A lot of people were poo-pooing this collection when it was announced, but I think overall it was really good! I was really tempted by some of the lip products (especially Where No Man Has Gone Before and Warp Speed Ahead) but ultimately I pared my picks down to 2 of the Trip the Light Powders: Highly Illogical and Strange New Worlds. I would have loved to pick up Luna Luster, too- they are just so pretty with their swirls!- but it seemed a little excessive and probably duplicative of what I have. I’m happy with my choices ?
I think it has its moments, but I can see why some are disappointed, too!
I have Bird of Prey, the lashes and the liquid liner. Gonna post a look tomorrow 🙂
Awesome! 🙂
I was surprised by how much I liked this collection when I started using it. In pictures it was a bit “womp womp”, BUT I’ve been loving the LLAP lipstick (oddly wearable for such a throwback colour) and the Trip The Light powders are just absolutely stunning!
Happy to hear you’re digging it, Chelle!
MAC got me good on this one! I’m nostalgic for the original TV version of Star Trek, and despite the somewhat bland packaging, they have some great quality products and cute names. I got Lipstick in WNMHGB and Kling It On, Lip Glosses in Khaaaannn! and Warp Speed, and Pressed Pigment in To Boldly Go, and I’m really happy with everything. Kling It On is my FAVE by far ! Mine is a lot more pigmented and glittery than yours, and it looks like a beautiful blackish plum on my lips. Sounds scary but it isn’t, b/c it has a sheerness that makes it both complex and wearable, and the purple pink sparkle is so pretty. Have never seen anything like it, love!!
That is so fab, Katherine! It is nice to hear from those who are loving their new products!
Oh boy. I slept too late and didn’t make it up there for my “appt”. Plus, I don’t think J*l** or Ty*** are there today, either. I am trying to pull my butt in gear. My shopping list goes as follows, in order of importance:
1.) WNMHGB lipstick
2.) Highly Illogical
3.) Bird Of Prey pigment
4.) To Boldly Go pigment
5.) Khaaannn or Warp Speed Ahead
But. The Selena and Taraji P Henson collex will also drop later this month, too! And I love the look of Selena eyeshadow, Como La Flor lipstick and Taraji Glow MSF! ?
Hope you can snag your goodies, Nancy!
Oddest thing ever; there were no hordes of fellow Trekkie’s. Which meant that as of the time I checked out and left, there was still plenty left. ?
I was both happy and disappointed this this collection. I think they could’ve done more with the packaging— those face powders def should’ve been in a communicator style packaging! 🙂
That being said, I was at the mall right when Mac opened to pick up the highly illogical powder and the bird of prey pigment!
Glad you got the products you wanted, Kristen! 🙂
H Christine!
I haven’t seen any of these in person yet. However, I will be doing that on Saturday. From the swatches and reviews here, I am interested in Luna Luster (I think) and maybe one of the lip glosses.
Being a sci fi nerd, I think I am mostly picking up if anything for the packaging 😀
I was wondering, if you had to suggest one specific item from the items you have swatched, which one would you suggest?
I’d probably go for a compact if you’re kind of into it for the packaging 🙂 The Trip the Light powders are pretty on!
I was thinking the same! Thank you 🙂
I’m still not 100% impressed with this collection, I think they could have done a lot more in terms of bold colors and interesting packaging, but I am enjoying the pieces I bought.
I DO have to say though, this collection was better than the crap Covergirl put out as its Star Wars collection, honestly that collection was borderline insulting.
I agree! The CoverGirl promo pics were great, but their packaging on the Star Trek collection was soooo disappointing 🙁 MAC could’ve done SO more with their packaging, but Cover Girl set the bar so low that it makes MAC’s look somewhat decent
Which would you say is your favorite item?
I haven’t worn everything yet, but so far I’m loving the Bird of Prey pigment and Luna Luster powder (I use it as an all-over finishing powder).
ugh I’ve never been so tempted to buy something solely based on the name as I am with that KHAAANNNN! lipglass. I don’t even really wear sparkly things!
Awww!
I never wear lipgloss but I HAD to buy KHAAANNNN! because of the name haha. I’ve worn it once (layered over a matte liquid lipstick) and it was nicer than I expected.
Generally a pretty good collection from MAC. We’re great Star Trek fans in our family, so I am really pleased that the products are really good. Just love that Bird of Prey colour. So beautiful.
Nice to hear! 😀
I wouldn’t say this is one of Mac’s best collections overall, but the cute packaging and scifi nostalgia would make some of these great gifts this holiday season.
