and blended out with little effort. This shade wore nicely for eight hours before it started to fade on me.

Rushed

Sydney Grace Rushed Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a deep purple with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had a soft, lightly creamy texture that felt more loosely-pressed in the pan, so I recommend using a lighter hand with it to avoid getting too much product on your brush. The pigmentation was nearly opaque, and as I blended the product on my lid, it seemed to become opaque. The color stayed on well for eight and a half hours before creasing slightly on me.

Winter Rose

Sydney Grace Winter Rose Shimmer Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a soft, medium peach with subtle, pink and green-gold shifting shimmer. The texture was noticeably dusty and had some fallout during application, though it still managed to yield opaque pigmentation in one layer. The shimmer seemed to dull within a few minutes of application and lost a lot of its nuance as a result. It lasted well for seven and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

You, Only Better

Sydney Grace You, Only Better Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium-dark purple with subtle, cool undertones and a frosted finish. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer, which applied a bit unevenly to bare skin and had to be blended together to even out. The consistency seemed a bit denser, a little thicker, which may have contributed to how it applied initially. Thankfully, it was workable and came together without too much effort all in all, just not as foolproof as some of the brand’s other shimmer shades. It wore nicely for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

I’m working through the entire range of eyeshadows, which is ~200 shades – same as what I’ve done in the past with ranges like Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows, NARS, ColourPop, MAC, Sephora, etc. Sometimes it can take longer to get through, and right now, there aren’t that many higher priority eye-related releases to test! I’m not even sure what I’d be writing reviews on for eyes right now if I hadn’t been testing Sydney Grace’s singles (I’ve just wrapped up testing them all, and I’m at loose ends on what eye stuff to tackle next).

I’ve had lots of requests from readers to cover indie brands with Sydney Grace being one of the most mentioned organically through various comments + answers readers have left on the blog over the last year. Like any brand that’s covered, it’s super easy to scroll right on by if you’re not interested! I wouldn’t expect anyone to be interested in every post or all brands featured here.

Christine, a lot of your readers really appreciate all of the Sydney Grace swatches and reviews you’ve been providing us! Thank you for the diligent effort!

LT readers know how you operate. Once you have started, you do the entire range. I got the April fools blue/green take-off bundle and a few singles, before you began to review SG. Let me tell you, i’m throughly impressed with both the reviews and how they help me curate and limit my collection. I am more than impressed by the SG brand, and am thrilled that we will be able to look these up through the dupe list. T is the best tool ever! Thanks so much. So, if you don’t care to see SG, skip over it. But, that would be a regretful omission, IMO.

We try to approve comments within 24 hours (and reply to them within 72 hours) but can sometimes get behind and appreciate your patience! 🙂 If you have general feedback, product review requests, off-topic questions, or need technical support, please contact us directly. Thank you for your patience!
