Sephora New Nudes PRO Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
New Nudes
Sephora New Nudes PRO Eyeshadow Palette ($68.00 for 1.12 oz.) contains 28 eyeshadows with mostly matte shades with a few shimmers (satin to metallic). I wish I enjoyed the formula used in the PRO palettes, but I find it particularly dry, which can result in powderiness, fallout, shades that sheer out as soon as one tries to blend them out, and poorer wear. They are somewhat better over eyeshadow primer, but I still found that it fell short of what I’d expect when there are many other eyeshadows that perform better.

Daisy
Daisy is a soft, yellow gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The color coverage was opaque in a single layer, while the texture was smooth, soft, and blendable with a smidgen of dustiness in the pan. It applied well and wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

Magnolia
Magnolia is a soft, yellowed peach with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff in a single layer that applied somewhat evenly, but it was just dusty and dry in texture, which made it difficult to apply it to bare skin. It did not improve much over a silicone-based primer and needed a tackier/creamier primer to perform decently. It wore well for six hours on me before fading noticeably.

Sunkissed is a light-medium peachy-pink with warm, golden shimmer. It had semi-sheer coverage that was not buildable. The eyeshadow had a drier, looser consistency that was prone to fallout and difficult to apply evenly. Dew Drop is a soft lavender with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkly finish. It had sheer coverage with a drier consistency that had a ton of excess product that kicked up in the pan and dropped off my lid during application. I tried using it with a dampened brush, and I didn’t get much more success–it was still sheer and messy. What little I managed to get onto my skin stayed in place for five hours and had fallout.

Wisteria
Wisteria is a light-medium purple with subtle, cool undertones and a frosted finish. The texture was drier and more loosely-pressed, which resulted in medium coverage that did not build up well and had a lot of fallout when I tried to do so. It wore well for about five and a half hours and had some fallout over time.

Camellia
Camellia is a medium, reddish plum with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The texture was smooth to the touch, but it was drier and slightly dusty, and I found that it tended to look more satin-like in finish when applied to my lid. Lily is a medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable color payoff with a moderately dusty, drier texture that sheered out when I worked with it and had some fallout during application. Tulip
Tulip is a rich, medium-dark pink with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had rich, opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly to bare skin without sheering out too readily, so I could get the richness I saw in the pan on my lid. I really did like the Pro Warm palette, but this is an easy pass for me. Idk why it’s so hard to get shimmers right. Plus, this has been done to death.
About what I expected. I realize one gets a lot of shades with this, but I wouldn’t be able to bring myself to pay this much for B- quality palette.
Personally, I’d say “Enough already with the orange and pink and red; enough with derivative, copy cat palettes; please make something I can buy!!!”
I completely agree!!
Ditto! More and more the latest mini palettes by Huda in the Obsessions line (the blue, green and purple) are the only things that seem useful or even a little bit unique right now. I hope they review well. 😉
Always appreciate your thoughts. Good to hear that you feel that they’re a bit dry feeling for those of us with drier eyelids to begin with. I know you go colour by colour, but do you have a recommendation for a similar palette that you did like, where the texture wasn’t so dry? Thanks in advance.
I love mostly matte palettes, but not this one. It looks more pink and orange than “nude,” and such disappointing scores on so many of them. For $68, I’d rather get fewer shades and great quality.
First, I’ll start with the good: that red and golden halo eye you did is bangin’ haute! It will be today’s inspiration for me, if I ever get myself in gear.
Problem is, this palette is unbelievably inconsistent in its shade’s performance. To the point of being absolutely dreadful. I just get how this monstrosity of a palette ever managed to make it past R&D and then offered to us MU aficionados.
Speechless. Utterly speechless. Not only are there as many Fs/Ds as As, but tons of the shades have the same dupes. It does confirm what we all knew, that the pink/red/orange family is the new neutral. These Sephora megas certainly aren’t improving.
Sad that this scored so low because I love the shades! I’m very fair and tend to like less pigmented shades as strong shades are easily overwhelming on my complexion. Do you think this palette is still workable, or am I better saving my money for something else?
Have you tried the formula before? Some people really liked the past palettes, and I didn’t find any of them to be super impressive. I personally wouldn’t use this again.
A fair “dupe” of this palette is the BeBella Maroon Mayhem palette. It has 35 shades, and is just under $30 USD. The shadows do contain mineral oil, but if you’re OK with that, they are otherwise really good palettes!
You know, when the nude/neutral eye makeup trend got really big, I used to look at palettes and think “nobody can possibly use that many tan-brown shades.” Meanwhile, I couldn’t find a good pink-red shade. Now I look at palrttes and think “no way anyone needs that many pink-red shades.” This palette manages to be both of those thoughts.
Cool tones, purples, grays, and greens just aren’t the thing anymore, I guess.
There are many problems with this palette: the overwhelming size, a good 70% of the shades are poorly pigmented, the colour scheme has been done to death and the mostly matte finishes.
An easy pass.
I was interested since it seemed many of the shades would suit my fairer tones. But this is nowhere near good enough for the price. Thank you for the review!
I agree with everyone else’s assessment…pink, red palettes have been done to death and this one is lacking in quality so it’s an easy pass for me.
On the positive side of things, I love that they used names that coordinate and actually describe the colors …at least for many of the shades.
Nudes? No.
However I like a lot of shades. Sadly the vast majority of the shades I do, scored the worst.
I’m so glad this received under a B+, it looks so much like Huda’s Desert Rose palette (which I have and like now), but I was a little tempted to purchase it still. It’s just pretty to look at!
