MAC Midnight Pressed Pigment
MAC Midnight Pressed Pigment ($23.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “cobalt blue with pearl sparkle.” It’s a blackened navy blue with lighter blue sparkle. It had semi-opaque coverage applied dry, which was mostly opaque when applied damp. It applied more smoothly and evenly when I used it with a damp brush than dry. The color lasted for eight hours with a little fall out over time. ColourPop Lucid Dream (LE, $6.00) is less shimmery, darker (95% similar). MAC To Boldly Go Pressed Pigment ($23.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “reddish copper pearl with sparkle.” It’s a medium brown with warm, reddish undertones and a sparkling, metallic sheen. It was richly pigmented with a glittery feel that felt as smooth as it could be and went on that way (no chunky sparkle or thick, uneven product). It wore well for eight hours with light fall out over time. It was opaque both wet and dry, though damp application yielded slightly deeper color overall. These look much better applied damp! I already have dupes ( Hello Kitty Chan and Chanel New Moon) so will skip, although both are pretty, esp. To Boldly Go
They do look more opaque damp!
To Boldly Go is like the powder version of Quite Yummy 😀
I could see that!
Just a heads up–Midnight is referred to as Pleasure Planet in the review and swatches 🙂
Fixed, thank you!
I’m glad these got decent grades, as I thought the Midnight swatch didn’t look so great initially. I’ll probably buy Midnight and Bird of Prey (I can’t resist a good olive – which lol I totally forgot to mention in the comment last night on the post about what products you can’t resist)
Olives are lovely! 🙂
I feel disappointed with the collection! It looks like eyeshadow with the Star Trek logo stamped on it. I was hoping for something more like the Trolls collection where they pressed the shape into the powder. I would have LOVED if they’d pressed the logo into all of the powder products. It would have looked so cool. They just don’t feel super special.
I’m so sorry it isn’t doing it for you 🙁
Yeah I agree I would have liked a little more effort put into this collection. Not just with the packaging but with the colors too, metallic silver and gold in a sci-fi collection? Groundbreaking.
I’m a sucker though and Star Trek has been a huge part of my life since childhood, so I’m going to buy at least a couple pieces that suit my style (shimmery face powder, olive eyeshadow, and sparkly deep purple lipstick yes pls).
Pretty!
Glad ya liked ’em!
While I LOVE both shades, even the blue (shocker!), it’s the sumptuous looking To Boldly Go warm copper that is tugging on my poor wallet! That shade would make for a gorgeous whole lid one’n done shade!
I think that one is easier to work with, too!
I like the look of Midnight in the pan but I have a ton of MAC’s pressed pigments that I barely use…not sure why though. I found a way to like them after initially despising them (I’m still a little bitter about the Face & Body collection ones lol) but I just don’t reach for them often enough to want to invest in more.
lol! I think they definitely have improved the formula since the initial launch!
Midnight is a beautiful blue shade and I love it.
Awesome! 🙂
I just love the color of Midnight. Very aptly named!
So true!
