The formula is supposed to add “sheer luminosity” to the skin with a “creamy” texture that “blends easily.” It had semi-sheer, buildable coverage that was easy to work with on the skin, as the powder was very blendable and sat well on my skin without emphasizing my pores or my skin’s natural texture. I noticed the powder, while smooth, had a slightly drier, chalkier texture in the pan, which was not apparent on the skin at all, but it’s one of those products that is more impressive applied as intended than merely felt with a fingertip. It had noticeable color on my complexion, so it may work as a highlighting blush or bronzer on similarly-hued skin tones as well as being a highlighter for deeper skin tones. This shade wore well for just under eight hours before fading on me.

Hey Christine- I think you had a glitch? Looks like your title and the little pic next to your alpha rating are for Strange New Worlds, but the review and close-ups/ swatches are for Highly Illogical.
I agree that it is quite dry in the pan! MAC is calling it creamy, yeah right. That said, it’s just beautiful to look at in the pan and it doesn’t apply powdery, so no regrets here! I found that it was very pigmented on my skin tone as well- a fun, shimmery bronzing blush. I thought it would be a little plummy-er, though (I think their original description was “golden plum” but it seems that the gold swirl takes any plummyness into the bronze range)
No, I’m just beyond stupid and didn’t change the file names. Thank you for letting me know – it is updated now!
Ouch, no one is harder on you than you! ? you’re doing a great job!!
I was silly and talked about the wrong color then (Highly Illogical), but I bought this one, too! Same dryness issues in the pan, but the color is fun and bright! It really packs a punch. I get a very warm orange/red hue from it. Your swirl pattern is neat, btw- kind of looks like a fingerprint!
No, that was a total fail and frankly, unacceptable – if someone did that and had a boss, they would be fired.
The dryness is so weird. Like it’s a NOISY powder!
I agree Christine. When I swatched Strange Worlds with my finger, it was hella dry and loud. Lol. But OMG, it applyed on the face beautifully.
Julia, I have Highly Illogical and it’s not dry at all! In fact, it’s an absolutely stunning warm plum on me. It has a similar satin finish as the amazing Marc Jacobs blushes too. It sounds like you and Christine got bad mixes/swirls.
Hm, all three of mine have the same texture! One was a press sample, two were purchased online.
My Luna Lustre is a little dry but still blendable with no fall out. Illogical has no dryness at all. The feel is smooth and satiny. It sounds like they have either a run issue or a consistency issue; perhaps with the blending.
I didn’t have any issues blending out, despite the dryness in the pan 🙂
That’s weird! Mine is quite dry and firm- I used my scratchy ABH highlight brush on it- but fortunately it applies just fine. Both my Highly Illogical and Strange New Worlds seem to be the same texture.
I think you mixed up your reviews of Strange New Worlds and Highly Illogical. 🙂
Sorry, Beth, I’m a moron and did not change the file names to this shade. The review, description, rating, etc. are correct, just the photos (which are obviously very important) were wrong. I’m so sorry again for not catching it sooner and causing unnecessary problems for you!
No worries! Everyone makes mistakes. 😉
It’s very pretty, much more wearable than I thought, but I can only use as blush, will check my stash for dupes. Is that UD Vintage lipstick in Pallor on your lips?? I don’t see it listed on the Looks info – I need that lippie, OMG love that bluish violet sheen
Christine, you are spot on! I’m an NW50 and this highlighter is perfect for me! It’s weird, because this highlighter swatches horribly and ashy on my skin, but when I apply this to my face with a fan brush…*insert praise hands* #GlowRay It makes me look like a glowing peachy goddess. Do not let this highlighter slip by you. Get it now!
Not *bad*, but I do have Shaft Of Gold (amazing!) . However, I am waiting in some major anticipation for the Taraji P. Henson MSF’s to launch. I’ve seen swatches and LOVE Taraji Glow!
I love that swirly pattern.
I really like this color! It makes for a pretty, warm highlight.
Very pretty. Probably too warm for me though.
