MAC Khaaannnn! Lipglass
MAC Khaaannnn! Lipglass

MAC Khaaannnn! Lipglass ($17.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “berry with red reflects.” It’s a subdued, medium-dark pink with cool undertones and pink and red sparkle. It had semi-sheer color coverage that applied evenly; it is the type of coverage level where the natural lip color comes through noticeably, so it can look very different from person to person based on the natural coloring of one’s lips. The texture was light-medium in weight, moderately tacky, but it was comfortable to wear and didn’t emphasize lip lines. This shade lasted for four hours on me and was lightly hydrating. MAC Dreamy (P, $21.00) is lighter (90% similar). Anastasia Pink Tourmaline (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). Gucci Beauty Potent Violet (DC, $32.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Maybelline Lilac Lumi (P, $4.49) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Bidi Bidi Bom Bom (LE, $21.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). MAC Itsy Bitsy (P, $10.00) is cooler (90% similar). Lancome Polished Rose (01) (P, $22.00) is more pigmented, warmer (85% similar). Dior Dolly Pink (453) (P, $29.50) is more shimmery, warmer (85% similar). MAC Dance All Night (P, $21.00) is brighter, more pigmented (85% similar). ColourPop So Chilly (LE, $8.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). Urban Decay Lovechild (DC, $20.00) is less shimmery (85% similar). MAC Panda Kiss (LE, $18.00) is lighter, less pigmented (80% similar). Fenty Beauty Pretty Please (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, less pigmented (85% similar). Sephora + Pantone Universe Foxglove (LE, ) is less shimmery, warmer (85% similar). Urban Decay SPL (P, $20.00) is lighter, less pigmented (85% similar). Hourglass Cosmic (P, $30.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). Huda Beauty Mystical (P, $18.00) is lighter (85% similar). Anastasia Pink Daiquiri (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Warp Speed Ahead Lipglass ($17.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “plum with blue and pink reflects.” It’s a medium-dark reddened plum with subtle, warm undertones and pink and blue micro-sparkle. The particles in this one felt finer than in Khaaannnn!, so the gloss felt smoother overall. The texture was thicker than average but did not feel heavy or goopy on the lips. I found the color applied evenly for the most part, but some of the color slipped into lip lines, though it wasn’t as noticeable in person as the sparkle and shine did a good drop distracting the eye from it. The gloss wore well for five hours and was lightly hydrating. Fenty Beauty Gal on the Moon (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). NARS Abruzzo (LE, $26.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Space Bubble (LE, $21.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Make Me Mercurial (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Urban Decay Disco Queen (P, $20.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Colour Saturation (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Pat McGrath Rose Quartz Astral (P, $36.00) is less glossy (85% similar). MAC Spare Me (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Giorgio Armani Adrenaline (600) (P, $38.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). Maybelline Amethyst Potion (045) (P, $8.99) is less shimmery, brighter (85% similar). MAC Plum Bite (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery, lighter, brighter (85% similar). MAC Dressed to the K9s (LE, $22.00) is less shimmery, warmer (85% similar). Urban Decay Snapped (P, $20.00) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). MAC At Your Best You Are (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). MAC Private Party (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery, lighter, less pigmented (85% similar). MAC Silent Night (LE, $20.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). MAC Deep Set (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). MAC Pearly Girl (LE, $21.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Pink Sabre (P, $54.00) is lighter, warmer, less glossy (85% similar). MAC Rosebuddy (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. Formula Overview

MAC Lipglass ($17.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is supposed to have “glass-like shine” with “high coverage.” The finish is glossy with a lot of shine, and the consistency is light to medium in weight with a thicker texture that is noticeably tacky. Some of the older shades of Lipglass are quite tacky, but most of the modern releases are tacky but not goopy–I feel like they have refined the texture a bit over the years. The pigmentation varies dramatically from shade to shade, and they can be ultra sheer to semi-opaque but rarely full coverage. The benefit of the tackier texture is longer-than-average wear with sheerer shades lasting about three hours and richer shades lasting as long as six hours. Some shades are lightly hydrating or non-drying. MAC Lipglass is vanilla scented but has no discernible taste to me.

Oh, so….bleh. I feel like another brand could have done Star Trek so much better with great opacity. I’m not sure if they had the rights to use their names a colors but man oh man the possibilities.

I can see a color named Uhura and it’s a fierce dark brown maybe with a bit of gold sparkle in it.

A color named SPOCK could be a nice gorgeous Greige. I see muted simplicity when I look at Spock but also individuality.

A color named Captain Kirk that’s a nice flame red just like Kirk’s personality.

A tribute to Anton Yelchin with a Chekov color in the Russian flag blue with plays on both Anton and Marvin Koenig who played Chekov first.

A color named Krall in a deep matte black.

And KAAAAAAAHN should have been a rustic orange since that was the first Kahn’s costume color in the films (not to mention how bronzed his skin stayed during filming back then)

A color called Enterprise, now that could have been a space grey/silver sheer/sparkly color with a bit of glitter that one could layer over Spock, Krall or Chekov.

A color named McCoy, that color could have been a sexy and bold light berry because McCoy was the sexy one; the good looking play boy plus it would be as bold as Kirk considering how close McCoy and Kirk was it would make sense to give those two bold colors.

And lets not forget Data, my fav. His color would have been a nice white, maybe a shimmery metallic color, a color that defines Data emotional frustrations with his robotic self

And then an eye shadow palette or singles named after the most popular planets or persons that the Enterprise visited or came into contact with like Arena the desert planet, Nomad the space probe, Tribble after those little fluffy dangerous things, Mob Culture from that Chicago episode, TNG (the next generation), Maddox, Klingon, Picard, WORF, probe, Kataan, Guinan (Whoopi Goldberg Character)…Ugh I can obviously go on. IT’s like they really didn’t think this through. You don’t half a** Star TRek!!

Still can’t get over that gorgeous eye look! I have both of these, and like them a lot. Warp Speed is definitely more pigmented, my style. My swatch for Khaaaannn! looks more pigmented than yours, but it’s still kind of sheer, so I use with Revlon Balmstain in Crush (plummy berry) to boost the pigment. The combo gives my lips a nice juicy stain glass look, and the sparkly purple pink glitter is really pretty
