MAC The Naked Time Pressed Pigment
MAC The Naked Time Pressed Pigment ($23.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a light gold with warm, yellow undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had medium coverage applied dry, and it had full coverage when applied damp. The texture was smooth, lightweight, and blendable on bare skin, though some of the sparkles separate from the base powder when I worked to diffuse the edges of the initial application. The color lasted well for eight hours with minor fall out. Sephora First Light (29) (P, $9.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Dior Jungle #2 (PiP, ) is warmer (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Metallic Denim #1 (PiP, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). Bobbi Brown Sandcastle (LE, ) is cooler (95% similar). Sephora Minx (LE, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). Danessa Myricks Starship (P, $18.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Canter (LE, $17.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Guerlain Petrouchka #1 (LE, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Bird of Prey Pressed Pigment ($23.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a dirty, dark green with neutral-to-warm undertones and multi-colored sparkle with dominant gold glitter. It had semi-sheer coverage applied dry, and it was totally opaque when applied damp. The texture was fairly blendable, though it did not apply as evenly as desired to bare skin. The color wore well for eight hours with some noticeable fallout, but it was less than you might expect, given the amount of sparkle in the shade. Giorgio Armani Onyx (05) (DC, $39.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Huda Beauty Python #5 (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter, less pigmented (90% similar). MAC Legendary Lure (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Dose of Colors Palma (LE, ) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). Sephora Luxurious Boot Camp (DC, $10.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Natasha Denona Bottle Green (15M) (PiP, $29.00) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). Stila Mystic (LE, $24.00) is less shimmery, less pigmented (85% similar). Urban Decay Zodiac (DC, $20.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Urban Decay Zodiac (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Formula Overview
MAC Pressed Pigment ($23.00 for 0.10 oz.) is supposed to have buildable coverage with a wet/dry formula that is “blendable,” wears “eight hours,” and has “extreme adherence” due to the “cream-like” texture. In general, they have semi-sheer to medium coverage applied dry and semi-opaque to fully opaque coverage when applied damp. The texture is smooth, almost wet but still a powder, and is fairly blendable, though the glitter tends to diffuse beyond the base color when blended. I typically get around eight hours of wear with little to moderate fall out.

These are kind of pricey, wish they had done 1/2 the size for 1/2 the price, but both are really pretty! I have dupes for both of these, so I got To Boldly Go instead
Yeah, you definitely don’t need this size if you have a decent stash already!
Can you describe how you made the look above? It’s GORGEOUS, but I’m wondering how you did the crease. Is it just Bird of Prey diffused and blended out? Is it a mix of the two colors? Did you work in an additional shadow from your collection?
Thanks!
Hi Melanie!
In the caption for the photos, there’s a link to “Full breakdown here,” that will take you to all the info. Here is the link copied and pasted: http://www.temptalia.com/look/gold-green-eyes-plum-lips/
It might help if I looked at teeny text a little closer on my phone. Duh, me.
Thanks, Christine!
Based on other swatches I saw online I thought BoP would be more olive, but I’m still glad I bought it as I don’t really have a similar green (on my skintone it looks nothing like UD Zodiac). Also I’ve never bought a MAC pressed pigment before because I was afraid I would be allergic like I am to their regular shadows, so I didn’t realize how HUGE they are! This is gonna last me forever 🙂
They are massive!
Bird Of Prey is everything I ever wanted in a deep, smoldering green eyeshadow! Thing is, I have UD Floss in my Vice LTD palette. Looked at the comparison swatches, and while both are dark green, BOP is by far a more complex shade. Thursday, when I go to MAC, I’m definitely checking this one out.
Let me know how you like it, Nancy!
Oooh, such pretty colours but I also wish they were smaller. I never finish up shades like Birds of Prey so smaller would be so much more realistic for me.
A smaller size would make so much sense!
Normaly I Do not wear Green eyeshadow but this Look is so beautiful and very good for Brown eyes. I already have the naked Time and now I will buy Bird of Prey, too.
Thank you, Kylie!
Wow just Wow! Gorgeous on you Christine!
I would love to do that look, but it’s too pricey and I must have dupes somewhere.
Thank you, Nell!
Very pretty look on you! I like!
Thanks, Deborah!
Bird of Prey is such a beautiful shade of green – not lots of dupes around. Both shades work really well together. A great one for MAC. Your eye look is stunning Christine.
Thank you, Genevieve!
The Naked Time is honestly one of the best things I’ve bought this year. Like it’s probably “boring”, but it’s SO useful. I was searching everywhere for a warm neutral, not super opaque, shimmery shadow for a quick eyelook on those mornings you just don’t have enough time for anything else. This is that perfect shadow! It really wakes my eyes up and still looks fun without being troublesome at all. Aahhh I just love it so much.
Happy to hear that you found such a great shade for your looks, Laura! 🙂
I just got Bird of Prey 🙂 Such a cool shade!
These are pretty big, but with a neutral color like Naked Time, I could see it being a good investment if you are a big fan of Mac’s formula. Bird of Prey is also gorgeous, and the two shades complement each other beautifully.
I like the look you created but they aren’t shades for me!
Beautiful eye look, Christine. I’m also in the camp of wishing for smaller sizes however, as a Green Bay Packers fan, I may get more use out of them. Need to check my stash to see if I have a dupe for the gold Naked Time.
Thank you so much, Tracey! 🙂
