Rare Beauty Empathy, Thankful, Appreciate With Gratitude Lip Balms Reviews & Swatches
Empathy
Rare Beauty Empathy With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm ($16.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a muted, medium rosy pink with moderate, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had semi-opaque color coverage in a single layer, which was a lot more coverage than anticipated based on the sheer, buildable coverage marketed.
The texture was lightly creamy, smooth, and lightweight with a moderate slip that wasn’t heavy or tacky. The color applied evenly and didn’t emphasize my lip texture, though there was a touch of product that sank into my deeper lip lines (only visible in the close-up photos but not from a normal viewing distance). It stayed on well for three and a half hours and felt lightly hydrating.

Formula Overview

It's supposed to be a "hydrating lip balm with a kiss of dewy, builable color." They have a lightweight, creamy consistency that felt a bit more like creamy gel with moderate slip but decent application. A few shades could applied more evenly or stayed out my deeper lip lines better, though.
The bigger "downside" to the formula was that most shades were more medium to semi-opaque, buildable, rather than "sheer color, soft shine" and then buildable. They lasted between two and four hours and felt lightly hydrating, but there was a beachy, floral scent and a slight taste.

Thankful
Rare Beauty Thankful With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm ($16.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a soft, light-medium brown with subtle, warm undertones and a lightly creamy sheen. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single pass, which was more coverage than marketed; for those who actually hoped for sheerer, buildable coverage, it was pigmented enough that it was hard to achieve sheer results.
The texture was lightly creamy, almost gel-like, as it felt substantial but was lightweight and comfortable to work with. This particular shade was more emollient than most in the range, and as a result, there was noticeable product that settled into my lip lines initially and slight worsening over the three and a half hours it lasted for. The formula was lightly moisturizing while worn, though.

Appreciate
Rare Beauty Appreciate With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm ($16.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark purplish-taupe with neutral-to-cool undertones paired with a glossy, cream finish. I suspect this shade will look warmer and cooler depending on one’s coloring, though. It applied a bit darker swatched than it did applied to my lips.
It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which was far more coverage than described, and it was pigmented to the point where it was hard to apply from the tube and get a sheerer result! The consistency was lightweight, balm-like–moderate slip but thinner, almost like a creamy gel–and comfortable to apply and to wear. It wore nicely for four hours and felt lightly hydrating over time.

The colors and application look nice. Seems to really be a mismatch between the marketing and the reality. . .which is a shame.
One guess where all 3 of these gorgeous shades just went. Love each one for a different reason, too. Gratitude has to be my favorite of the 3, though. It is very much MLBB, or just deeper and shinier? Then again, so is PML Lavish….
*Appreciate, not gratitude! These names, positive affirmations though they be, are beginning to confuse me, LOL! My bad! ?
Appreciate looks like a nice MLBB shade for me!
I think that Appreciate would be great for my daughter. None of these are my personal preferences so would likely go with one of the other shades that is more in my preference range but I do like my L’Oreal Shines so, in general, I am pretty set for these types of products. I had thought to pick up one to compare pigmentation as the L’Oreal’s are not particularly pigmented but for the difference in price point, I would have to really see a difference and really like the formula.
Appreciate is an interesting shade, a little bit different from the others. I wish these had been able to garner better ratings though.
These have more pigment than I would’ve assumed from something named dewy balm, which is appealing to me.
these colors are just beautiful!
The colors are really nice. I do prefer the newer Fenty balms over these as they are more hydrating and flattering IMO. Also nobody seems to mention this but they have a sort of floral type scent which gives these a terrible perfumy type taste which makes these a total deal breaker for me personally. I returned mine.
