Sugarpill Capsule Collection C1 Palette Review & Swatches
Capsule Collection C1
Sugarpill Capsule Collection C1 Capsule Collecction ($42.00 for 0.5 oz.) is a new, permanent palette that featured 10 shades across both matte and shimmer finishes. The largest pan is designed to be used as a blush as well. The pigmentation was good across the board, and despite having some harder-to-make shades, it applied relatively easily for me. I felt like I was getting true-to-pan intensity and didn’t have to spend a lot of effort blending the shades out.

Glory
Glory is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was soft, blendable, and balanced between firm and soft so that it wasn’t too powdery but was easy to work with. It had nearly opaque coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly to bare skin. It lasted nicely for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Supernova
Supernova is an icy lavender with cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable coverage with a stronger, more reflective sheen, so against my skin tone, it appeared more pigmented than it actually was as a result. The texture was smooth, dense and firm without being too stiff or too thick, and applied evenly to bare skin. There were signs of fading present after eight hours of wear.

Baby Doll
Baby Doll is a light, bluish-lavender with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage that was buildable to full coverage with a second layer over bare skin–impressive given the paleness and finish, so if you’re someone who normally uses primer, it should be even easier to work with. The texture was slightly firmer in the pan, which minimized powderiness and potential for fallout. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Radiate
Radiate is a light-medium chartreuse with warmer undertones and cooler overtones. The shade darkened noticeably and unevenly on bare skin, and even over primer, it wasn’t as consistent in color and tone as I would have wanted. I found that actual application–applied and diffused on my lid area–went better than it appeared just swatched on my arm but still underwhelming. It had good coverage that wore well for eight and a half hours and left a faint stain behind.

Ember
Ember is a bright, highlighter yellow with a sparkling, metallic finish. It had a green tinge to it that kept from being really gold to my eye. The consistency was a bit denser and more firmly-pressed into the pan, but it wasn’t difficult to pick up using a moderate hand and a shader brush. The product applied evenly and lasted well for eight and a half hours on me.

Undone
Undone is a medium purple with warmer, pink undertones and a matte finish. It had rich color coverage in a single layer, which applied fairly evenly to bare skin and didn’t take too much effort to diffuse and blend out, though it would benefit from a primer for more foolproof/easier application. The texture was slightly firmer but had enough give to pick up well with a brush and could be deposited with a fluffier brush as well. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Melody
Melody is a brighter, darker pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was smooth, soft enough to be yielding and blendable when applied but firm enough that it wasn’t overly powdery. It applied evenly to bare skin and diffused easily along the edges without darkening unexpectedly. It wore well for nine hours before fading a bit.

Cloud 9
Cloud 9 is a bright, medium blue-leaning aqua with cool undertones and a metallic finish. The consistency was denser, slightly creamier, but on the thicker side, which isn’t my ideal when working with so many mattes, but it applied fairly well with a dry brush. I was able to smooth out the product to get a more even finish that played well with other shades in the palette, but I would recommend a slightly firmer, denser brush with it. It lasted nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Dream State
Dream State is a rosy, lavender base with warmer, green-gold shifting pearl that gave it a smooth, metallic sheen. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer with a more softly-pressed texture that was best worked with using a lighter hand or else it was easy to pick up excessive product that resulted in fallout. It applied evenly and blended out well, and it stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Very pretty colours. I’m always drawn to these type of shades despite never really wearing them. Seeing your full face looks with them, though, I’m sorely tempted this time. You just make everything look so good!
Finally, a palette with several cool leaning purple/purplish shades that have near perfect quality and pigmentation! Plus some lovely pops of lime, lemon yellow, watermelon pink and aquamarine blue, too! I love everything about this palette. It is perfect for spring and summer. Getting it!
I love these shades but dare I say it, they might have too much pigmentation for me!! I mean, these are bright and maybe a bit over the top for a 66 year old woman. I use to not care about it and would wear what I want, when I want but recently I have been feeling a bit more “conservative”. I also think that when you are very pale complected, these shades really stand out and are more neon appearing. I think this is a stunning palette though and if you can pull it off I would say go for it.
How great! Wonderful looks as well. I’ll need to stay strong not to get this. I can see the people with trypophobia having a nervy over the layout…then wondering if they can depot it! Channeling summer in the best way. Really great formulas as well as colors.
That’s interesting! I have very, very mild trypophobia and this palette doesn’t strike me that way at all, though the Carli Bybel palette definitely does (as well as the iPhone 11). I think it’s because this palette looks more like bright, happy molecules, not holes!
I am here for a matte and metallic/shimmer (and no chunks of glitter or mattes with glitter sprinkles) palette full of fun colors! I love wearing purples so I’d use a good chunk of this palette, especially on game days – and I adore pinks. The others would just be fun bonus play around colors. I am glad this is a cool and unique palette that performs and doesn’t end up being a gimmicky palette. I’m also thankful it is permanent so I have some time to save up and budget.
This is a fabulous palette of summer pastel shades – excellent ratings, a variety of finishes and beautiful shades. So often pastel shades can be garish in colour and powdery in finish, but Sugarpill has nailed this one.
Yes!!!
Very, VERY tempting!!
AHHHHH omg!! Thanks so much for the amazing review, Christine! You’re the best. So happy you liked it! xoxo
My pleasure, Amy! 🙂
You’ve really outdone yourself on this one… I have fallen more and more in love with the quality and color story since I got this palette during prelaunch!!
REALLY REALLY hoping this is the first in a series 🙂
These colors and quality are amazing and I love your looks, Christine. The only turnoff is the packaging. I wish it was in traditional palette form.
I have no particular reason to love Sugarpill–I don’t wear really colorful makeup–but for whatever reason I always root for them? Maybe just because their products seem so consistently high-quality or because they started catering to an inclusive demographic before it was cool? I don’t know. Regardless, glad this palette was good, even if I won’t be picking it up myself–so awesome for people to have options for non-chalky pastels and brights.
You make it tempting to pick this up for pops of colour and some pretty pastels too.
Oh wow. If I just saw this without knowing anything else, it looks like a watercolor palette (makeup is art!). So pretty and springy. That eye look you’ve created is absolutely stunning.
This is a beautiful palette! I’m so tempted by it and it would pair so well with my Fun Size palette! I may look into getting this once my no buy is over. Thankful that it’s permanent so no FOMO!
I can’t see how I would make this palette work for me…and yet it’s just so tempting for some reason!
I love these colors, which means I already have them elsewhere. Beautiful palette and I would buy it if I wasn’t already covered! I love Sugarpill.
Thank you for review <3 I love the colour story of the palette. So unique how the pans are layed out in molecule design in a pill shaped container. I saw one video where the palette similar size to ABH. Currently on low buy but definitely will get next month. Thanks
I love the look of this palette ?? Its the perfect Sailor Moon style palette . I’m just worried that some of the shadows here can be duped in my other palettes . Great Eyelooks though.
I mostly really like mine, but it’s strange how some people have troubles with certain shades. Most all of the reviews I’ve seen, and my friends, remarked that Baby Doll didn’t show up on them or build, but when I used it, it was very pigmented and built up superbly. You are the only person I’ve seen so far that had good luck with Ember. I thought it was by far the worst shade in the palette, and most of my friends had issues with it, too. I couldn’t even get it to look very good wet, or using my finger. I think I’ll need glitter glue with it, if I even bother.
I wish the pan size for Ember and Undone had been switched. Undone is a fabulous purple, and would make a good successor to Poison Plum. (PP was discontinued. I believe SP could no longer get some of the ingredients.) I also would have liked for Radiate to present ad green on the skin as it looks in the pan, but it’s still nice.
Mines really disturbing with the shimmers shade. Dream State, Cloud 9 and Ember the worst of them and they are powder/flaky and dry to apply which is not Sugarpills normal formula for shimmers in general. The mattes feel like the Fun Size palette formula so workable over a primer but he paler shades are sheerer.
Cloud 9 worked great for me. Dream State was finicky. Ember was the worst. I’m sorry to here you’re having similar problems with the flaky shimmers.
Yeah, the shimmer shades remind me of the newer/cheaper drugstore formulas… workable but not good. Most of my Sugarpill shadows are Good to Great which is why I ordered this palette right away.
I’m finding now that I’ve broken through the top layer more they are less dry and flaky so I’m wondering if it was a pressing issue where there was a crust to the top layer. It was SO Weird! They now look like the swatches here. 😛
My batch code is 19L1 if anyone else is having a problem with theirs. 😉
I really love this palette but have to wait since I am on a no-buy. Also, I regret buying all the Norvina palettes because I never have a chance to wear colorful eyeshadows ( I wear neutrals every day) so I know I would just regret this purchase…but it is so pretty!
